A student being transferred from Delmar to Wi Hi was sent home today and his locker was inspected because allegedly there was rumor going around the School the he was going to pull another Virginia Tech.
I'm told Students may have blown things out of proportion but then again, the Student was allegedly sent home?
For those of you who might choose to attack this Post, this information was being sent from a Student live at Wi Hi. I happen to think it's news worthy so all parents can get involved and get to the bottom of it for the sake of their own children.
Good Job Albero. This is good work...and the kind of stuff you should be posting.
ReplyDeleteOMG-love the photo clip-Super Troopers is one of my favorite movies-
ReplyDeleteAnyway,we are going to see more and more of this type of thing in schools until we start to take threats more seriously and be more proactive in identifying kids in crisis.Suicide is like one last big "f*ck you" and when they take people with them, its even more tragic. If theis kid had pyschological issues he probably should have been in an alternative school.Unfortunately, public schools have to accept everyone.
anonymous on, then off, then on then off, , now comment moderation... ha ha ha ha ha--- Didnt you give others a bunch of shit over doing the same.
ReplyDeleteYour a worthless two faced wanna be reporter! Why dont you do a post on why you turned off then on and now moderate. Or is it because we all know what a fucking BIPOLAR wanna be fire/policeman you wish you were. Years ago -- you could not pass the psyclogical exam to get in! BOO FUCKING HOO!
By the way nice 911 call on MAMA the other night. Good thing it wasn't you. The call probably would have been lost. YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU DESERVE SOONER OR LATER. I CAN'T WAIT TO TAKE A PISS ON YOUR DADS TREE!
Someone let Dougie out again.
ReplyDeleteI know it would be expensive and I have no idea where the money would come from, but I think putting metal detectors in the entrances of the schools could help this problem with our schools and maybe put some of the children at ease. I can't imagine having to go to school and worry if I am going to get killed today.
ReplyDeleteThats scary! Glad I come here...my son goes to WiHi! Wonder if we will have to rely on our kids for this one or if a note will get sent home, or even if its on the news it would be a help! Thanks for the info...even if you find out its not true...that is something worth reporting before all the facts come in...just in case. Thanks Joe

Wow...somebody forgot to take their meds today.
ReplyDeleteThis is a comment thread regarding the possibility of a highly troubled teen in the public school and then there is this despicable vulgar comment above.
ReplyDeleteIf there is a troubled person hating mankind, it's not only in a public school; it's in the blogosphere. Not much difference in the personalities. The only difference is one event might be alleged.
I sign my name.

A Delmar student allegedly said the same thing last Thursday. My boys said he was sent to a juvenile center. Perhaps the same student has been released to his parents and is now being transferred to Wi-HI? If this is fact, this kid has issues. Or one or both could be rumors. My boys gave me the kids name but I did not confirm with officials. There was a Delmar Police officer at the school Friday am, as well as the officer on staff...so it indicated a problem.
ReplyDeleteThere was also in icident at Pittsville school, where a new transfer student from Baltimore who had documented behavior problems threatened some girls. Heard she got suspended, but dont know the whole story as I have never seen anything in the papers or here. Joe, I believe the Sherrifs office was involded. Did you hear anything about this?
ReplyDeleteinside info has it and his name, B.P he was expelled from Delmar HS last Thursday, "He stood up in class and told a student in the class he was going to kill him" and kill anyone who got in his way. He had a hit list with many students names on it. Nothing was told to the parents of the students, because the school didnt want to get a bad rep. cause Delamr being such a highly reputable school.
ReplyDeleteso with all this said and done, lets send him here to wicomico, schools so he can come here and create havic.
Just read a note that was sent home with my son today. It says there is no bases to this found as of yet, its still be investigated but so far sounds like a vicious rumor.

