Why "Nothing Matters": Central Banks Have Bought A Record $1 Trillion In Assets In 2017

A quick, if familiar, observation to start the day courtesy of Bank of America which in the latest overnight note from Michael Hartnett notes that central banks (ECB & BoJ) have bought $1 trillion of financial assets just in the first four months of 2017, which amounts to $3.6 trillion annualized, "the largest CB buying on record."

As Hartnett notes, the "Liquidity Supernova is the best explanation why global stocks & bonds both annualizing double-digit gains YTD despite Trump, Le Pen, China, macro..."

Why can’t the Clintons just go away?

Since losing the most winnable presidential election in modern American history, Hillary Clinton has, among other things: given a series of high-profile speeches, joined Gov. Cuomo at his public unveiling of tuition-free college, refused to rule out a run for mayor of New York and issued an online video message exhorting fellow Democrats to fight on in her name.

“The challenges we face,” she said, “as a country and a party, are real.”

Clearly, Hillary still sees herself as the leader of the Democratic Party. And why shouldn’t she? Democrats have been locked in an abusive relationship with the Clintons for decades, enabling, explaining, convincing themselves that next time will be different. Party faithful hew to Hillary’s excuses for losing to Donald Trump: It’s James Comey’s fault, plus the Russians, white supremacists, misogynists, the deplorables and immobilized millennials, among other things.

Her losses in 2008 and 2016 have been framed as things that happened to Hillary — not one, but two Black Swan events that stymied her historic destiny.

‘Tonight Show’ host Fallon matches Gaithersburg school’s egg roulette fundraiser

WASHINGTON — A Montgomery County, Maryland, school caught the attention of late night television with its “egg-stremely” messy fundraiser.

Fields Road Elementary School in Gaithersburg held a Read-a-Thon to help the school purchase standing desks, blue tooth speakers and more in support of its “Move More” theme.

To reach the goal of $13,000, principal Erica Williams and assistant principal Kristi Ricca engaged in the “Egg Russian Roulette” challenge, a segment frequently featured in “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”

The game consists of having a certain number of eggs, one of which is raw, and the rest cooked. The players hit themselves on the head with the eggs at random, until one person gets egged.

The Case for Christ

As most of you doubtlessly know, Lee Strobel has a new movie out, "The Case for Christ," which is based on his blockbuster book with the same title. This movie is fabulous.

I began my search for Christ as a believer in God but not necessarily in the God of the Bible. But my friend Lee was even further from God. He was an outright atheist. This movie shows how Lee was on a mission to disprove Christianity's truth claims and bring his recently converted wife to her senses and ended up being slayed by the evidence.

Lee was an awarding-winning legal journalist at the Chicago Tribune and thought Christianity to be a myth, and he thought his wife, Leslie, was cheating on him by chasing after Christ. He was married to her, not some fictional being created by weak, needy people.

Frustrated, Lee shared his problem with certain colleagues and asked for their advice. He was beside himself as his wife sank deeper and deeper into this Christian vortex. His friends told him to be patient — that things would work out.

Lee decided to put his investigative skills to work and began his research, which included interviewing some of the most respected theologians to investigate their claims. But he also researched liberal scholarship and that of atheists and agnostics. He thought he could knock out this little task inside of a weekend but got more than he'd bargained for.

How Liberals Are Poisoning The Minds Of Young Americans

Our kids are no longer taught about patriotism, morality, honor or self-reliance. They’re not taught economics. They’re not taught about the Constitution. The boys aren’t taught to be men and the girls aren’t taught to be women. In fact, if you find kids who know anything about these subjects, it is almost certainly because their parents bent over backwards to jam that knowledge into their heads.

Our society used to inculcate these values in schools, church and via our entertainment. It was a different and, in many ways, better world. Liberals try to portray everything that happened in America’s past as evil and backward, but when you look at statistics like these from Charles Murray’s outstanding book, Coming Apart: The State of White America, 1960-2010, try and tell me that this country hasn’t gone downhill in the values we’re teaching our kids.

“To get a sense of how different attitudes were in the 1960s, perhaps this will do it. These ever-married women were asked, ‘In your opinion, do you think it is all right for a woman to have sexual relations before marriage with a man she knows she is going to marry?’ …Eighty-six percent said no.”

“Starting in 1970, marriage took a nosedive that lasted for nearly twenty years. Among all whites, ages 30-49, only 13 percent were not living with spouses as of 1970, Twenty years later, that proportion had more than doubled, to 27 percent — a change in a core social institution that has few precedents for magnitude and speed.”

