The Audit Is NOT Complete And Here's Proof
Not only is there no Management Letter that goes to the State showing the Audit is complete, Trice Geary was scheduled on the Agenda for the next Council Meeting and Louise Smith has in fact pulled them from the Agenda.
This was the very first correct move, (IMO) Louise has made as Council President. Why waste the Council's time having Herb Geary stand in front of the Council making nothing but excuses again. My guess would be, Louise and the Mayor did NOT want to see him plastered all over the Blogs again for not having the Audit complete.
I don't know what kind of wood shed Louise took the Mayor to but may I strongly suggest Louise bring a local Priest with her any more whenever she meets with the Mayor? That is, if she wants better chances of getting the truth out of her.
I'm told they shouldn't expect the letter till mid January now.
Wasn't that auditor's cover letter an issue last year, too? What's up with these people. Geary looks like a dufus, along with Oland, Louise and Barrie. They're some kinda crazy administrators, I'd say. Take them all away, please.
ReplyDeleteLying scumbags.
ReplyDeleteIs this a sick joke?
ReplyDeleteThis is NO joke!
ReplyDeleteNo citizens should leave the next council meeting until Louise or the Mayor explains this fully. If there was such a thing as a "voter filibuster," then it should be exercised to prevent anyone from adjouring the meeting until certain demands are met, or certain information is shared.
ReplyDeleteThe question is "why?" Why is it still unfinished? Why have you been dishonest? Why is no one in government doing anything about it? Why should we 1. believe you or, 2) vote for you ever again?
Wowie. Compelte deriliction of duty. Seriously, what else do you really do in local government other than manage fiscal responsibility?
That auditor Geary seems like a second rate song and dance man. Thanks but no thanks, pal.
ReplyDeleteHow dare the State of Maryland, or anyone else, question what the Mare of Smallsbury does with the people's money. They elected her to be Supreme Matron; she will do as she pleases.
ReplyDeleteSo, here we go again trying to work on next years budget without a complete audit of the past year? I would have been fired for such negligence at the library, so why do we put up with it at city hall? I'd like to know why we had to hire on an accountant (Oland) who obviously is either not in tone with the requirements or does not have an addequate background in accountability, especially accountability to the citizens of this city?! Can't wait for the next ellection.
ReplyDeleteA. Goetz
I hope that the next election results in the election of a new breed of mayor and council. One which will make accountability and fiscal responsibility a priority (real accountability, Louise, not just a lie to get elected). Then I hope these newly elected officials make it a point to dig into the past several years and find out what all this secrecy is about. AND....If they find that people have been embezzling taxpayers money, they prosecute them vigorously and give SBYNEWS the exclusive coverage.
ReplyDeleteI hope the new administration does what Barrie did when she came in to office. She got rid of all the good guys that would not kiss her ass, Coulbourne Dykes, Bob Eaton, and the list goes on and on and on. The new mayor should go through and clean house in reverse, give everyone the boot that Barrie has in place, EVERYONE.
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing stinks like yesterday's garbage. I might be crazy, but is there any way for our local representatives to be presented with this information to take it to the state to let them know jsut what the HELL is going on down here. Is there any way the taxpayers can sue about the tax increase, given the fact the audit wasn't done, and therefore the budget numbers were invalid?
ReplyDeleteOn another topic, I wonder if our local representatives can start a federal case about the state tax increase, as the Eastern Shore would suffer disproportionally to the rest of the state.
I hate to say it but you know I'm going to ...I TOLD YOU it wasn't signed off on by the accountants. Last year they sent the letter back to Trice, Geary to soften the language because it was to harsh on Pam Oland. Poor baby, cant take the heat she should have stayed at Perdue.
