Major Meeting All Day In Ocean City

Monday will be a very long day for the OC Mayor, City Council, OC Fire Department and several other Fire Chief's from around the State of Maryland.

I met with Mayor Mehan this evening who invited me out tomorrow from 9 to 5 for an all day meeting with several Fire Chiefs in an attempt to negotiate some kind of agreement with the Volunteer Fire Service in Ocean City.

I'm told one of the Fire Chief's will be Salisbury's very own Fire Chief See. The idea is to open some dialogue with other departments to see just how they can blend such a mix and make it work.

That being said, it looks like I'll be LIVE all day from Ocean City. I'll be sure to drop by the old Dough Roller and do a follow up on what's left in that location as well as some other stories I've been looking into out there.

There's one story I'll touch on and that's a new herb Salvia, (sp?) being sold at many of the Sunsations around town. I'm told it's very similar to LSD and legal across the counter right now. I was also informed many Hospitals are unaware of what it is, therefore they don't know how to treat someone who od's on it. More to come.....

  1. Don't forget the Salisbury Council meeting -- that budget amendment is coming up again, and it looks like Campbell and Cohen have cut it way down from what Barrie wanted at the last meeting (including the extra money for legal fees).

Another big "thank you" to Debbie and Terry seems to be in order.

  3. Salvia is horrible!
I heard about it a couple of years ago and have heard this from many kids! They say it makes them feel like they are dying and spent the entire time while 'high' on this stuff begging God not to let them die!
I was shocked when they told me they bought it from a store in Salisbury.
Just because something is legal doesn't mean that it is by any means safe.
These kids were freaked out and have told everyone they know how awful this stuff is.

  4. Salvia is a staple in most perennial gardens. Very pretty, usually with purple blooms. Have grown it for years.

Never been dumb enough to ingest it!!!

The effects of Salvia last for like 10 minutes - please don't believe the scare tactics...it's a naturally occuring plant that has deeply rooted traditions. Maybe the idiot kids who claim to be "dying" from it don't realize what it's for.

  6. I line my walk with it, it is beautiful and the perrenial version is a sturdy reliable plant. I was shocked when I heard these ding-a-lings were smoking it.

  7. That Salvia ain't cool. I am an old deadhead who won't touch that stuff. I know a big guy-hard partier who had such a bad reaction he spent 10 hours in the closet pissing on himself because he also was convinced he was going to die.

  8. The salvia you all are growing is more than likely not Salvia Divinorum or Diviners Mint. I'm surprised to see this on the market yet again, no I'm not. People seem to have a huge spiritual void and are looking for anything that will make them "see God". If they looked around they'd see God everywhere their eyes rested. First it was Peyote now its sage. It's sad to see the huge void in the lives of our youth. This void can't be filled by all the material things parents bestow upon them. It is as obvious as the nose on your face, these kids need more than cars, Ipods, video games etc. If you listen carefully, you can hear their cries.

    Whats next? Nutmeg?

    FYI Nutmeg is a hallucinogen.

  9. I have it growing in a ring around my mailbox...it is very pretty when it blooms. Why in the world would anyone try and smoke a flower? These kids are looking for ANY way to get high, apparently. How sad it is that this is how they spend their time....

  11. Salvia Divinorum is the strain, not to be confused with the ornamental varietys sold in garden stores. Erowid.org has in-depth info if you're interested in doing research. Basically, when smoked, comes on in <30sec, lasts for 15min & is INTENSE (i.e. dying/ meet your maker type of scenarios). Definitely not a recreational substance but used for centuries in it's native (south american) environment for spiritual journeys & divination (they chew; don't smoke) in strictly controlled ritual settings. My thoughts; keep it legal & regulate it's sale to informed adults with set penalties for enabling minors (just like booze). Don't make it illegal but certainly don't allow over the counter sales to children looking for a "legal high".

  13. Sunsations is a cancer.

  14. Sunsations owned and operated by camel jockeys. They don't give a shit what they sell or who they sell it to. Look at all of their convenience stores. They look like flea markets with all the junk they sell. They are in it for the money. It's not their kids using this stuff so what do they care?

  15. Why would they invite the fire chief from Salisbury? Didn't he ruin the volunteer service in Salisbury a couple of years ago when he took the promotion? If I remember correctly he took all the power away from the volunteers as well as their money? Didn't he send some of his people to Delagate Norman Conway's wife's place of employment to deliver some of his hate mail and threatening Delagate Conway's position as a volunteer?
