Big Time Problems At Polygamist Retreat

Leaders at a Polygamist Compound in West Texas refused to let authorities search a temple for a teenage girl whose report of abuse led to the raid Saturday and authorities said they were preparing for the worst.

If an agreement isn't reached soon they will remove certain leaders as peacefully as possible. A search warrant authorized troopers to enter the retreat while they are looking for evidence of a marriage between the girl and a 50-year-old man.

Court documents showed the girl had a baby eight months ago when she was only 15 years old. Under Texas law, girls younger than 16 cannot marry, even with parental approval.

  3. Female children in such a society are completely powerless. I'm glad someone is watching out for them, and somehow coming to their aid.

  4. We need a good Vice President who is a Mormon. Then everyone will find out that Polygamy is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

  5. Polygamy is another kind of family unit.Usually we think of a man with more than one wife. I see nothing wrong with this as long as the man can afford to keep two women and treat both equally with love, respect and honor them as individuals. The family units that I have trouble accepting is two men or two women marrying and functioning as a family. Fair is fair. Right is right. If we don't follow the Bible and live as man and woman, then these other family units must all be accepted by law but not necessarily by the church.

  6. Some people are accepting and some states are allowing same sex marriages to be legal. The Bible directs man and woman marriages[ family unit] which is my belief. But if we are going to allow alternate family units, then all must be accepted by law but not necessarily by the church. Fair is fair. Personally, I had rather see polygamy rather than same sex family units. If a man can afford to keep more than one wife and treat all with respect, provide equal love and attention and give individual honor to all, then he is a just husband to all. This is an acceptable family unit by law.
