Once The Mayor Is Gone

There have been many statements about what might happen should the recall against Mayor Barrie Tilghman be a success. Here's the answer to your question.

First of all, they have 90 days to get 3,500 registered voter signatures. On a side note, I'd get every signature possible, including non registered voters. The reason I say that is, this Mayor should know how many people out there feel ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. If someone tells you they're not a registered voter, have a secondary sheet for them to sign and thank them for their support.

After they have received more than 3,500 registered voter signatures and Brenda Colegrove confirms the recall has been successful, the City has another 30 days to set up an election. Voters will then be asked to come out and vote to recall the Mayor.

Once she's been voted out, then it is up to the City Council to appoint a new Mayor of their choosing and this person has to accept the position, obviously. It's my understanding that 47 News will have a piece on this today, perhaps at Noon?

Hopefully this helps everyone to better understand what's involved to get this done and how they'll move forward. ARE YOU READY?

  2. Unfortunately, I'm a registered voter but not here in Salisbury though I read the news everyone else is and she has to go!!! The registered voters here in Salisbury need to pull together and get her OUT!

  3. You Bet! on the question on the post.

  5. No head bumping here, just looking at the possibility. Not much would change.

  6. The council is split 3-2, its scary to think of who they might appoint.

  7. There's a HIGH chance Comegys would be appointed by "his girls" on the council.

All the more reason to recall him AND Louise.

Anyone who voted for that charter amendment to hike our taxes without having looked at the budget didn't do their duty. Those two have aided and abetted the mayor with that dereliction for too long.

Shanie, too, but I don't know if she's worth the bother.

  8. Once again--I urge anyone who has any goods on improprieties with the mayors office please speak up! Now is the time to hit her from all directions so she cannot focus. Recall, defending imprprieties, explaining the budget fiasco, WWTP, on and on...Let it rip.

This is exactly why the recall petition needs to be expanded to include Bubba and the Weasel. Please use your head and include those two in the recall or we will have wasted all of our time and resouces.

  12. Chill out, people. In the case of a recall, there's a special election. The council only appoints the mayor in the event of resignation, disability or death.

Proving again, that if this mayor had any class or was taking full responsibility, she'd resign.

  13. There is NO APPOINTMENT in a recall. Once the signatures are verified that they are legitmate and as many as required there will be a reaffirmation vote. This vote is to recall or reaffirm the mayor and or council members. THEN once they are in fact recalled via a reaffirmation vote there will be a SPECIAL ELECTION. The same as in California when Gray Davis was recalled. Everybody and their brother came out to run for governor. We will have to elect another mayor and members to council.

THERE WILL BE NO APPOINTMENTS MADE BY COUNCIL. The only way an appointment would be made is if they dropped dead or resigned.

However the majority council members can change the rules again. Do you know how many times the mare has changed rules and sop's in the city? She is a complete dictator and she controls the majority council and the media.

  15. Anon 12:52, Yes she is a complete dictator, but even dictators have their day in court. So, lets go with the recall for her and her monkeys, as well!

  17. I'd vote for Hillary before I'd vote for BPT...and I'd rather die before I voted for Hillary.

    Thus, following the transitive property learned from high school Algebra class;

"If I'd rather die than vote for Hillary, but would rather vote for Hillary than BPT, I would rather die then vote for BPT."

  18. 12:52...yes, they can change the rules, but not while a recall process in play. Score 1 for the citizens.

But you make a good point -- the last Scheme Team did the mayor's bidding, and Scheme Team II is, too.

So, recall Smith and Comegys. They are smeared with the same crap as the mayor because they do her bidding.

Next thing you know they will want us to surrender our guns. As Charlton Heston says, "From my COLD dead hands." Lets Roll.

  21. Is it possible to concurrently and publically ask for the resignation of the Mayor while this recall petitiion gets started? Why also have we not seen this in the paper or on the news, or have I missed it. The heat needs to continue even during this county mess, because I am convinced she is not above reproach. We need to bring as much heat to her as possible.

  22. WMDT TV had an interview with the young man filing for the recall on last nights news at 11. Sounds like a determined young man, kudos to him.

Someone did request her resignation at the last city council meeting. Got to a few of those meetings when you can, it gets very interesting at times.
