Breaking News! Picket In Front Of Sun Trust Bank To Take Place At Noon!

Salisbury News just learned a small group of citizens will be picketing in front of Sun Trust Bank on W. Carroll Street at Noon because its Vice President of Mortgages, Rod Flowers, is involved with Captain Investments trying to redo their property lines at 1004 Camden to pack in even MORE housing in this peaceful neighborhood.

From what I hear, these people are not picketing Sun Trust, but are PLEADING with Rod Flowers to not have their neighborhood ruined, BEGGING Sun Trust to help Rod "do the right thing."

A small group, you say? That's because while Paul Wilber turned in opinions LAST FALL on how the P&Z Commission could give the investors their wish, the CITIZENS ONLY GOT 3 BUSINESS DAYS OF NOTICE!

Show you care, Salisbury! Pop down there for a few minutes and join in!

  1. How is Rod Flowers involved, isn't it unethical as a mortgage broker to lend money to yourself?

  2. Joe:

Where does Flowers live -- a mock college beer bash in the road this weekend (about midnight Sat.) could be instructive.

  3. Rod Flowers is a partner in Captain Investments. Captain Investments is trying to break up a property on Camden so they can pack more housing in where they've already turned a single-family home into an apartment house.

The mortgage is held by another bank on this one. But holy cow, Captain Investments has turned a TON of single-family homes into non-family rentals.

What IS it with Salisbury that rich high-level banking guys who deal in mortgages are involved in this development crap?

  4. It's not illegal or unethical for a property owner or owners to attempt to rezone or reconfigure a property. The problems is when the authorities ALLOW such things to occur, and the due processes of law are not followed. The hearing process is to allow all surrounding owners to voice their opinions and then have the members of the board or the council make a decision on what's right.
Can we depend on these people to do that?

ANSWER: It's in their DNA. "Highly Successful" real estate agents and mortgage brokers/bankers often carry the greed gene. Thus you will often find them involved with "investments" and other speculation schemes outside of their main business where fast bucks and big bucks can be made.

Put another way, they didn't get into mortgage or real estate brokering, their principal business, to work with the poor to do "God's work." Greed, Dude.

P.S., thanks Joe for keeping everyone informed.

  6. Wiber is told everything he knows about law. Also instructed how to get around it, just write new legislature. Try to get an answer from him, "Off of the Cuff." Just won't happen.

  7. Rod Flowers needs to recuse himself from Captain's Investments or SunTrust...he can't do both
    ethically (if that matters).

Try rezoning the house next to his into a multi-family and see how quickly his wife drives away in her Jaquar or Land Rover. This is not much ado about nothing; its much ado about GREED.

While the Leers and Malones while away in Jamaica; little Rod Flowers is holding the bag for them. Shame, shame, shame, Rod's still the same twerp he was in high school only he forgets where he came from.