Deadly Superbug Poses ‘Catastrophic Threat’ to US, Says Top Doc

Fungus represents a “catastrophic threat” to the public

A deadly fungus is causing a “catastrophic threat” in the United States and has already killed at least 61 people in recent years.

Candida auris is considered a superbug, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning that about 60 percent of people who have been infected by the fungus have died. So far, recorded cases have been mostly in New York and New Jersey, but Dr. Anne Schuchat, acting director of the CDC, is warning that it is highly dangerous and may spread.

Schuchat told STAT News this week that the fungus represents a “catastrophic threat” to the public and is one of the “scariest threats” currently facing the nation.

Worse Than Racists

As a group, black Americans have made the greatest gains — over some of the highest hurdles and in a very short span of time — of any racial group in mankind's history.

What's the evidence? If one totaled up the earnings of black Americans and considered us as a separate nation with our own gross domestic product, we would rank among the 20 richest nations. It was a black American, Gen. Colin Powell, who once headed the world's mightiest military. Black Americans are among the world's most famous personalities, and a few are among the world's richest people.

The significance of these and other achievements is that at the end of the Civil War, neither a slave nor a slave owner would have believed such progress would be possible in a little over a century — if ever. As such, it speaks to the intestinal fortitude of a people. Just as importantly, it speaks to the greatness of a nation in which such gains were possible. Nowhere else on the face of the earth would such progress be possible except in the United States of America. The big and thorny issue that confronts our nation is how these gains can be extended to the one-third or more of the black population for whom they have proved elusive.

A major part of the solution should be the elimination of public and private policy that rewards inferiority and irresponsibility.

Chief among the policies that reward inferiority and irresponsibility is the welfare state. When some people know that they can have children out of wedlock, drop out of school and refuse employment and suffer little consequence, one should not be surprised to see the growth of such behavior. The poverty rate among blacks is about 30 percent. It's seen as politically correct to blame today's poverty on racial discrimination, but that's nonsense.

Why?

Hogan signs Wor-Wic funding bill

An apparent inequity in funding for small colleges in eastern and western Maryland was rectified somewhat on Tuesday when Gov. Larry Hogan signed legislation that guarantees more money in state grants to Wor-Wic Community College beginning in fiscal 2019.

According to the analysis provided by the nonpartisan Department of Legislative Services, Allegany, Garrett and Hagerstown colleges each received about $821,000 in fiscal 2018, while four others, Wor-Wic, Carroll, Cecil and Chesapeake received only about half that.

According to the report, the western colleges were due to get about $851,000 and the eastern colleges approximately $426,000 next fiscal year.

Delegate Mary Beth Carozza and Dr. Ray Hoy, president of Wor-Wic, said in separate interviews the discrepancy was because the presiding officer at the time the funding formula was determined was from the western part of the state.

The Greatest Threat to America Isn’t Islam – It’s the Left

These days, many people are anxious about the threat that Islam poses to the West. The fear is understandable but misplaced. And there are a host of reasons why this proves to be true.

Islam is a religion stuck in pre-medieval times and has rarely produced any civilizational, scientific or technological advancements. Around 40 percent of Muslims worldwide are illiterate. Muslim nations are unable to manufacture even the most elementary of things without the aid of Western engineering, knowledge, and technology. To a great and powerful civilization, Islam can never pose a threat.

The only reason Islam was ever able to conquer two-thirds of the Christian territories after the death of Muhammed was because the Roman and Persian empires had weakened themselves and each other through centuries of warfare. Also, plague and famine had decimated the population in the Mediterranean region, leaving them vulnerable to attack.

The problems we are now facing with Islam are only symptoms of the left’s success in paralyzing the West and preventing it from asserting itself. Islam was never strong. The West has become weak. That is why fear of Islam is misplaced.

The real enemy of the West is the ideological left, an adversary from within which slowly but surely destroys western civilization by debilitating its cultural and political immune system.

20,000 Union Members, Retirees at Risk of Losing Pension Benefits

Five union pension plans are heading toward bankruptcy in the next 20 years if the federal government does not approve benefit cuts to retirees.

