What Are The Odds?

Folks, I know this will give the anti-Albero bloggers a wet dream to go after me, but I can't let this slide without a post. Out of all the participants in the Salisbury Jaycees Christmas Parade (what, about 100?), guess how many did NOT make the PAC14 tape?

Two. Want to guess who they were? Yep, yours truly and Cat Country, owned by Delmarva Broadcasting. The Jaycees rep I talked to was more upset than I was, really nice, very apologetic. I talked to Mike Goodson, head of PAC14, and he swears up and down it was a technical glitch.

Okay. I don't want to bust on Mike too bad here. The PAC14 guys really do the community a service. But they're supposed to be impartial, politically speaking, right? Just how coincidental is it that the only TWO entries in the parade glitched out of the tape just HAPPENED to be the Mayor's #1 target, Joe Albero and my blog, and the other is a radio station owned by the company that told her to take a hike when she tried to get Bill Reddish fired?

And get this, the technical glitch only affected one of Delmarva Broadcasting's entries, and not the other, though they were one right after the other? Now I know glitches can only be for a second or can pop back on in a heartbeat, but come on, what are the odds on this, folks? Could be they had to keep the other station on the tape to make Delmarva Broadcasting and me not seem targeted?

I'll get over it because the live reception from people watching the parade was FANTASTIC. But to me, the bigger question is, was this really just an AMAZING act of coincidence after I posted that I'd get a great welcome at the parade and the tape would prove it to the anti-Albero bloggers? I damn near posted, "You watch, I'll get edited out by PAC14." But I thought that would sound too smart-ass, even for me.

Or is the question, did the Mayor, who disgraced Salisbury by screaming at a Jaycees volunteer for better position in the parade, go over the top ONCE AGAIN and threaten PAC14's funding if SBYNEWS.COM didn't get yanked?

What did she say? "I'll get you Albero and your little Cat Country, too"???

Hey, I'm only guessing here, so you be your own judge. If it were just about me, I'd just post about this for a laugh. But the "technical difficulties" may just be of a more serious nature than old Joe and the Cat getting left out in the cold.

  1. By the way Folks. If you or anyone you know has a tape of me going through and being announced by the Jaycees, we'd love to have a copy?

  2. Joe:

How about a tape of Barrie's outrageous conduct -- and if none is available, please interview the parade people that she spoke with and do an accident "reconstruction".

  3. It hasn't aired yet. I don't believe

  4. I would have taken that bet Joe. No way you are going to get any further free press from anyone unless of course it is concerning the law suits the mayor and chiefy have filed against you.

I hope someone furnishes you with a copy of the mayor raising hell with the Jaycees.

  6. Barrie Tilghman is a disgrace to Salisbury. It's actions like this that will forever be tattooed as her legacy. The city should stop funding PAC14.

Disagree on funding PAC-14, which gives us a chance to see Barrie and her flying monkeys perform.

  11. What an act of vindictiveness!! Does this mayor really have that much control of most everything that is and was good in this town. Boy, election time can't come fast enough for me. This woman has to go!

  12. Things happen......people arent perfect..

Joe and his blog will be recognized at the end of the broadcast...if someone didnt want Joe to be in there...that would not be allowed either..

Lets move forward and get ready for a wonderful holiday season.

    Merry Christmas

  13. I really couldn't tell you if it was a honest glitch or something more sinister but it is pretty fishy sounding.

There were a lot of Jaycees that were yelled at that day... by the mayor and by Louweasal. I watched the whole sad affair. Looking back it wouldn’t surprise me if she was drunk like suggested in other posts. She told the Jaycees at one point that it was not their parade and it only happens because she lets it happen.

Can we have an election now?

I’m sure the Jaycees are tired of working so hard and getting such little respect from the city. I happen to know that the relationship with the county is completely different. I firmly believe that they could have pulled off fireworks if the city was a partner instead of a foe.

John Cannon is a former president of the Jaycees... I know he gets the effort that those guys put in to these things. I hope they move it next year.

  14. Every event sponsored by a civic group should be moved out of city limits. Let Barrie be queen of the ghetto she has built. Louweasel and the other flying monkeys can continue to be her little flunkies, someone has to do it.

  15. Louweasel got involved in that fracas, too?????

    Miss Code of Conduct????

    That rots.

  17. Our local Jaycees went out of business. I didn't even know that was possible.

  18. Thank you FARk for once again showing the world what a weird little backwater the Eastern Shore is. Schaefer was fairly accurate...

  19. Who wants to see a crappy pickup truck with a sign on it in a parade anyway?
