Per Daily Times:
TRAPPE, Md. — A stand-off that delayed traffic and put a small Talbot County town in the media spotlight ended with the discovery of two bodies found at an Ocean Gateway home.
Maryland State Police found the two people after entering the home late this afternoon, ending a stand-off that begin when they received a call from a man there who said hehad killed his wife.
Positive identifications have not been made at this time. Both bodies will be transported to the Office of the state Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death.
At about 10:30 a.m. Today, troopers at the Easton Barracks received a call from a man at that address who said he had shot and killed his wife earlier this morning. The man also told troopers he was not coming out of his house. Responding troopers established a perimeter around the house. Due to the statement of the man in the house about his possession and use of a firearm and the proximity of the house to the highway, troopers closed both east and westbound Rt. 50 for the safety of motorists. The detours around the area that were established with the assistance of the State Highway Administration were lifted shortly before 4 p.m. today.Throughout the day, troopers attempted to make contact with the man, but never received a response. Loud music was playing from within the house throughout the day. No shots were believed to have been fired by the suspect during the time police were on the scene. No shots were fired by police since troopers first arrived on the scene.
i bet economics lead to this...

Debra Spencer 55
Both of Trappe, MD.
I think that the State of maryland should send a bill to this guys estate to recoup some of the expense of all this. (State highway guys in 3 counties redirection and detouring traffic, state police and tactica forces team for 4 hours of time, 3 counties sherrifs dep. for traffic control at intersections). Rediculous! They should have just gone in and taken him out early on and been done with it.
ReplyDeleteI guess 'more news in less time' means there's no time left to put together a half-decent website.
ReplyDeleteEvery news outlet that matters is up-to-speed on this tragedy -- but WMDT still hasn't updated the situation. On their website, it says the police still have roads barricaded for some unknown reason.
WMDT, why does your website suck sooo badly?! It's pathetic! No wonder WBOC doesn't even see you as competition.
hE MARRIED AN OLD WOMAN- 12 YEARS OLDER.
ReplyDeleteThe MSP uses no sense in this case. They never talked with the person other than when he called them this morning. Common sense says they should have tried to get in tighter to the house long before they did. Him not answering their attempts to contact him says he had been dead since right after he called them. If they had stormed the house and he shot himself on their attempt then it still would have saved waisted money as well as time. I am not saying anything about the folks that lost their lives for what ever reason this has happened its evident something drastic caused this. It seams to me that someone in our law enforcement system did not act as fast in this matter as they should have. Had they established a line of communication and were talking with this person that would make a good reason for bringing things to a stand still but that does not appear to be the case.
ReplyDeleteSO ANONYMOUS 1032 WHAT IS YOUR POINT???
ReplyDeleteAre they sure the dead man was the same man that called in saying he had killed his wife?

I see we have someone tactical experience in hostage negotiation on here. Where did you go to school for training?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 1113 I'm sure one of the reasons that such a large exclusion zone was established was the fact that he reported that he had a 50 caliber rifle. Not knowing if it was a 50 cal. sniper rifle or a 50 cal muzzle loading rifle don't you think it was wise that they shut traffic down with the dwelling less than 100' from the highway. If he indeed had a 50 cal. high powered rifle think of the carnage he could have created. Kudos to MSP and how it was handled.
ReplyDeleteso i'm confused..they found 2 bodies but never heard gun shots and the music was playing loudly off and on? so he had to of been alive to turn it up or down and if it truly was a 50 cal they aren't quiet. so this confuses me something is fishy
