I once went to work on this weekend, one Friday, way back when it was "on the day", and got home late on Monday. I was "on call" in labor & delivery at the hospital. Monday eve. there wasn't a pregnant woman within miles of Wicomico county. My weekend visitors left without my having seen them. That was back when the hospital didn't pay you for overtime. It was expected of you "for the patients" and if you didn't like it, you could go elsewhere. You got a minimal amount of "on call" pay. I'm talking, a few bucks...less than 5. Hopefully, things have changed.
I am spending the day with my father, a korean war vet. Tommorow we are going to DC to the veitnam war memorial then to to arlington to vist with some fallen friends.
