Grand Jury


While Chief See stood in front of a Grand Jury he was asked, What are you doing to balance the racial situation within the Salisbury Fire Department? Are you prepared to hire more Blacks?

Chief See replied, (photo above) Huh, Whut, Uh, Uh, I ain't gonna do it. They can go to San Domingo and get a job there.

Of course this post is a joke and there never was a Grand Jury.

However, I want EVERY single reader here to know, of the hundreds of people involved in the Salisbury Fire Department, there is only ONE Black paid professional Fire Fighter and that is Mr. Cropper. Mr. Cropper has been turned down twice now for a promotion and I strongly recommend this man hire an attorney and flat out sue the living sh*t out of the City of Salisbury.

See & Gordy have made it extremely clear that they are NOT going to advance Blacks within the Fire Department, even though they desperately need more Staff for the West Side.

    Are you serious? This can't be true! No responsible Mayor, carried into office on the backs of the black community, would put up with such a huge racial disparity in the composition of a municipal workforce.

  2. Oh, I'M SERIOUS all right! There is only ONE Black paid Fire Fighter on the Salisbury Fire Department. This Mayor couldn't care less. You know why? Because the Citizens couldn't care less either. I say that because no one other than the Dirty Dozen, (or more) are out there making a positive difference.

    Just look at the a$$hole remarks made by the Fire Staff commenting left and right. They hate Blacks and the mere fact that they refuse to hire them and RESPECT them in any way, shape or form is a clear sign your LEADERSHIP is full of bigots! The proof is in te NUMBERS, period!

    The FD has requirements, including already being a firefighter and EMT. It's not like other places where anyone can apply off the street and get trained in an academy.
    To work for the FD you have to get the training, then apply, and then pass the test.
    As for the whole pass over of certain individuals, Joe, do you know the scores to the promotional test? Were you on the board? And again, WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ANYTHING REGARDING THE FD.

    Your EXCUSES are piss poor and to ACT like it is all their fault because they don't apply, would you apply to cut hair in an all Black Barber Shop? The Salisbury Fire Department is just that, an all white Barber Shop and you MUST tip your hat to Mr. Cropper for putting up with so many LOSERS within that Fire Department.

    No one else seems to have the balls enough to stand up to simple minded bigots like yourself and this administration but that's OK, my statements are far less than Mr. Cropper showing up for work each and every day.

    The Daily Times should be ALL OVER this story but you won't see anything printed there about it because they're pussies too afraid of lawsuits. WTF are they even in business for anyway?

    Out of curiosity, what are the specific requirements for becoming a City Of Salisbury firefighter?

    So... to be hired as a Salisbury firefighter... you already have to *be* a firefighter? What?

    Hmmm... always wondered why the Salisbury Dept was so lily white when the surrouding areas were very mixed. Puzzle pieces starting to come together on why this is so.

    I don't agree with you all that often Joe, but I'll give it to you this time.

    You're right - for once you've exposed a hell of a story. I'm stunned the Times is not all over this. This is the kind of stuff that wins reporting prizes for journalists. Any hungry investigative reporter should be scrambling after this. How lazy can they be?

    Look at the county volunteer departments. How many blacks do you see in there. Parsonsburg has one, Delmar has none, hebron and mardela has one each i think. They dont want to apply. Why should it be our fault that they are lazy? We can not force them to apply. Why should color matter? If anyone has the skills then hire them no matter what the color.

    THEY DONT WANT TO WORK. ITS TO EASY TO LIVE OF THE STATE AND HAVE LOUD MUSIC COMING FROM THEIR CARS

After reading his posts, I can only conclude that all white people must be stupid. Or, just maybe, your skin color matters less than your heart and your brain. The heroes of 9/11 were not all white, you moron. Take your uneducated, narrow-minded, slimy, weaseley, lily-livered, ignorant, and might I add, dumba$$ self down to the library, and ask someone if they will read a book to you. You need it.

    Maybe we are stupid for Waking up to help someone at 0300 when we have to be to work at 0600. Maybe we are stupid for cooking all day to sit down with our families to a nice dinner to have it ruined by a pager going off for a subject with toe pain. I am willing to let anyone who applies with the proper training come out so I can spend more time with my family. Don't care what color you are.