In March, four unions filed applications with the U.S. Treasury Department requesting relief under a program established by the Obama administration that allows multi-employer pension plans to cut benefits in order to sustain the long-term health of the plan. The applications from United Furniture Workers Pension Fund, Alaska Ironworkers Pension Fund, Southwest Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters, International Association of Machinists of Motor City Pension Fund, and Teamsters Local 805 Pension & Retirement Plan are all being reviewed by the department, according to the Pension Rights Center. If the cuts are approved on all four applications, as many as 20,309 union members could see their retirement money drastically reduced.

AEI Feminist Scholar: Feminism’s Goal Today ‘Is Not Equality With Men, It’s Protection From Them’

Christina Hoff Sommers discusses intersectional feminism, Linda Sarsour, and how feminism has changed

American Enterprise Institute resident scholar Christina Hoff Sommers is a classical equity feminist, meaning she believes the government should not impose an unfair advantage or disadvantage on women or men. But Sommers is concerned that classical equity feminism has been eclipsed by what she calls "fainting-couch feminism," an ideology overplaying victimhood that has leaked from college campuses and celebrity activists into the mainstream.

Sommers has been known to fight virulent feminism with facts in her writing and "Factual Feminist" video blog, where she addresses controversial topics that have risen on the feminist horizon in the past decade, including "the war on boys," gender politics and free speech on campuses, the wage gap, and rape culture. She recently spoke with the Washington Free Beacon to discuss what she has found disturbing about the rising "intersectional" feminist movement under President Donald Trump, and how she believes an inclusive feminist movement would have the biggest impact.

Sanders Suggests Democrats Should Prioritize Economy Over Social Issues

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) stood his ground Sunday morning over a controversial endorsement, saying that the Democratic Party should focus on economic over social issues.

"Face the Nation" host John Dickerson noted that there is a debate over prioritization of social and economic issues in the Democratic Party. Sanders and deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.) have come under fire for endorsing Heath Mello, a pro-life Democrat running for mayor in Omaha, Nebraska.

"One of the reasons there's a bit of a debate about the Omaha candidate for Mayor, is that he is against abortion rights and so there is a debate about cultural issues versus economic," Dickerson said. "How does the party sort all that out?"

Sanders was quick to defend his and his party's pro-abortion credentials.

"I have a 100% lifetime pro-choice voting record, overwhelming majority of Democrats are pro-choice," Sanders said. "I'm going to do everything that I can to see that the Republicans do not get away with their horrific efforts to defund Planned Parenthood which provides health care to 2.5 million women."

Biden Used False Data to Smear Marine Corps Over Armored Vehicle Request from Iraq

New report contradicts whistleblower claims of Marine negligence in failing to get MRAPs to Iraq

The story on the front page of USA Today in 2007 made a sensational claim: Military leaders in wartime had failed to provide troops in Iraq being killed by roadside bombs with mine-resistant jeeps.

"Pentagon balked at pleas for safer vehicles," read the headline. The story went on to assert that the Marine Corps, in particular, was negligent for waiting 19 months before responding to an urgent request for mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, or MRAPs.

Democrats in the Senate pounced on the story to attack then-President George W. Bush over Iraq. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, flanked by other Democratic leaders, went before news reporters the day the story came out waving the newspaper in front of cameras as proof the president was failing to take care of American troops in a war.

Molly, ME, ME, ME!!! Earth Day Made Many Want To Puke

Between Liberal parents forcing their children to wear stupid hats or carry signs to pass on their agendas, guest speakers had the crowd very ticked off as they spoke about me, me, me, I, I, I!

People came there to support Earth Day, not listen to a bunch of a-holes, (like Molly) speak about how great they are. They wanted to hear about Earth Day topics and instead were subjected to  jackasses like Molly talk about their college background, jobs and lifestyle choices.

Me personally, I walked away and left the event after wanting to puke. I care about my earth but quite frankly I could give a crap about you liberal jackasses and your backgrounds.

I'll bet you won't hear about this anywhere else in your local media! The event sucked. They spent 90% of their time talking about themselves and 10% of their time marching for the cause. Typical Liberal Event in Ocean City and very poorly attended, especially if you take away the children forced to be there.

Fifth man pleads guilty to sexual assault of teen in OC

One of the five men charged in a sexual assault that occurred in Ocean City pleaded guilty to second-degree sex offense and filming child pornography in Circuit Court in Snow Hill last Wednesday.

Kevin J. Caceres, 20, of Rockville, Maryland also faced charges of second-degree rape, assault and other sex offences, for assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a midtown hotel room last Memorial Day weekend. However, he agreed to a plea deal with Assistant State’s Attorney Diane Karsnitz that carried a recommendation to four to nine years in prison.

