Louise And Barrie "Get Their Game On"!

The Game? With the title sung to the children's chant:
"I'm More Transparent That Youuuu Are, Neener, Neener, Nee-nerrr!"

As I noted in an earlier post, Louise Smith felt that if she repeated the word "transparency" enough times at the city council meeting Monday night, people might think she was actually promoting transparency.

She and the Mayor Barrie both pounded on Debbie Campbell's motions to put items on the agenda about overdrawing accounts and strengthening financial oversight with:

"We shouldn't add things to the agenda because it doesn't give the public notice and that doesn't promote transparency."

(Now we have "City1732" posting on the Daily Times StoryChat that very same mantra. Could the regulars on that little "chat" be right that City1732 is Mayor Barrie herself? She sure isn't spending time worrying about the city's finances.)

Cohen supported Campbell and said she was all for public notice, but these things needed to be addressed, or something to that effect. Campbell pointed out that she had made several requests to place the items on the agenda, but was refused.

Game, set, match to Campbell.

You see, Louise and Barrie, we peons learned MORE about what's going on from that discussion Monday night than we ever would have from a little public notice. And if you were REALLY transparent, it WOULD have been on the agenda.

Louise, Barrie, when it comes to transparency, Campbell and Cohen will best you every time. Why? Because unlike you, it's not a game to them to be won by 11th-hour phrases. They live it. Their honest in their dealings. They have a long reputation for being straight up that goes way back before they got elected. You two? You only have to look at your recent track record.

Let's see...Louise Smith touted accountability, transparency and fiscal responsibility during her campaign.

Record? Sides with mayor on almost everything including the color of the toilet paper. Keeps anything Campbell wants off the agenda. Closes down meetings when she doesn't get to perform. Breaks her own rules. Lied to the people who campaigned for her.

The Mayor? Withholds information from all but her anointed ones. Pushes to add to bureaucracy. Sneaks a charter amendment in at the last minute to raise taxes through the roof. Hides the fact that the audit says our financial situation is "ripe for fraud" until it just can't be hidden no mo'.

Ah, yes. Very transparent, those two.

As for City1732's assertion that Campbell and Cohen play "gotcha," here's a clue: Barrie and The Puppets do "gotcha" to themselves. They don't need a lick of help.

And not putting the insurance overdrafts on this agenda and waiting 'til March 24 to discuss it? Louise and John Pick said the administration needed time to "prepare." (How much time do they need? Didn't Cohen say the accounts have been overdrawn since at least Jan. 30?) Yep. They're going to prepare their excuses why overdrafting an account by $45,000 is no big deal. They're going to prepare why their pattern of fiscal irresponsibility is no big deal. And they're going to prepare their next attack on Debbie Campbell.

Because that's the name of another game they love to play: Attack Debbie Campbell.

And they aren't winning that one either.

  1. What on heaven's earth are you talking about? Louweasal is all about transparency, we can a see right through her bullshit. Pick looks uncomfortable there, can say as I blame him. He's got that "One more year to go," look.

If they only knew that most people see Debbie in a different light, Much like this blog, the more they talk about it the more people it attracts.

As so with the support for Debbie Campbell. Many may have a weak stomach and scared when it comes to getting to council meetings and speaking, however they are free to vote their mind and the mayor and staff just appear to be bullies.

  3. Sir:

This excellent post results in these brief observations:

    1. Louise Smith is a Trojan Horse that was foisted upon us last year by the same FOB's who recruited the Dream Team (Dunn, Cathcart & Comegys) in 2003. The perpetrators include the Chamber of Commerce leadership and probably SAPOA. We fell for their scam -- serious scrutiny of her would have revealed the truth.

    2. Salisbury should retain forensic auditor such as the County has retained to investigate the landfill situation. There's too much smoke to not be caused by fire.

  5. I find it extremely disturbing to read the comments by City1732 and NotNuts. Clearly they are persons that have direct involvement with the city council. Their comments are terribly skewed , full of twisted illogical and untrue venom directed at Campbell and Cohen. At times blatantly vulgar, always spinning things so far from the actual truth it is nauseating how borderline psycho these people really are.

