DeleteUnfortunately, ADHD medications can be prescribed by a family doctor without performing an ADHD battery of test and exams and does not require follow up appointment to monitor the child. While makers of ADHD drugs defend their use with data on those properly diagnosed, they leave out the data of the harmful effects of these mind altering drugs when taken by those improperly diagnosed. Too many parents and doctors had children become mentally altered as a quick fix because the child was hyper or had low grades, or had attention issues or had a rebellious attitude.

Can you imagine a teacher in the position of power control care and custody would abuse and take away from a child medication. Most kids taking this is in conjunction of other medication. You see it in victims of abuse cases. This is sick to me.

Every person working in the education system should go through an extensive background check and periodically updated, including blood test, from janitors to the top of the Board. Every stinking phone and computer needs to be checked. Its for the children, its already going to take decades to repair the injustices done to the system and children.

So many of us give EVERYTHING that we have each and every day for our kids! Many times we give more than their parents give them. Just because DAY is a screwed up person does not mean that we all are!! Out of the thousands of wicomico county employees there is a small handful of people like her trashy behind. Now, I am not saying that is ok either.. yes we should all go through background checks, but I will never be ok with being placed into the same "category" as someone like this and I do not need to be treated like some sort of criminal. I know every single righteous teacher understands my frustration with pieces of garbage like DAY even having a chance to be placed in the same category as us good teachers.
Everyone, please do not make stereotypical comments about all teachers. This sort of thing bothers us the most because we're ALWAYS worried about the child that is involved. I could care less about her, her husband, or they're families and what drama they have. Let's focus on these kids!

How many more isolated incidences will it take before even the most uneducated among you will realize that these aren`t isolated incidences? ReplyDeleteto answer a question of how it works, if Jake were to be removed. It would depend on what's in the city charter. Since Jake is a Democrat, it could go to the Democrat Central committee and they would give recommendations to the Council. Since a election is coming in 2020 they can appoint until then or they can appoint for the remainder of Jake's term, but it would be up to the Democrats to give recommendations for the replacement after a interview process but It all depends on whats written in the city charter on replacements. Who has access to the city charter that could look it up?

ReplyDeleteContraband being brought into the jail ( as I spoke to Somerset States Attorney) is normally charged with a 18 month sentence...
Yes, I know a lot of you might whimper
( saying Correctional officers suck ),
but we needed to set a pattern for those caught trafficking contraband In the jail...
( regardless of what Police agency is covering this up in Wicomico County she needs to be charged).
I recall one C.O. I caught moving cigarettes to inmates..and he recieved 18 months suspended, and gave up his pension.
I see no differences in teachers bringing in or transferring Contraband on the school site.
While I reflect on the seriousness of Mrs Days acts,
she should be charged and sentenced in criminal court as noted above.

How can the people responsible for watching our children not be held to the same standard as other government employees? You can work for the Board high on drugs with no fear of being tested unless someone reports you. Slip out for a little liquid lunch, no problem. This needs to be addressed now, before a child pays the price for allowing this to continue. Our children deserve educators who are working with a clear mind.

The County has no control over drug testing its in the boards lap and the union contracts will not let them.
It’s in the manual. All employees at any time for any reason. Teachers may contact union rep but will be put on leave. However I don’t no a single teacher that gets tested. 100 percent of all teacher I met in a party atmosphere did drugs.

That needs to be changed, other businesses do it, Children are in their care and they need to be held accountable for their actions.
The student didn't do anything wrong by telling her psychiatrist about it. However, she also wore a wire into school at the request of the police in order to get a recording of Day. I don't care what your personal feelings about it are, but on the street that's going to get you labeled a snitch.

We need more and more people to do the same thing so as to put an end to crap like this. Especially city employees. Laws were broken and those responsible need to pay the consequences.
