Well, first and foremost, all of you see my pic and know who I am. My belief...if you can't post something, stand behind your belief, and identify yourself, your words mean nothing.
This is a definite first but, it was brought to my husband's attention on Friday that it was believed he was posting on this site because of some alleged race issues within the department. Not that he doesn't care about anyone being allegedly treated unfairly, we just haven't had time to care, let alone comment...until it's concerning us!
I am unsure who has decided to "fight for a cause" by impersonating my husband on this site, but I'd have to say, WOW, you went to great lengths to have people believe it was him when it wasn't. I/we have never, nor ever intend to be the interracial spokescouple for race relations and it's acceptance within the fire department or lack therof.
Although Cor wishes not to entertain this drama, by continuing to not post on blog sites (which I believe is a wise choice), I just could not stand for this person disparaging the deparment, its personnel, or Joe A., when all we've done since our relocating to Salisbury is mind our own business, while enjoying this cute little town and our lives in it.
If anyone knows my husband at all, you would know that we have been together way too long to worry about saying such politically correct words as "african american" or "bi-racial" like this imposter says.
Yes, our children are beautiful MIXED kids and I am Cor's BLACK wife. Never has it been a problem, nor will we allow it to become one. People talk...they always have, they always will, and to all of those people who are talking about our mixed kids or me as a firefighter's black wife....thanks for making us important enough to be the topic of your conversation today.
Sincerely,
Camille
Forgive me for the title Camille, it was necessary IMO.

Worthy Of Attention
Joe...I'm with you on this. These unsupervised renegade firefighters are completely out of control. As soon as they hear "structure fire" they ALL try to get there. Not in the interest of saving anyones property or life but rather they treat it as an "event". If they are there, they can talk on and on about it and try to impress their friends and family. Trust me, I used to volunteer but the political bullshit was way too much to take. They all try to make themselves more important than they are. For anyone from Salisbury or Hebron to say they are "trying to save lives" is complete and utter bullshit. By the time they arrived on scene it would be way too late. This brings me to my next point. To all of you firefighters who come on here and read this, I am sick and tired of hearing about how you "save lives". Is there the possibility that you MAY save someones life? Certainly. However, when was the last time you or your department ACTUALLY saved someones life? I know the EMS and Paramedics do it ALL the time. However, as a firefighter, I would venture to say that you have NEVER saved someones life from a fire. I personally know of a couple of instances and know the people involved. But, if you check the facts, more people die in fire than are actually saved by firefighters. Most are saved by neighbors, police or other citizens. This constant talking about "saving lives" has to stop. It is nothing more than scare tactics to intimidate the uninformed. Most of your work is salvage and search and recovery. Not RESCUE. Like I said, EMS is different. I am talking about actual FIRE response. Tell me, when was the last time you actually SAVED A LIFE. You can have all the retarded t-shirts you want printed with ridiculous phrases like "I go where you fear" or "Firefighters save lives" It's just not true and people need to be informed. I WAS a firefighter so I speak from experience. I know it was all about the thrill of riding in the engine, fighting the fire and being part of the event. If not, why do so many people disappear when it's time to clean the equipment, roll hose or put everything back in service? Why do you have to fight to get people to training or meetings. Because they have no interest in that part...they just want the thrill. Unfortunately, that is the part that put innocent citizens at risk.
Why Other Fire Departments Weren't Call Off Delmar Fire
Obviously Gordy was in charge of the situation in Delmar and it's no wonder why other Fire Departments were called in. I'm thinking, IF Gordy was at home, he must have traveled some 15 miles to this Fire, unless he was at the Greene Turtle?
If he called off Salisbury, perhaps he would have had to go home? Boys and their toys, right Gordy?
Major House Fire In Delmar?
As I stood in my front driveway saying goodbye to one of my Son's, the sounds of sirens got closer and closer until I watched the Hebron Fire Department come by, obviously in a hurry for a fire. I decided to pack my Grandson into the car and go to the scene, all the way in Downtown Delmar. Another Fire Truck came racing up behind us on Rt. 54 on the way and when I came to East Main Street I could see this was a house fire with what seemed like 20 Fire Vehicles there and that's no exaggeration.
At least one Salisbury Fire Departments were there, Hebron and Delmar. The fire was within 1/4 of a mile from the Delmar Fire Station and this is the same street an elderly man was murdered on in his own home earlier this summer and also the same street that huge tree fell over and onto that mini van.
Anyhow. I'M NOT trying to knock these Fire Departments but one does have to question so many on the scene for one fire? Oh well, I'm sure I'll get knocked for saying so but Hebron coming all that way for a house fire seemed to be an extreme, including Salisbury.
All that being said, the idea of building a $10,000,000.00 Fire Station on the West side of Salisbury still begs the question, will ANYTHING ever be good enough or will they still travel from all over the place just to put out fires because these guys are bored?
Bring it on, blast away.

