hey joe when are you gonna blog about westside VFD's grocery getter? we have seen the blogs about county and state police officers driving their familys to red lobster and such in their duty cars. We have all seen the Westside volunteer fire department van running around town at walmart and just everywhere in general. yes currently they have a event coming up very shortly but I seem to see the westside utility 1203 once a week in town. why do my tax dollars fund a vehicle to go run arrons or go on a "beer run". joe please get your camera out and start blogging I want to know the reason behind this.
Because WVFD is not as strict on rules as other County FDs are. Truth be known...they do use the vehicle to run into Slawsberry to pick up supplies for fire department but while they are in town they usually go eat at a sit down resturant or run personal errands. Why don't they allow the members that work in Seebury to pick up supplies before leaving town after their work hours.
Your tax dollars don't fund that. It's a VOLUNTEER department that raise their own money to buy fuel and other expences. Very little of your tax dollars go to the volunteers.

Um, check the county website again, they are funded by county tax dollars as are all the fire department. They recieve county funding for the ambulance and the fire trucks. They also conduct fundraisers.
When most VFC vehicles are on the road, FOR ANY REASONABLE reason they are also available to help you, or someone else, and respond. In addition, yes it's a "perk" to some officers. What is the world coming to folks, lets just bit** about every police, county, and state take home car also, and how most Americans fund some worthless fool that can't work, lets not stop at those that volunteer to help you in your darkest hour.
first off, westside's community will ALWAYS donate to them. second, their gas is funded by "WADES" lol for those who are familiar. We have a steak dinner this weekend and need, well, steak I suppose. DO not start bashing westside, they are a dedicated group that anyone of them will give their right arm to help you. Not just in an emergency, but anytime. They love their community and we love them.

the funding they get from the county is earmarked for equipment--not fuel

ReplyDeleteAnother firefighter hater. You got a buddy somewhere on the westside, Joe!
ReplyDeletespend those donations wisely, things may not allow folks to be able to donate this year.
