It's Not Called Anti Semitism, It's Called Pro Fairness

60 Years ago today the State of Israel was formed.jewish flag

How many of you know how that occurred? We can read lots of different versions on the events of the day, but after 60 years things that may have been done wrong at the time are overlooked and written off, especially from those who benefit from the situation.

60 years ago today after World War II and the atrocities that happened to the Jewish People in Nazi Germany and throughout Europe. The United Nations, and the United States with the urging of the Jewish People it was decided that a homeland was needed. After much discussion the Jewish People said that they had only one homeland and that was the Holy Land, where much of their ancient history took place. Thus with the support of the UN and the US the State of Israel was formed. It was formed dead center in the Holy Land where Christs very feet had trod. Where Solomon’s Temple once stood, where Jesus and Peter walked on water, and eventually where Christ died.

The only problem was, this area was owned and occupied by a nation called Palestine.

The Palestinians had lived there since Biblical Times as well, however due to issues that the Hebrews had they were exiled from their land, and after regaining their freedoms they scattered all over the earth, mostly Europe where they became very successful businessmen and woman.

Since the Palestinians had lived in this land for nearly two thousand years, they built homes and offices and schools, and gas stations and grocery stores, and manufacturing plants, and all of the things that go along with living in a country. These places belonged to these people.

palestine flag Between the years of 1947 and 1949 over 700,000 civilians were displaced as an act of ethnic cleansing and over 149 villages were raised. To make way for their new inhabitants.

When it was decided that there was to be formed a Nation of Israel our Government and the UN went into Palestine and we bulldozed peoples home where people were living and sleeping. We bulldozed business’ where people were working, and after the bulldozing was finished we helped install barbed wire to keep the Palestinians out of this newly formed nation.

Our country supplied thousands of trailers for the new Israeli settlers to live in, and as an act of humanity we supplied the Palestinians with tents and blankets. The Palestinians became more than a little pissed and the two began fighting and they fight to this day.

The US has supported the State of Israel to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars per year, not to mention equipping their military with the finest equipment money can buy.

Additionally, we have supported them in their quest for nuclear power and weaponry.

Each year the violence escalates, the Israelis’s give back a little land, then they take it back , then they give back a lot of land and build the biggest wall we have ever seen next to the Great Wall. This wall now divides neighborhoods. Imagine if a wall was placed between old town Pocomoke and Walmart, and in order to get to Walmart you had to wait in line to get through the gate that was manned by armed guards who wanted to see your passport, birth certificate, and tax bill to make sure you were current before you could pass to go and get your food. Oh and I almost forgot. Imagine if the wall opening was only 18 inches wide, and you had to leave your car on your side of the wall. checkpoint

This is what life is like in Israel and Palestine each and every day. Instead of making it one country where they can peacefully coexist the government interfered and took these people properties and gave them to someone else.. They didn’t go in and buy them at a fair market and say something like “Hi, I’m a Jewish settler and this where my people were originally from and I would like to buy your house and your business” . No, the UN and the US helped them take it from the current owners and put them behind fences like animals.

Have you ever wondered why they just can’t get along? Plain and Simple…this is why.

How would you respond?

An interesting note. there is a group of older Jewish woman who have taken up the call to monitor the Israeli soldiers at the checkpoints to make sure that the Palestinians are being treated fairly. Much abuse has been suffered at these checkpoints from completely ignoring the people trying to get through for hours on end to physically abusing and sometimes killing them. These women feel that their presence helps the situation because they are old and remind the soldiers of their grandmothers or aunts and they would never behave that way in front of them so they are hesitant to behave that way in front of these ladies. The group calls themselves Grandmothers Against the Occupation.

They believe that what the Israeli government is doing is occupying and think that it isn’t right. They go as far as demonstrating on the streets and asking that the occupation be abandoned as they feel that what the Israeli government is doing to the Palestinian People is no different than what Hitler did to them.

To see a map and see the Israeli and Palestinian prospective from the people who live there click here and view the map. It is incredible Is our involvement serving humanity? Is our involvement serving justice? Is this something we need to continue to be involved in? Is this how we want to be perceived around the world

  1. You must be some kind of Genius. Being able to take a complex situation and in a few paragraphs explain the last 60 years. What about the 250,000 Israeli Arabs living in Jerusalem? Don't forget their representatives in the government. Many of those that fled did not have to leave. If you don’t like Jews just spit it out. Your attempt at a history lesson is a joke.

  3. Considering that the president of our country during WWII decided not to let most of the Jews in to escape the horror ripping through thier homes, several prominate families decided to do something. They bought Israel from the Palistines. Palistine thought that the Jews would give up on making a desert livable. In other words the Palestines were getting money and land. Obviously that didn't work out. Unfortunatly, Palistiniens had the most freedom in Israel than in the other arab nations. No other arab nations wanted them on their land, so Israel let them stay. They hold seats in Israel's house of Parliment, but are not to hold a prime minister position. If they did it is believed that all the work that Israelis put into thier land would be ruined. Just for your information Israel and Arab nations have been fighting since bibical times, it didn't start in the 40's.

