And They Wonder Why They're Called The Tilghman Times?

Now who do all of YOU think is behind these three articles in today's Daily Times? IT'S MY PARADE!

One article was obviously about me in the Parade. So you know, I did NOT get a set of rules from anyone referencing the Parade, nor was I instructed of any minimal requirements. However, my vehicle was mildly decorated and I wore a Santa Hat too! I'll make sure next year that we DO IT UP for the Parade, I promise.

As for the Fire Department Donations, this was posted in the Delmarva Section, one page after the other. My suggestion to the Citizens of Salisbury. Throw out those donation envelopes until the Mayor appoints someone to mediate the Hostile Work Environment. We at least know we're reaching the majority of the population in the City of Salisbury. If they have a computer now, they're probably visiting SBYNEWS.COM.

Boy, this sure has been a BIG Fire Department day, hasn't it?

  1. it is amazing the paid staff believes the salisbury volunteers are worthless till it is time to ask for donations then it becomes the salisbury volunteer fire dept

  2. Hold up a sec, don't even go there. The paid staff has never refered to the SFD as "volunteer". or that the vols. are worthless. The paid staff is just that, paid to do a job. The volunteers are lucky that they just don't have to do as much as the other volunteer departments in the county because the paid people pretty much take care of everything.

  3. Actually, I wrote the piece in the Grapevine. I am the same person who wrote to you via email a couple of days ago about the guns in school. I do not live in Salisbury's city limits, nor is my business located within the limits, nor do I give a flying f--- about the mayor or fire department in Salisbury. I live near Allen and am pleased with the service I receive from them.

Yes, the piece you copied from the paper was in reference to you, as well as all the other cars, trucks, etc. with self-promoting individuals whose only purpose was to advertise their businesses and/or agendas.

If the piece written sits a little too close to home, for you as well as others, so be it. Maybe everyone will make more of an effort next year.

  4. The career members know the value of the volunteers and respect their contributions. Salisbury Volunteer Dept. is used because the the money comes into the original corporation ata HQ and is divided among the three stations. The City will have nothing to do with these contributions. The trustees of the three stations meet and decide where the monies should be spent for the coming year in their budgets. This is just like any business. Dont try to start a fire or I'll be the sprinkler. Thank you.

The career members don't give a damn about the volunteers, as a matter of fact they can't stand the volunteers and David See and Bill Gordy did everything they could do to steal all the funding from the volunteers. They had the Mare and the Flying Monkeys pass legislations to do just that. They took all power, funding and authority from a department that was primarily a volunteer fire department supplimented by paid a compliment of paid staffing.

  7. Barrie even tried to take their fire house on Brown St until she found out the city didn't own it ahahahaha that was hilarious. It was great seeing the firefighters put it to that old biotch.

  8. The Station 16 volunteers had their Members Christmas party this evening and there were four carrer firefighters in attendance. They had a great time and got along fine. Sorry to ruin your claims with facts. We get along fine.

Hey Grammar Boy, if you all get along fine then why were the rest of the "career" firefighters there? I have been told that it was a membership function just for the volunteers as you mentioned? Isn't there already a Christmas Party at Station 16 scheduled? Why are there separate Christmas Parties? Who is footing these bills?? Enquiring Taxpayers want to know??

  10. Most of the career members of the fire department came from volunteer ranks. Not many of us have forgot our roots.
I had to work or I would of attended the Volunteer Party also. The Christmas Party at Station 16 is the family Christmas Party Career can attend also and have done in the past.
Quit trying to stir crap up. Right or Wrong none of the BS on here or the watch desk is doing anything to fix a problem. That is what we should be working towards.

  11. Teacherlady. By losing your donation, what would you say the SFD is losing per year? HMMM?

Many of the career firemen came from the voluteer ranks, but you are wrong. I know the volunteers and they know the paid guys treat them like crap and always complain about them.

Most of the career firemen should be coming from the volunteer ranks in the Salisbury Fire Department, but they keep hiring people out of town.

What do you expect when the top three don't even live in the city. Both See and Gordo come from Delmar.

You never answered the question yet. Who is footing these bills for the so called Christmas Parties. Answer the question and quit whining about someone stirring bull shit. We the taxpayers just want the facts.

Mr. Career man you are forgetting one thing. We the tax payers pay your salary so don't pull this shit on us. You ought to be extremely grateful we pay taxes to allow you to work for the city.

  14. Talk to the volunteers about who foots the bill. I am not the treasurer that signs the checks. And you should be extremely grateful that there are volunteers from the city that want to work for the city on the career side.

  15. Why do I get the distinct feeling that many comments on the posts regarding Fire Departments are not made by fire fighters, career or vollies?

You don't know me or where I am from. I have a vested interest in Salisbury. For all you need know, I could be wealthy enough to donate the money for a new firetruck. Would that hurt you next year?

If I'm not wealthy enough to do that, roll this up in a joint and smoke it--figure Joe averages 50,000 hits a day. Also assume that each of those 50,000 are people who live in Salisbury, and none of those hits are "repeat visitors" in a day. Also, assume each of those people would donate $100.00. Let's also assume that the visitors have kept up with Joe's blog and any new people have read just a fraction of the archives. NOW, if all 50,000 people decide not to donate because they believe even a fraction of what Joe is saying, how much is the fire department going to be hurt? My math tells me $5,000,000. Most people would save their money and put it towards a sprinkler system for their home, and end up saving money on their homeowners insurance.

Now, I know an assumption makes an ass out of you and me, but it is something worth thinking about before you get smartmouthed and start biting the hand that feeds you. If you were only half as smart as you think you are.
