You could offer $10 million cash and Barrie wouldn't let you have the dust off the floors. Nothing like cutting the nose off the taxpayers to spite her face
Yes, unfortunately for the Fire Dept., the witch surely won't go for your offer. She does not care about putting all kinds of costs and problems on the backs of the taxpayer. Nice try though, again.
I would have an All-You-Can-Eat Seafood Restaurant on the main level. I would have the kitchen in the lower level and a Bar upstairs on the top floor.
The decor would all be Fire Department related, similar to Station 7 in Pittsville.
Oh, for those who want to come back and say, what about parking. There's a parking garage right next door and another parking lot across the street. So please don't come back saying there's not enough parking.
Sounds like a great idea. Downtown needs something like you have proposed unfortunatley, the Mayor will give it to or sell it for half that so someone could set up some artsy fartsy gallery that wont draw any patrons or tax dollards back to the heart of the city where it should be. Soon enough she will be gone and the citizens will have their will spoken through a mayor who listens to the people.
Anon 1:20 p.m. -- Just watch out for other puppets in the running for the next Mayoral election. The Puppet Masters who put her in power will be running a couple obvious candidates to replace her, plus, likely, another Trojan Horse since Louise Smith was so successful in the last election. Make sure you know who you're voting for and who they're connected to.
A restaurant is exactly what the downtown needs. I am so tired of hearing about downton revitalization. Salisbury's downtown is a joke. We don't need anymore ladies clothing stores, jewelry stores or hair salons. We need music stores, restaurants, bookstores. Fun things. Things that people that are under the age of 65 want to go to. The worst possible scenario is that beautiful building turning into an arts center. It would be a complete waste.
Does anyone remember what a disaster Berlin used to be? Why not use the same formula here, I seem to remember that the Globe used to have live entertainment, a restaurant, retail and art gallery in one, maybe something along those lines would spur the rebirth of downtown. That and CLOSING it off to vehicle traffic permanently.
We can't get fooled again --or we are totally sunk. Better really research candidates next time, full back ground checks if necessary!!
As much as I despise the smear tactics practiced by Barrie Tilghman and her cohorts, I have to agree. Full background checks on anyone opposing a known leader that is truly for the people of this city. I also think anything found in these background checks should be widely publicized and not hidden, like the Daily Times tends to do with information that is not quite pleasant when it comes to their pals in the GOB. Example: Gary Comegys failure to pay child support. If he doesn't take care of his own responsibilities we all know from the past he will not take care of teh responsibilities of the city. Gary Comegys will not become the next mayor of Salisbury. Not unless SAPOA can find another way of committing voter fraud. Keep an eye on those Holloway Hall addresses.
These and many more are the reasons people need to volunteer to help the cause.
We had water fights in the summer to snowball fights in the winter.Dumping glitter in one's bunk bed waking up and they are all sparkly.Wow the memories!!It will be missed.

Hey, since planning and zoning will allowed a hundred seat restaurant with only 14 parking spaces so I don't see a parking problem... DO YOU??

ReplyDeleteI hope we can carry on the tradition in the new firehouse vollie and career.
ReplyDeleteThis building lasted a long, long time. Ho wlong will the new wold last?
ReplyDeleteWill it sink in the ground like the first McDonalds?
Will it fall apart like the Station 1 did?
Looking from the outside, it looks like a 10 million dollar price tag on a $300,000 dollar shed.
The Firehouse Seafood Bar, what could be better. But why didn't you bid with the rest of them when it was open, Joe. Is your offer real or what?