  4. I am certainly not trying to over simplify 2000 years of malcontent and it is certainly not about not liking Jews.
In fear of sounding clique' some of my closest friends have been Jews.
I think that as Americans we are spoon fed a bunch of BS about the problems in the middle east.
Since the day Abraham denied Hagi's son and later had Isaac there has been no peace.
Anon8:53 Do you think that the problems that are faced on a daily basis in Israel are properly and extensively explained to our children in a history class in our schools? Most of our young people have no clue, and unfortunately many adults have been paying too much attetion either.

To address this subject does not make me a terrorist! I'm talking about fairness and humanity, just because we are talking about Israel should not make it taboo to speak about. Many Israeli's are finding the current situation in Israel to be far too much like what they experienced in Europe, and want it to stop.
    Anon: 10:29,
I thought I had made myself clear that I was addressing modern times as today is the 60th Birthday of the State of Israel.
Yes, I am quite clear this did not just start in the 40's.
I would like to read your information about the few prominent families who 'purchased' Palestine do you have any references that you can sight, as I truly am interested.
    Thanks,
    Steph

  5. To read and brief (and I mean brief) history of the region and conflict visit this link. http://www.globalissues.org/Geopolitics/MiddleEast/Palestine/Background.asp Many American Jews and Israelis are not happy with what is going on and how the Palestinians have been and are being treated. Regardless, to compare their (Palestinians) plight to that of Europe’s Jews in the 30’s and 40’s is ridiculous. Open dialogue is welcomed and encouraged however so much information has been politicized unless you take the time and effort to research the information we end up with half–truths and misconceptions about the conflict that people like you are just to happy to pass along. How long do you think we would allow rockets from Mexico or Canada to kill our people before we struck back?

  6. Rabbi White from Congregation Beth Israel is very knowledgeble about Israel's history. I am sure he will be able to answer many of your questions.

  7. The Bible states very precisely what land belongs to the Jews. (I can give you chapter and verse if you like) It is a tiny portion of the Middle East known as Israel. The Bible also tells clearly what will happen to those who try to take Israel away from the Jews.
Why should we support Israel? GOD: "I will curse those who curse them, and I will bless those who bless them." God wasn't joking, just ask Hitler. I'm afraid if we elect Osama Obama, our historical course will change in a very bad direction. Some people don't even understand that the whole purpose of our Blessed United States of America was to enable the return to Israel by the Jews and give them protection and strength till Armagedon.

If we ever turn on Israel, we will cease being blessed and incur the wrath of God. Vote McCain!

  8. If you have to address each of us individually, maybe it is you who has the problem..Get off the Shore once in awhile. Your attempts to wax philosophically (more like a Turtle Wax)make citizens of Dundalk look enlightened.

  9. Just a few observations.

Considering that Israel has only had a come back in the last 60 years I would say the
Bible quotes about the "curse" has not worked for the hundreds of years when the nation of Israel went away and only made a come back recently.

So let ma ask everyone here how many of you are ready to give your house and land back to the Native Americans? They were put in camps, given blankets with small pox (first bio-weapon, killed by the hundreds. I'm sure they have spiritual beliefs that say people who curse them will be cursed.

Hello! Obama is a Christian. How many times are people going to keep this redneck idea he is a muslim? My God read a book and a newspaper.

I case you want to know I'm a McCain supporter.

  10. The beginnings were with the Balfour Declaration at the end of WWI. The US and Britian agreed to create Israel after helping to defeat Germany. Great Britian was all but beaten until President Wilson got us into WWI. He then helped to create the Federal Reserve.

  12. The Bible says the Jews would be scattered about the Earth for hundreds of years, then, in the last days, returned to Israel.

Of course Osama Obama says he's a Christian; so did Hitler. Has anyone heard or READ about Rev. Wright? This combined with Obama's Muslim heritage, reluctance to wear an American flag pin or failing to even show proper respect for our flag during our national anthem renders his claim of being a "Christian" suspect at the very best. He is smart enough to know he would never get elected were he to declare his love for Islam and Muslim enemies of the holy state of Israel. Hillary said she would wipe Iran off the map if they attacked Israel; Bill said he would take up arms, himself, to defend Israel from the Muslim hoards. Obama, like Hitler, is a dangerous man.

Why, if 95 percent of blacks vote for Obama because he is black, it is fine with the media, but if whites vote against him for the same reason, combined with his history with Wright and Ayres, they are racist?

As for America: ever hear of manifest destiny?

When the holy state of Israel was established, a powerful rabbi told Truman, "MR. Truman, you were put in your mother's womb for your role in establishing the modern state of Israel." Truman didn't disagree.

As we know from Truman's most excellent ending of Japan's military ambitions, he had a very real grasp on what actions were needed in the real world.

So, yes, unlike some, I do read and at more than a superficial, childish level.

  16. What I said was not intended to insult anyone or anyones religion, just a snippet of history that in todays media conglomerate society is intentionally overlooked.
If you think that you are getting the full story of whats going on over there you got another think coming.
Just look at how you have demonized the the message and messenger in just speaking of this arena.

  17. This is off topic, but who is the numnuts that thinks dropping two atomic bombs and killing & scarring hundreds of thousands of innocent people was an "excellent ending of Japan's military ambitions?"