A Commenter Provides The Following Information
Hmmmm, this sounds familiar!! Why can't we get this type of investigation here? I believe SLED is an outside state agency in that area and an investigation should be held by outside sources. The city shouldn't investigate itself and the only reason that would be done would be to cover their own tracks!!

AIKEN CTY --- A husband and wife lost their jobs with Aiken County EMS in October. Now, a state investigation report explains what went wrong.
Missing money, using sticky notes for filing documents-- all leading to what Aiken County EMS workers say is an unorganized and struggling department.
The Aiken County EMS Investigation is closed, but there are still unsolved questions. News 12 has a copy of the SLED investigation into the EMS Director and his wife.
"Money should be going to where it needs to be going," says Annette Distasio who lives in Aiken.
SLED found this, the donation account, which is handled only in cash- has more than 1,250 dollars taken in from undocumented sources. Instead of being used for the department, some of the donation account money used to buy food and gifts for EMS employees.
Some questioning if they should donate at all.
But the review did not show the Director Phil Clarke took the money himself. SLED also finding this - in the county issued credit card account: purchases like food, gift bags and picture frames. Which could be considered personal. And more importantly, not allowed by the county.
But again, no criminal misuse for specific personal use of the cards. The report goes on. Other EMS employees interviewed by SLED saying, sticky notes were used to keep track of the donation account.
"Oh yeah, that's not good. First of all, you can lose them because we all do that. And secondly, it needs to be written documentation," says Annette.
Some are keeping the faith, but others say they don't trust them anymore.
There were also problems with mileage reimbursements. Lynn Clarke reporting more than 250 miles than she actually drove on two different occasions.

It may be sent to the indivual stations, but the city controls what it can be spent on. there is very little discretion allowed on what can be bought without Sees and Gordys approval. if this is not the case, why do you think the original pickup truck had to be returned. See threatened to bulldoze station 2 to the ground if it was not returned.

Thank you Anonymous 8:39 AM that is exactly what happened and what is going on in the Salisbury Fire Department and the volunteers are powerless. The vollies may get to vote on decisions on the floor, but that is all it is, just a vote. They have no power or at all. That was taken away from them when William Gordy, oops I mean David See became chief. Check out the city charter. The Mare and her Flying Monkeys allowed the Three Stooges to have all the power taken away from the volunteer corporations. Does anyone remember how Bill Gordy came into the Salisbury Fire Department and sucked in some unsuspecting volunteers to help him get to where he is today. Typical backstabber and the same thing that caused his demise in the Delmar Fire Department. Does anyone remember when Bill Gordy and a few select paid fire officers went to the volunteers homes and places of employment with threatening documents? Isn't it true the Bill Gordy and some paid fire officers went to Delegate Norman Conway's wive's place of employment to deliver the documents. Wasn't her place of employment the County BOE? That my friend is terroristic and tresspassing on school property. One of those paid officers sucked up to Gordy, See and Hoppes that he is now a chief officer himself. Amazing what people will do to get ahead in life.
In case you don't know Bill Gordy and David See appoint the volunteer officers instead of allowing elections like the rest of the County vollies do. This way they can control their yes men. So much for a democracy in this city.

Congratulations Station 7
It was exactly one year ago today Station 7 swung their doors in Pittsville. Look, if you haven't been there, it's well worth the trip.
Originally they were closed on Sundays but now they're not only open on Sundays, they're now serving breakfast too! That's right, after the 1st of the year they'll be open at 8:00 AM on Saturday & Sunday for breakfast.
A new outdoor dining area has been established and the decor continues to evolve over time. If you haven't been there yet, give it a shot. Congratulations Todd & Carroll Wampler.
