"I heard the lawn mower races would not be held this year because the county will
not allow them use of the land as in the past. I understand this was a fund
raiser for the West Side Community Center, and didn't cost the county a cent."
Rick Pollitt and Jim Finneran are on this like there's no tomorrow. I expect to post an update on it today.
THAT IS ASHAME MR. TERRY SCOTT WORKED HARD TO MAKE THAT WHAT IT IS TODAY. ME AND MY SON LIKED GOING.THANKS MR TERRY FOR A GREAT TIME.
ReplyDeleteLets face it, the tractor races were ok the first few years, but it is not Nascar nor will it grow into that. I have attended the event each year and the attendance got worse each year and the prices were not very accomadating to a family of four. The ride prices were crazy for the children. The Turtle Races were much more popular than the tractor races will ever be. It is sad the community center will lose this as a fund raiser but I'm sure they will survive as did the fire department.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just a fundraiser, but an opportunity to celebrate a sense of community and have a little fun. It would be a shame to lose it like so many other little events that make living on the shore special...the fireman's Muster was great. That's the first one that I comes to my mind when I think of nice events that we don't have anymore. Who else can think of ones we've lost and missed. Maybe we could bring some of them back,
ReplyDeleteMy family and I traveled an hour to this event last year on Sunday after Church. We spent around $20 to get into the event only to be disappointed because the tractor races were done. The event was advertised from 11 till 5 or 6, We arrived around 1. The food was high priced and I agree the childrens activities were outrageous in price. The only thing we got to see were a few tractor pulls and some interesting motorcycle games.
