McDonald's Is Closed
The McDonald's in East Salisbury is now closed for business. I did see the article in The Daily Times on Sunday but like many, I thought it was a business piece on the owner of several local McDonald's and didn't even think of reading the article.
That being said, I received a few phone calls the past couple of days asking me if I knew what was up. Since the dogs used up our Sunday Paper, I can't exactly tell you but I did call their Headquarters Pounder & Cheese Office and they told me they were expanding and renovating.
So there you have it. Many people are NOT reading The Daily Times and the times are a changing. So for those of you, (like me) who were unaware of them closing their doors, now you know.
On another note referencing this McDonald's, I was told quite some time ago that this building went up in like 3 days. Obviously this has to be an exaggeration but if someone knows the history behind this particular location, I'd like to hear it.
this was a prefab building....like a Nanticoke Home.
ReplyDeletewent up quick, added the glass type summer room as the unit was built too small for what their sales volume turned out to be.
now expanding to handle their sales volume plus what it will be in the future when all the new medical offices open across the street.
I don't remember it going up in 3 days, but I do remember it opened the year of or year after the Shorebirds came to the Stadium.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't know it was closed either, until my husband and I drove up there to eat this past Monday night....surprise!! My husband was not thrilled, LOL! Anyway, a friend of ours that works next to McDonalds said it is supposed to be a lot bigger with an inside playground. That would be awesome!
By the way, we always buy the Daily Times on Sunday but we didn't notice the article.
I was told that this location is the highest grossing McD's on the Eastern Shore besides OC.
ReplyDeleteTom Baxter is a great man with great business sense. He is putting up a new McD's with twice the space as the old one. Is a gold mine!
I have heard people say they wish it would be rebuilt down by Wor-Wic. It would get a lot of business and it would be nice for that area. Besides, there is Denny's, Subway, and Wendy's and Tim's Pizza right there by it now. IMO, I think it would be a great location for it!
ReplyDeleteI've only ever seen one McDonald's close for good.
ReplyDelete1996 or 1997 That Mickey D's arrived in Salisbury on 6 tractor trailers. The building was up in 2-3 days with about 2-4 weeks worth site work, and interior work.
ReplyDeleteever notice that when they first open the food is good warm and FAST, after a few months the service sucks and the immigrants take over...
ReplyDeleteThere were two Mickey D's on Cypress Street. I'm not positive but I thought the first one closed due to it's sinking in the old bog. It was rebuilt only to close for good.
ReplyDeleteDont knock the immigrants. They are willing to work. Locals would rather ride the welfare train. If only the rest of us were as fortunate to be able to get free hand outs.
ReplyDeleteIf im not mistaken this will be demolished or completely gutted and in its place will be the first new - style McD's in this area. the closest one is in Long Neck DE and there is one planned in Delmar DE as well but not until after this location is redone. about 7500 SF with an all brick exterior and no roof with lights running up the sides (like the picture) a grown up version of Mc Donalds if you will..
ReplyDeleteVote for me, Mayor McCheese! I promise to do better than Mayor Tilghman. I resolve to bring new businesses to the area, eliminate gangs, reduce crime, and get audit reports in on time!
ReplyDeletePlease vote for these fine individuals for City Council and other key posts; The Grimace, Birdie the Early Bird, The Fry Kids, The McNugget Buddies, and Ronald McDonald.
No Hamburgler during my administration...take your pick on who that could be in our current administration....
Vote McCheese!
all I know is the burgers work faster than exlax.........those dang screamin deamons......
ReplyDeleteThe Cypress Street Mickey D's, AKA The BLACK MAC, closed when the new one at Pecan Square opened...fyi.
ReplyDeleteOne of the newer McDonalds is on 128th street in Ocean City near to Dumsers.
ReplyDeletei always thought that McDonalds was owned by corporate and the rest were owned by Tom. anyone know?
ReplyDeleteActually pretty much all the lower shore McDonalds are owned by Mr. Baxter. This would include OC, Salisbury and on down to Virginia.