Second-degree sex offense carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and filming child pornography is punishable up to 25 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Caceres was charged with assaulting the juvenile in December after a six-month investigation that involved the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and Ocean City Police Department. The investigation began on June 14, when a Worcester deputy arrested Erick H. Ramirez, 21, of Silver Spring, Maryland on drug charges and confiscated his phone.

He issued a dire warning to Europeans, saying that the continent is being ‘colonized’ by Muslims who seek to import incompatible customs, Sharia Law, and their often violent adherence to the tenets of the Quran.

Obama heads to Chicago to agitate against Trump

Why there? No doubt, it’s one of the more receptive breeding grounds for his particular brand of activism — the activism he’ll be touting to malleable student-age minds while engaging in, as his people called it, a “conversation about community organizing and civic engagement.”

Make no mistake about it. This is about teaching the upcoming generation, loud as it already is about all topics that offend, to get even louder, even Leftist Prouder, and to — here’s the gist — use that Leftist Loud and Proud persona to tackle the problem of President Donald Trump.

This will all be couched in polite-sounding language, of course.

You Won't Believe How Much You'll Save Thrift Shopping for Clothes

Besides the huge discounts it offers, buying secondhand can help the environment as well.

If the rapper Macklemore is to be believed, then skipping the high prices of the retail racks and going straight to the thrift store for solid deals on clothing is a practice worth extolling in song. That's because these stores are frequently lined in wares that are in exceptional condition; not even the most seasoned shopper is immune to an occasional bout of buyer's remorse, and when making a return isn't an option, perfectly fine and gently used clothes wind up on racks of thrift and consignment shops.

This type of green business actually makes it possible to score unbelievable deals — and save some cash — on like-new clothing. And with Earth Day right around the corner, thrift shopping is a timely topic to learn about.

Being people who work with cold hard numbers, we wanted to know a bit more about the facts and figures behind thrift and consignment shopping, namely: How much can you save with secondhand clothing? We turned to Carolyn Schneider, author of The Ultimate Consignment & Thrift Store Guide, a 400-plus-page bible of the pursuit, to shed some light on the matter.

Confirmed: John Brennan Colluded With Foreign Spies to Defeat Trump

Confirmed: John Brennan Colluded With Foreign Spies to Defeat Trump
An article in the Guardian last week provides more confirmation that John Brennan was the American progenitor of political espionage aimed at defeating Donald Trump. One side did collude with foreign powers to tip the election — Hillary’s.

Seeking to retain his position as CIA director under Hillary, Brennan teamed up with British spies and Estonian spies to cripple Trump’s candidacy. He used their phony intelligence as a pretext for a multi-agency investigation into Trump, which led the FBI to probe a computer server connected to Trump Tower and gave cover to Susan Rice, among other Hillary supporters, to spy on Trump and his people.

John Brennan’s CIA operated like a branch office of the Hillary campaign, leaking out mentions of this bogus investigation to the press in the hopes of inflicting maximum political damage on Trump. An official in the intelligence community tells TAS that Brennan’s retinue of political radicals didn’t even bother to hide their activism, decorating offices with “Hillary for president cups” and other campaign paraphernalia.

A supporter of the American Communist Party at the height of the Cold War, Brennan brought into the CIA a raft of subversives and gave them plum positions from which to gather and leak political espionage on Trump. He bastardized standards so that these left-wing activists could burrow in and take career positions. Under the patina of that phony professionalism, they could then present their politicized judgments as “non-partisan.”

One guard is seen in the video firing warning shots around the incoming speedboat, landing just feet away.

“Where they at, what’s their position?” one contractor shouts, after the security guards finish up firing dozens of rounds at the speedboat.

As the first speedboat retreats, a second boat races toward the starboard of the ship.

OC Graffiti Artist Violates Probation

OCEAN CITY — A Montgomery County man, sentenced in 2015 convicted in 2015 for his role in a massive graffiti spree in the downtown area of Ocean City, was sent back to jail to serve out the rest of his original three-year sentence this week following a violation of probation hearing.

In November 2015, Raul Vasquez, Jr., now 21, of Silver Spring, was sentenced to three years in jail for his role in a spree of at least 45 graffiti incidents in downtown Ocean City in April 2015, but all but six months of which was suspended. Vasquez served his sentence, but has since been arrested on an assault charge in Montgomery County, triggering a violation of the terms of his probation for the Worcester County conviction. Back in District Court in Ocean City on Monday, Vasquez was found guilty of violation of probation and was sent back to serve the remainder of his original sentence, or two years and four months.

