What's Wrong With This Picture?

Please click on the picture to enlarge for a better view.
Look, I don't want people going off on me thinking I'm on the attack against handicapped people, because I'm not.

However, a brand new $70,000.00 Duly Truck with Handicapped Tags? Do you think this guy just can't fit into a normal parking spot and needs the open space of a closer and wider place to park their vehicle?

I can see a wheelchair lift vehicle. I can see a seriously injured person needing the use of such a tag but a Duly tells a whole different story.

Sorry folks but this is abusing the system. Why do I get the feeling this post will be like Jay Lenno making a crack about cats and getting a million letters stating he's such a bad person? Let's see how this one turns out?

Available Cats

In order, meet Sammy who's 10 months old and looking for a nice family for adoption. I've been told Sammy has been there quite a while, so please consider this one soon.

Next, meet Gabby. She too is 10 months old and is spayed. The next cat is Bee Bop who is also spayed and 2 years old. Tony is neutered and is also 2 years old. Then of course there's the kittens. Folks, these guys are just adorable!

The most important message the Humane Society wants to get through is, If your pet is missing, CALL THE HUMANE SOCIETY! All too often animals are picked up and why people don't think of calling the Humane Society is beyond me but it happens each and every day, up to 30 times a day, believe it or not. One woman came in asking if she could put up a flyer in their building and when of the Staff saw the picture on the flyer they immediately recognized the animals and lead the owner right to it. It was picked up days earlier and they woman never called!

A Humane Society In A Very Inhumane Society

After my post this morning mentioning the Humane Society I thought and felt I could really make a difference by using this Blog Site to do some real good in Wicomico County.

So I took the ride from Delmar out to the Humane Society and met with Linda, Mike and the rest of the fantastic group of very special human beings working there and found out the following.

My numbers weren't far off at all when it comes to the amount of animals having to be euthanized this summer. The biggest volume has come from Cats. It turns out that during the summer months adoptions go way down yet rescues go way up. The controls how many animals they can keep or not and right now they are so loaded with animals they are truly desperate for good families to just come in a take a look around. I have to tell you all, it was so hard walking out of there without bringing one home, but it's possible.

I'm asking you to please go take a visit there. Bring them a load of newspapers or some got and cat food, they need it. The County provides a great chunk of money to support their efforts but it's nowhere near enough money and they need donations desperately, especially this time of year. There's a link above to their web site and there's also a number to call.

I am posting a few photos of some of the animals they have there right now and trust me, please, there wasn't a single one in the entire place I wouldn't adopt! Jennifer and I have 14 dogs, 3 cats and 2 horses, we're loaded up with animals and I think those numbers will tell you how much we give back.

1) Proof that there is good use for the Daily Times after all.

2) The second photo above is Mariah. She's in kennel C-3 and she's a white huskey mix. Her eyes will make you melt!

3) Kennel C-1 is a 9 year old shepherd named Salina. Now folks, she's 9 years old. Someone can give this old gal some lovin, can't you?

4) Kennel D-5 is one of the most adorable lab mixes I've ever seen. She's a 5 month old female and she is just a baby.

5) My brother used to have two dogs exactly like this female lab mix and they were just the coolest dogs ever! She needs a home folks!

My next post will show photos of cats. I am going to dedicate one day a week for the Humane Society in the hopes that some of you will open your homes and hearts for these little fellas. You've read the stories about Jennifer and I traveling half way across the Country to purchase foals and rescue them. This required a $40,000.00 truck, a $5,000.00 trailer and $150.00 a day in Mares Milk Formula alone every day. It was the best money I have ever spent and I'll never look back! If you'd like that same feeling, go to their web site, call them or simply drop in any by all means, PLEASE send me a picture showing you have adopted or volunteered your time and we'll make sure it's posted. I mean this folks, thanks!

Let's Set The Record Straight

In today's Daily Times everyone's name was mentioned referencing the "City pulls proposal to limit animals" with exception of the one person who started the entire proposal and that would be Barrie Tilghman.

It was Barrie Tilghman who vindictively went after "one" family and she "used" Chief Webster to lead the way in changing what everyone thought would create a new law. However, the law of only having 5 animals in one household has always been on the books in Salisbury. So what kind of reporting was the Daily Times actually offering?

The Times quoted, "A proposed animal control ordinance that would limit the number of dogs, cats and rabbits to five per home has created a stir in the community and left council members inundated with phone calls, said Mike Dunn." Hello, that's always been the law!

Barrie Tilghman was doing what she does best and she was going after "one family" in order to take away pets from 7 children! That's how cold she is folks. She couldn't prove that these animals weren't well cared for and this particular family registered legally each and every year for a special permit allowing them to have above 5 animals so each child could own their very own pet. They weren't after the 5 animal law, they were after allowing any more special permits!

So in order to protect Barrie Tilghman and the Daily Times proving she was the front runner in this move, they eliminated her name completely from the article. It's amazing how they protect her and it's amazing the two real people in charge of defending her from the Salisbury Kennel Club were ignored and they chose to attempt to pass this supposed new rule anyway.

It was only until we found out about this one family and the fact that this information would go public, that's when the Mayor and Council backed off! It just proves once again that Barrie Tilghman will go to great lengths and extremes to hurt you if you're not a FOB.

My guess is that she'll call for a Press Conference in the near future to try to clear her name but just like every other time she'll come out looking like a fool once again.

On another note, Gary Comegys was overheard stating that the Humane Society Staff are deeply concerned over the amount of animals the Humane Society was forced to put down this summer. I heard it was in the hundreds.
I have just confirmed through the Humane Society that they have in factc put down close to 300 animals this summer alone. It's time we concentrate on helping the Humane Society Folks.