  6. Pick and Wilber are freaking eunichs, what hairless weenies both of them are, castrated openly by Barrie T. Man up you wussies and TELL THE TRUTH for once. She is going to throw you under the bus before she takes any blame for things.

  7. At Monday's meeting, it was obvious that Scary Barrie had about 5 drinks too many before she got there.

Maybe you should contact Doug Gensler at the State Attorney General's Office and inform him of the misappropriation of funds. A mass calling, e-mailing and letter writing campaign ought to get the State's attention. Contact the Criminal Investigations Division. They prosecute criminal activity within State government (Salisbury is included). They deal with fraudulent misappropriation by public officials, misconduct in office by public officials, and falsifications of public records.

  9. From the city1732:

"Good for Smith Comegys and Shields for not allowing Polk and Siggers, I mean Cohen and Campbell, to add items to the agenda."

On one hand, you have to have an item on the agenda to be able to discuss it openly at council meets. On the other, to add something to the agenda is voted down on a regular basis.
And what do Ms. Polk & Siggers have to do with this any who?

"No public notification except their own followers,"

The public is notified of what??? Since when??? How often??? Is there an ad in the paper regarding council agenda? Not everyone has computer access.
Public notification is not required for much. How about notification of how to spend our money? How to not leave nearly 20 million lying around in uninsured, wrong, unaccounted for accounts? Changing the charter? Spending without council approval? (and others TNTC.)
Notify the public the REAL story on the audit.

"no time for the rest of the council or the administration to prepare, no government in the sunshine"...

Prepare what? Excuses, lies, more "unity", more govt. in the sunshine?
Try preparing what's needed to the best of your ability, with nothing to hide, for all to see.

"...much like their underground city government."

    Now there's a new one...for a change.

"There (should be "their") tactics are akin to the terrorist using IED's my question when will they throw the next bomb?"

You have no clue as to the use of IED's...Baaaaad analogy. You're the pot stirring bomb thrower, imo.(or try to be) What's next? Afraid of what's to come?
We'll just have to wait & see what's the next smoke screen?
More young people making music somewhere in a church? Or a recall, perhaps?

"No fact just rhetoric and accusations."

You're the one with the same old rhetoric... You say Campbell & Cohen this, that & the other are the root of all that's wrong with your gov't. Incompetents, all of you! Errors of omission & commission, BOTH constitute NEGLIGENCE.

No way to know any facts in this instance. NOTHING could be discussed.

No one accused anyone of anything. Just a request to add so called overexpenditures to the agenda for discussion. If those who should know, don't know, then there IS a problem!

Might i point out that mr. "c" discussed the "bike trail" AFTER a motion passed, 3 to 2. An exercise ole smitty won't allow from the Ms.' Cohen & Campbell. And she NEVER asks for any new business. I know why. Her "script" hasn't been prepared.

  11. Yet it seems ok to raise the tax cap through emergency legislation, then raise our taxes with little public input or notice. I can't count the number of times emergency legislation comes from the mayor beacuse "if we don't do it now..." the sky will fall. I don't understand what "I take responsibility" means from Barrie Tilghman, nothing ever happens to her when her administration messes up.

  12. Barrie was so afraid of Polk she sicced her boarding school brat on her. Thats what I call a good mother. NOT!

  13. mr. c would never had been re-elected if last years budget came out on time instead of after the election. Favoring the tax hike was political suicide. he is the senior council person and wasn't even appointed as council president, what makes him even think he'd get elected as mayor?

  14. Barrie must have been ripped Monday night at the meeting. She rode in with Gary Comegys and left before the meeting was near over. As a matter of fact, she left not long after Chief Webster. The last 2 meetings Barrie left early, right after Chief Webster. Whats going on here Barrie? Is she trying to swing with the chief or is she so afraid of Mike Lewis and his deputies that she now needs a police escort home to avoid that DUI that she knows is coming, it's only a matter of time.

Lets see who gloats when you're mug is all over the news. He who laughs, laughs last.

  16. Good post Joe and I certainly agree with most of the comments in this thread. Writing and complaining to the OAG is the way to go now. What this bunch has done is above the laws of this state and this city and it is about time to put the skids under it all. It all began back in the mayors first term when she wired a large amount of public money to an attorney without the approval of council and that was strictly against the City Charter!
