Is it just me or does the Civic Center seem to have a lack of events this summer???
ReplyDeleteLooking at their web page, they have a Childrens Pet Fair and Willie Nelson scheduled for July and Raw in August.
What's coming up in June? Anything? I would expect something going on there every weekend in the summer months but nothing is listed. Why bother even having a Civic center if its only going to be used 3 times in the summer?

Kevin,
The civic center has been lacking for many years when it comes to booking events at the civic center. Gary Mackes has done nothing for that civic center except waste tax dollars thanks to the elected officials of our County.
They just had a wrestling event there recently and they are bringing it back so soon?
The Marketing of the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center SUCKS. It costs a fortune to go to concerts with all the fee's and taxes. They charge enormous fee's for the use of the civic center and you have to use their catering service and the food there SUCKS. Why do they charge the Wicomico County Schools to have dances and proms at the civic center, that just doesn't make sense? Why is Gary Mackes one of the highest paid employees in Wicomico County. The new County Executive should have replaced him as soon as he took office.
What's up with the Enterprise Fund? This is an account that Gary Mackes can spend without approval of the County Executive or the County Council. This guy has way to much power and authority. I have known numerous employees under him that have been railroaded and fired without good reason.
I have been to numerous towns and cities that have civic centers and they are booked every single day. Yes, you heard me correctly they are BOOKED EVERY SINGE DAY!!! One thing to keep in mind, it's not the fact that they can't sell alcohol for not being booked all the time. Oh, if you want to book a wedding go to the Fountains, that is a much nicer place and more reasonalble.
I have been to a few concerts there and they seem to be the only thing that sells tickets. Why don't they have a good concert there at least every other month?? Oh yeah, poor marketing again.
That civic center must be a lonely place to work with all the employees and no activity going on. Thank God for the internet and computer games!!
I don't think privatization is the answer either. Replacing Gary Mackes is the only answer that is acceptable. I bet when that idiot reads this post he is going to have a stroke. I know he reads it because I have been in his office and saw it on his monitor, ROTFLMAO!! Have you ever seen him on PAC 14? He is a nervous wreck when he gets in front of the County Council and has to answer questions. I see him squirm in his seat when Councilwoman Prettyman asks him questions.
I also know people he has sent letters to and accused them of making posts about him and the civic center on the Blogs. He is one Paranoid individual.
Get rid of Gary Mackes now!!
Anyone else want to elaborate on the Civic Center.

Joe, make the above a separate post. I bet no one is commenting because they didn't read the thing on WWE. Most people that read your blog aren't into "professional wrestling." They are more intelligent than that.
