OCVFC PRESS RELEASE
The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company (OCVFC) and the Mayor & City Council have reached a tentative agreement regarding the future of fire service. This agreement is scheduled to be ratified Monday April 21, whereby the Mayor & City Council will appoint current OCVFC Chief, Chris Larmore, to the position of Fire Chief overseeing the OCVFC, the career paramedic firefighters, and the Fire Marshall's office. OCVFC members were given the details of this proposed agreement at their regular business meeting, and voted unanimously to support the direction and recommendations contained therein. The OCVFC, its administrative leadership, and Chief Larmore enthusiastically look forward to establishing an outstanding relationship with the Mayor & City Council, City Manager Dennis Dare, the career paramedic firefighters, and the Fire Marshall's office to build a world class combination department to serve our citizens and visitors.
I apologize for this, probably dumb, question. I have not been paying attention to this situation.
ReplyDeleteIs the VOLUNTEER chief going to act as boss of the whole fire department in OC? For free? That certainly must be a full-time job plus.
That is a sad state of affairs when a volunteer, uneducated, minimally trained volunteer firefighter is offered the position of Fire Chief over experienced, seasoned firefighter/paramedics. This goofball will have the power and authority to fire or make career ending decisions for these dedicated career employees. This guy was recently in a Fire Officer I class and dropped out. This class is a basic leadership class for low level company officers and the Fire Chief doesn’t even have this certification. Can anyone smell a rat here? This is going to come back and haunt the Ocean City Emergency Services and the Ocean City Mayor and Council for years to come. What a big MISTAKE!!! You can bet Jay Jester has something in it for him, right “Chief Jester!”
ReplyDeleteYes he is, refer to the other post's. I understand he did well building homes in the recent economy, and can afford to take off. I did a search and it seems has been working with these issues full time for the last few years. Also judging by the majority, it looks like he will do a good job.
ReplyDelete8:32 all you do is seem to find everything wrong with him. Do you see anything right? Everyone other than the union seems to. Does the union need a bottle and a mommy to help with the crying? You guys are going to continue to make your extremely overpaid salaries and only work 10 days a month. Come to work collect your money enjoy your benefits and move on your little way.
ReplyDelete8:32, I bet you are a real prize. Hope you keep abreast over the next few months, it will take you that long to get you foot out of your mouth. I have watched this entire process, and it looks like the entire department, the city, the public, and numerous consultants all agree, and your sitting in Salisbury, probably being paid to trash everyone and stir sh**. Everyone can see through you. Sussex County FF
ReplyDelete8:32, Well, what would you say about Jester being the Chief. He has more training than 90% of the "dedicated career employees". You would still disagree, and make excuses. This is a classic case of jealousy, I had Fire Officer 1 and 2 and learned more about "leadership" in grade school. Get a life.
ReplyDeleteThe new chief has more training than the chief he replaced, and I don't mean the volunteer one. The union president was quoted during the council meeting as saying "he is capable and competent", but opposed the proposal because he was a volunteer. He has also been in command of numerous working incidents through the years and did an great job. I don't agree with his recent discipline of a cadet member at all, and Chris can be arrogant, but I will give him a chance. One thing no-one can hold against him, he is honest, and tells it like it is. Does your boss? I am more concerned about our new volunteer chief, than I am about Chris. Yes, I am a volunteer, guess that means I don't know anything either.
ReplyDeleteLarmore was very clear to the volunteers Tuesday night, that this would only work with the support of the career side, and that he would continue to work for their best interests also. One of the union members was there, ask him. Larmore has never done anything but stand by the union until they tried to screw the OCVFC. After all that, he still forgave them ( Larmore made a point to comend Joe Theobald, that worthless pos) I believe him, although I think he stupid for taking this job. He should have got out when he could. Why anyone would want this headache is beyond me.
ReplyDelete9:13 If you read close, this does not look like it came from the Ocean City Fire/EMS, because he jumped on Jester. Lets give our guys a chance, the Chief asked us to, and I agree. They have a union because the city screwed them. By and large are a great group, and I for one wish to move forward. OCVFC1
ReplyDelete"I hope all this comes to a resoloution. Will you all be able to accept J. Jester as a 3rd Assistant Chief? I am curious as to whether J will be able to get his stipend for being President and a stipend for being 3rd AC.
ReplyDeleteEither way Good Luck."
I have not herd anything from Jester about running for 3rd AC, but it is my understanding that Savage is very interested in the position and intends on running. At least Savage has a cool temper, has managed to stay out of trouble, and can get along with and manage people.

Actually I'm in OC getting paid. Don't go to Salisbury much, they have worse problems then we do.

Are we talking about building houses or saving lives?? What does he know about running an effective Emergency Services Organization?

Isn't this the same highly trained instructor who got suspended for getting a new student injured during a basic firefighter class. Didn't he almost get this student killed for doing something that isn't even taught? You need to get a life, leaders like this are dangerous.
Put the mess to rest guys... This will all play out either Chris will sink and you all can laugh at him or he will succeed and everyone will be laughing at the anonymous posts.
ReplyDeleteMark my words, a leopard never loses it spots. Keep a close eye on "chief" Larmore. He will eventually show his true colors. Just stand by and watch the show.
ReplyDelete3:34 Thats right, he stands up to anyone, (just check the city web site and download the meetings) wants to do a good job, and seems honest. Funny, he has been a fire chief since I moved to WOC, and I don't ever remember hearing anything negative until this started. Seems a few cry babies didn't get their way, that's all. As a retired BCC firefighter, I listen to a 800 scanner every day, and I have heard this chief command many scenes through the years, and do an EXCELLENT job. Furthermore, he has the support of the volunteer company, public, and city managers, so I agree, time to rest the negative, and years from now, when he does succeed, (for a dollar a year I might add) then lets see who gets the last laugh.
ReplyDeleteI have known Chris for 20 plus years, don't underestimate him, give him support and everyone will prosper, give him a fight and he will fight back. Remember, he doesn't need the job, you do. I sued his boss one time, and I saw a side of him (Chris)most don't know, he can be a real ass and will fight dirty and hard, trust me. No-body won btw.