  13. HONESTLY, I AM A FIRE FIGHTER AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO ADMIT I'M FROM SALISBURY HOWEVER I AM VERY PROUD TO BE. I DON'T CARE WHAT COLOR ANYONE IS I COULD CARE LESS. WHEN WE ARE IN A FIRE TOGETHER, WHITE BLUE BLACK PURPLE YELLOW EITHER WAY I'LL RISK MY LIFE FOR THEM AS THEY WOULD DO FOR ME. COLOR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS JOE. WE ALL NEED TO GET A LITTLE MORE OF THE LORD IN OUR LIVES AND STOP THIS NON SENSE, IT JUST BLINDS THE EYES OF HOW CHRISTIANS SHOULD ACT TO ONE ANOTHER, PUPLISHING IMMATURE POST LIKE THIS JUST SHOWS HOW PEOPLE REALLY CARE LESS OF THROWING PUNCHES AT ONE ANOTHER BECAUSE OF THEIR SKIN COLOR. SALISBURY JUST TESTED AND THERE WERE AROUND 3O APPLICANTS WHICH 2 WERE AFRICAN AMERICAN AND ONE OF THEM PASSED. IF ONE AFRICAN AMERICAN GETS HIRED AND 3 WHITES DO, ITS NOT A RACIST THING. LETS ALL GET OVER OURSELVES AND JUST TAKE CARE OF EACHOTHER LIKE GOD WANTS IT TO BE. STAY SAFE AND KEEP LOOKEN OUT FOR EACHOTHER. THANKS

  14. Ok Joe I've stood back long enough on this. Your "mole" needs to give you the whole story when they tell you anything. First off, the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland has a low black to white ratio in the fire service. As it was already stated the City of Salisbury requires you to have Firefighter I, EMT-B & Haz-mat Op's, before you are even eligible for employment (bigger cities/ counties will put you through an academy with no prior experience). So that limits the number of African Americans eligible for any fire department job on the eastern shore to a very few. With the amount of people who are trying to crossover to the paid division, the competition is fierce. Before you accuse the administration of selecting employees based on race, why don't you find out how many people apply that aren't white. It's like you accusing Washington Capitals of discrimination for passing up a black man to play hockey. The league is a majority white, but if he can't play he's not going to be an effective member of the team and that doesn't make it racist if he is passed over.

    I don't remeber the exact list and points value, but the whole process is graded on points. Your credentials, interviews, physical ability testing, written test scores & seniority all have a range of points available. The only one area that's open to interpretation is the oral interviews and those were conducted by a third party panel, compiled of very qualified men/women. So your racial discrimination B.S. can stop.

    I sincerely hope you are not affiliated with any fire department. Not everyone is cut out to do what we do, you nor I are entitled to look down on anyone who doesn't CHOOSE to serve. If your an EMT you know that you are required to act objectively. You stereotyping "blacks" as lazy because they are a minority among the fire service would really have to make me question your character. If you'll write someone off as lazy because of their skin color how will you react when you encounter the drug addict who's overdosed for the third time this month and for the third time your called out to save their life? Let me remind you there are both whites and blacks being lazy, abusing welfare, abusing drugs and having babies as a source of income. People like you do nothing but add to the problem.

    Lorenzo is in Bermuda with his WHITE wife and her WHITE Family on a cruise. Lorenzo is the proud step-father of a racially mixed child. Color is nothing to Lorenzo and it is nothing to the admin. of the SFD.
    We sent out over 6,000 letters to EVERY paramedic in MD, DE, and VA. We received less than 10 applications from that mass mailing. It was not selective, WE ALL GOT THEM!
    Larry is feeding you this bullshit about race, but I want you to ask Lorenzo when he gets back on Saturday if he agrees with what your posting. And I know he will disagree. Lorenzo is as fair and honest a man as you will ever find. He doesn't need excuses or won't complain that he wasn't promoted. Don't make your posts seem like Lorenzo is giving you the information. You are giving this man a black eye and making it seems as if he is bitching behind the scenes when in fact the one who is giving you the info. is your ex-councilman buddy. We all know and he has ZERO respect in the local fire/ems community because of it. Exact phrases that he says at the station are repeated in your blog.

    Again Lorenzo is not even in this country and hasn't been since Saturday October 6th. He will be floored when he reads this. Thanks for being an ASS!

  20. Hey Jackass. Before you go slinging racism accusations why dont you look at the department as a whole instead of the individual. Cropper is not the only person who has been passed up for promotions. The most recent round of promotions actually saw a FF get promoted above senior officers. Many of those officers passed held vital roles in the department and were passed up because of "test scores". Just because Mr. Cropper is African American does not mean that was why he was passed up. You are so concerned with the "racism" running rampant in the department yet you make blind accusations only knowing part of the story heating up outsiders who have no clue what is going on inside the department. There are some fucked up issues with the department, as with any organization, however racism doesnt appear to be one of them. I know plenty of fire fighters who would take a bullet for Lorenzo, not in the head of course, and of a small caliber, but all the same.
