Well IF you want to get technical, you can put a TM on just about anything. However, the TM Register, (which is the R with the circle around it) being used would make it completely illegal.
Anyhow, like I said, there are so many fonts out there, I doubt anyone would get a TM on a single letter. The TM was obviously left over from Ethan Allen and the humor of this whole thing is lost now anyway.
You probably could before they erased the "E"...wasn't that the Ethan Allen symbol?
ReplyDeleteIt was meant in humor. However, there are laws against companies stating they have a TM or SM when they actually don't.
ReplyDeleteYou CAN trademark the graphical treatment of a letter when it is treated as a logo.
ReplyDeleteJust ask General Motors about the GMC badge, IBM, the Oakland Athletics, etc.