In the early morning hours on April 19, 2015, Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officers first discovered graffiti in the area of 17th Street and Philadelphia Avenue around 5 a.m. After a canvas of the area, OCPD officers located approximately 45 graffiti “taggings,” affecting multiple businesses and citizens. The spray paint spree ran from 16th Street to 20th Street and included restaurant walls, shopping center windows, motel windows and walls and multiple vehicles. With assistance from area businesses, OCPD officers were quickly able to determine that suspects from outside the area were responsible for the vandalism.

John Bolton: NKorea Just Getting 'Worse and Worse'

North Korea's provocations are still trending in the wrong direction and will only get worse when they achieve their nuclear objectives, former U.N. ambassador John Bolton said Sunday.

"When you look at North Korea's behavior, it just gets worse and worse and worse," Bolton told "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y., per The Hill.

"If this is North Korea's behavior now, imagine what it will be when they really do have deliverable nuclear weapons, which, as I say, could come very soon."

Bolton was particularly concerned about North Korea's burgeoning threat of bringing their nuclear weapons closer to the U.S. through improved submarines.

University Professor Arrested for Allegedly Fabricating Anti-Muslim Threats

An Indiana State University professor was arrested for allegedly fabricating anti-Muslim email threats and an assault against himself on campus.

Azhar Hussain, 56, was arrested Friday and charged with felony obstruction of justice and misdemeanor harassment, the Tribune-Star reported.

Hussain, who worked as an assistant professor of aviation technology, has been suspended from teaching duties, according to a release sent out by the university.

The school says the charges originate from a series of emails with anti-Muslim messages and threats from what they thought was an unknown sender at the time, with Hussain as a target.

The first report of these emails occurred on March 8. On March 24, Hussain reported that someone attacked him from behind and threw him to the floor.

Hood College Republicans club's display causes backlash, possible penalties

A display at Hood College intended to spark discussion of hot-button topics has instead been met with criticism and possible penalties for the creators if the college determines they violated school policy.

The Hood College Republicans club on Tuesday decorated a glass case displayed in the Whitaker Student Center with material highlighting conservative viewpoints on topics including abortion and transgender people. Club members said they intended the display, which is available for student groups to use on a rotating basis, to highlight conservative culture and to invite an open discussion of different beliefs.

But students, alumni and faculty instead framed the controversial quotations and images as hateful and threatening, particularly to the minority groups mentioned in the material. Some have called for the display to be removed ahead of the scheduled takedown next Tuesday.

Trump Warns Democrats "Obamacare Will Die Soon Without 'Big Money'"

Amid tensions over debt ceiling discussions and government shutdown concerns, Republicans continue to face the fact that passing an Obamacare 'alternative' remains highly unlikely.

But it appears the GOP has a cunning plan to cross that chasm. President Trump said early Sunday that ObamaCare will die "far sooner than anyone" thought if it doesn't receive federal funds to keep it going.
ObamaCare is in serious trouble. The Dems need big money to keep it going - otherwise it dies far sooner than anyone would have thought.
As The Hill reports, the president's message comes just days before the Democrats and Republicans must agree on a federal budget or face a government shutdown. Both parties are pushing for funding of their own priorities. The White House is pushing for funds to build a wall along the Mexican border and enhance border security, while Democrats hope to make more inroads in healthcare coverage.
The Democrats don't want money from budget going to border wall despite the fact that it will stop drugs and very bad MS 13 gang members.

This Picture of Earth From Within Saturn's Rings Will Make You Emotional

Sometimes, the majesty of the final frontier—a cold, unfeeling space—has the power to make our eyes misty. The images from NASA’s Cassini mission have often been able to do this, and since the spacecraft is dying soon, it makes the experience all the more emotional. Before it goes out in a blaze of glory, Cassini has been sending back some of the most incredible images of Saturn and its moons—but one of its latest from Saturn’s rings is especially spectacular.

On April 12th, while it was roughly 870 million miles (1.4 billion kilometers) from Earth, Cassini beamed back this glorious image, featuring an unprecedented view of Earth from within Saturn’s rings. Saturn’s A and F rings frame the picture, with Earth in the middle, ready for its (not so) close up. If you look really closely, in a cropped version, you can even see our moon to the left of our Pale Blue Dot. Yup, that’s us and our Moon—just two tiny specks in the solar system.
