Gilchrest claims on his website that he does not accept PAC contributions, but now that he faces a serious primary challenge, he is soliciting them. This proves once again that Wayne has Changed!!!
See some of Wayne's Quotes and articles written about him not accepting PAC money below:
"I know special interest groups don't like me very much and are helping to fund my opponent's campaign. That's because I don't take PAC money and my vote can't be bought. I only accept contributions from people who can vote for me, and I wish every member of Congress subscribed to that." (Salisbury Daily Times, letter-to-the-editor, p. 6; 8/25/02)
The majority of invitations come from Political Action Committees. Gilchrest is one of about 10 congressmen who do not take money from these committees. (...) He also does not accept money from outside his d istrict, including from out-of-district relatives. "It's a huge commitment that is required if you want to accept PAC money," Gilchrest said. "It gives me a lot more time (to spend) on legislation." (Caroline County Times Record, pg. 5; 2/10/00)
(Democrat) Gies has very little money to try to defeat Gilchrest (...). The result is Gilchrest is in such a secure position he has been able to take a position virtually unheard of in modern politics. He is not taking any contributions from political action committees or from anybody who lives outside the 1st District. (Salisbury Daily Times, p. 4; 10/26/94)
Citing as his theme a "return to honesty and integrity in government service," Gilchrest expressed confidence that enough Democrats would cross over to elect him. (Star Democrat, pg. 1; 10/12/88)
Gilchrest said, however, he believes PAC contributions should be prohibited because they "unduly influence" politicians. (Salisbury Daily Times , p. 3; 10/17/88)

Wayne has Changed!
There is nothing wrong with candidates accepting PAC money from groups they agree with; however to tell the voters you won't accept them while quietly soliciting money from them is just plain wrong. The voters deserve better.
Geez - What a hypocrit. Telling those of us in the district while going to do DC and doing another. We need a new congressman.
