Who's Worse?

Just moments ago a Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy was following behind this City of Salisbury Trash Truck. While driving west bound on Rt 50, the Trash Truck was throwing trash out of the top of the vehicle and actually hitting the Sheriff's Deputy Cruiser and the vehicle was not stopped. I'm told a box came flying out and a newspaper hit the Deputy's windshield and nothing was done about it.

Now everyone knows how "I" feel about the Sheriff's Department but my concern here is, this is how inner city's become slums. When you see something like this, you stop that vehicle and write them a citation and believe me, it will get back to the Department Head and they will make darned sure the doors are completely closed every time they hit the highway to dump their load.

One thing that has to be considered is if the Deputy was on his/her way into Court?

  1. Speaking for the deputy in question, he was on the way to cvourt. He still should have done his DUTY and pulled the truck over.

  4. Why would they stop that truck? They don't even stop people driving without a license, with out of state tags, no insurance and living close to the sheriff dept. And that's after the vehicle has been reported to them several times!! But look out if you recently moved here from another state, have a drivers license and insurance, the sheriff will be knocking on your door!

  5. The new generation of police officers have a different attitude. "Me, Me, Me. You owe me. What can I do to make life easy for ME." Seems to be the attitude de jour. Truthfully, it's not the profession - the entire generation seems to be that way. It spans all professions. This situation seems to capture the mentality well.

What do you think the citizens were thinking when they saw debris flying out of a trash truck on to a Sheriff's Patrol Unit, and he just let that happen without so much as a traffic stop? Respect for the entire organization can quickly erode with a few public displays such as this.