#1. The child was sent home.
ReplyDelete#2. His locker was searched.
#3. I doubt very seriously the School is on the Blogs during the day to be aware of it being exposed.
#4. No one was hurt.
ALL of which are a great end result. I'm glad to see Wi Hi did more than Delmar did AND Pittsville. Hat tip to Wi Hi!
I am glad you said something on here. My son also got a text message stating a kid from delmar was being transferred to wihi and was going to make it another Virginia Tech, which was stated earlier. Pretty scary that kids think of these things. Hats off to wihi admin for getting that note sent home though! Whether it was a "vicious rumor started by the kids" or the truth its nice to know whats going on! Again thanks Joe for the posting!

Just so you know, Pittsville School did not take the situation that occured at their school lightly. The police, the student's parents and the school officials met and took necessary actions. In addition, each student was given a letter to take home to their parents, if the teacher's distributed them, regarding the event. Please remember when schools distribute letters they depend on the kids to give them to the parents, not all parents review their children's daily work or even care enough to ask how their day at school went. Please don't rush to criticize until you know more about the subject, this is why there is so much hate in the world.

ReplyDeleteDelmar expelled the student. From what you wrote that Wi Hi did, it seems to me that Delmar did more. Am I missing something by chance?
My son just told me the student was indeed sent to a "juvenile house" and expelled from Delmar. My son also said he was aware that the student was transferring to Wi-Hi, which of course, a Delmar, MD student can do with no problem. It looks like wherever he was sent released him to his parents. I would agree that Delmar did more for the safety of the students if all Wi-Hi did was send the kid home.

<<< I did get the letter but was not informative. As a parent I should have asked more questions and do plan to soon. And Joe... it was two parents who called and turned in the info on the girl in Pittsville and she was suspended the next day. How can you say nothing was done?
I just wish MORE info was told to us parents instead of a letter that really did not state the true happinings.
btw...trying to decypher some of word verifications are getting tough... some letters just seem to run right into the others!!
It seemed that Wi Hi was taking this not so seriously. When my wife picked our son up the ladies in the office were giggling and tee heeing about it like it was a joke. Sorry if the school doesnt take the "rumor" seriously we do. When it comes to my children Id rather err on the side of caution.

Karen...
ReplyDeleteWhat Delmar did was probably the correct thing to do in their situation. But as I said in previous posts, it was a rumor. The kid was sent home on suspicion. They cant expell a kid on suspicion! For the time being WiHi did the right thing!
TWC
Sometimes there is truth to rumor. Whatever was said, I can tell you that police activity was noticable last Friday. There was also a Delmar police officer who was cruising back and forth in front of the school today. I caanot say for certainty this had anything to do with the student in question, but with all the congestion there in the morning, police officers are a rare sight there in the morning. Perhaps if people take rumors more seriously, events like Columbine and Va Tech could be prevented. That is my opinion only.
ReplyDeleteActually Karen, that's how it's prevented.
ReplyDeleteHuh?
ReplyDeleteI'm a Delmar alum, and I actually know the student in question here.
ReplyDeleteI rode the bus home with him everyday.
Here's what happened:
He was in class, and someone punched him in the face. He got upset and said, "Just wait until Friday, it'll be another VT."
He didn't go to school on Friday. He didn't have a hit list. He understands what he did was wrong.
He was going to transfer to Wi Hi, but for his own protection he'll probably be homeschooled.
He's actually a very nice boy. He made a HUGE mistake, and he'll never be able to take that back.
But please, don't spread rumors. He'll be living with this for the rest of his life, and parents, you don't have to worry for the safety of your children.
He won't do anything to them. He's learned his lesson.
I just posted a comment about what really happened. I'd also like to clarify:
ReplyDeleteHe made the threat in Delmar High School. Not WiHi at all.
He wasn't expelled from Delmar, he was given an out of school suspension.
His parents pulled him out of Delmar for his own protection.
I'm sure the schools didn't publicize it for many reasons.
One being that parents would start freaking out, starting nasty rumors, and try and hurt the student or his parents.
I'm not defending what he said, but there are a lot of rumors flying around, and I'd just like to remind everyone that you should take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Even if it's on the news.
(Or in my comment--how do you know who I am, or that my information is credible? All I can tell you is that I talked to the student tonight and parents have nothing to worry about. He's deeply sorry.)
