MS-13 Gang Members Recruiting Inside Immigration Facility

A small number of MS-13 gang members are said to be crossing into the U.S. amongst the massive influx of children from Central America. The notoriously violent Mara Salvatrucha gang has origins in Central America and their members are active in cities across the United States.

An internal Border Patrol executive summary obtained by Townhall.com confirms that at least 16 unaccompanied illegal minors (those under the age of 18, according to U.S. government policy), are members of the brutal El Salvadorian street gang Mara Salvatrucha—or MS-13.

Gang members left graffiti on the walls of the Nogales (Arizona) Border Patrol processing center, which suggested they had ties to the organization, Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich reported earlier this week.

40% of Federal Criminal Cases in 2013 Were in Districts on Mexican Border

Whether measured by the number of criminal cases filed by U.S. attorneys or the number of guilty verdicts they ultimately secured in cases in U.S. district courts, 40 percent of the federal crimes documented by the Justice Department in fiscal 2013 took place in the five U.S. court districts (out of the total of 94 U.S. court districts) that sit on the U.S.-Mexico border.

These five U.S. court districts contiguous with the Mexican border were also the five where the largest numbers of individuals were convicted of federal crimes in fiscal 2013.

In the Western Texas district alone--which saw more federal crime than any other district in the country--more than twice as many federal criminals were convicted in fiscal 2013 as in all four U.S. court districts in New York state combined.

Cloward–Piven strategy

The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty". Cloward and Piven were a married couple who were both professors at the Columbia University School of Social Work. The strategy was formulated in a May 1966 article in the liberal[1] magazine The Nation titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty".[2]

The two stated that many Americans who were eligible for welfare were not receiving benefits, and that a welfare enrollment drive would strain local budgets, precipitating a crisis at the state and local levels that would be a wake-up call for the federal government, particularly the Democratic Party. There would also be side consequences of this strategy, according to Cloward and Piven. These would include: easing the plight of the poor in the short-term (through their participation in the welfare system); shoring up support for the national Democratic Party-then splintered by pluralistic interests (through its cultivation of poor and minority constituencies by implementing a national "solution" to poverty); and relieving local governments of the financially and politically onerous burdens of public welfare (through a national "solution" to poverty)[citation needed].

Bellyaching Over Hobby Lobby Ruling Totally Ridiculous

When the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the Obama administration could not force the owners of Hobby Lobby to pay for birth control methods they believed caused abortions, the left reacted with its usual over-the-top melodramatic hysteria.

We heard that the case was “really about a fear of women’s sexuality,” Holly Lobby was compared to the Taliban, and there was bellowing that women have no access to birth control.

All this hand-wringing and bed-wetting over four “contraceptives” that Hobby Lobby did not agree with. Hobby Lobby still covers 16 methods of birth control with no copay from the Hobby Lobby employee.

UPDATE To Traffic Alert In Worcester County

Update to Traffic Alert!
This from the Maryland State Police...

Maryland State Police said charges are pending against a 43-year-old Berlin man who led a trooper on a chase from Route 50 in the Whaleyville area down Route 610 almost to the Route 113 intersection.
On July 11 at about 2:45 p.m., Trooper Andrew Broadwater was working a stationary laser assignment near the westbound lanes of Route 50 at Hall Road when he saw that a Lexus was driving 80 miles per hour in a 55 miles-per-hour speed limit area, according to a state police news release.
Broadwater tried to stop the Lexus, but the driver –– Tyrell Henry Oliver –– accelerated and jerked the wheel and Broadwater moved out of the way, feeling endangered, police said. Broadwater then pursued the car as the driver turned onto Route 610, according to police. The suspect crossed the center line and passed vehicles on the shoulder as he was speeding, police said.
Oliver lost control of the vehicle just before the Route 113 intersection, as he was approaching traffic and tried to stop but fishtailed, police said. The Lexus rotated clockwise, hit a wooden pole and overturned several times after going off of the roadway, according to police. Police said Oliver was ejected but was conscious and alert.
Drugs were found at the collision scene, police said.
Oliver was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, and charges relating to drug possession with the intent to distribute, possession of drugs, fleeing and eluding police, traffic charges and assault charges are pending, according to police.

Sheriff Joe Completely Destroys Al Sharpton for "Racism" Claims

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has never been one to mince words, and he stayed true to form when confronting Al Sharpton on his claims that enforcement of illegal immigration laws is somehow equivalent toracism. Liberals seem to love to accuse border securityproponents of racism, and Sharpton is no exception.

Sheriff Arpaio has made it clear, however, that he and his deputies will enforce the law regardless of race. Of the accused criminals currently incarcerated in his jails, he says, fully 20 percent are in the country illegally–the race of these individuals is irrelevant. Even the liberal Sharpton had to commend the sheriff for getting violent criminals off the street.

In his defense of immigration law, Arpaio also cited its popularity among Arizonacitizens and others.

Hispanic Lawmakers to Obama: Use ‘Executive Action’ to Stop All Deportations of Illegal Aliens

At a press conference on Thursday, Reps. Luis Guiterrez (D-Ill.) and Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) joined immigration activists to call on President Barack Obama to stop deportations and allow illegal aliens to have work permits in the latest effort to compel the president to make sweeping changes to immigration law through executive orders.

They also called on expanding the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to parents of so-called Dreamers and others that would qualify for a path to citizenship as spelled out in the immigration bill (S.744) as passed by the Senate in June 2013 but not taken up by the House.

“I believe the president of the United States can take the kind of broad, executive action that can help millions of people stop their deportation and be in deportation proceedings, No. 1, or possibly ever be deported, and give them a work permit,” said Guiterrez, who with Grijalva is also a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC).

Seattle business group clears hurdle in push to repeal $15 minimum wage

A coalition of Seattle businesses has cleared a major hurdle in its effort to repeal the city’s newly enacted $15-an-hour minimum wage, gathering enough petition signatures to put the issue to voters on the November ballot if the signatures hold up.

Forward Seattle -- which represents restaurants, merchants and other businesses -- submitted roughly 19,500 signatures last Wednesday to City Hall.

The group needed 16,510 signatures. City officials could complete a preliminary count by as early as Monday, then send the signatures to the King County election office for final verification.

IRS Email Hunt Shows Lerner Switched To Texts, Which Aren't Kept....'Perfect'

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan has ordered the IRS to explain what happened to Lois Lerner’s emails.Judicial Watch sued when the IRS refused to provide them. DOJ tried hard to block it but lost. The legal wrangling is just one more seedy chapter in a scandal that casts further doubt on the tax system.

Still, it may bring a smile to the face of more than a few American taxpayers who have ever had to hunt for a receipt to hand over to the IRS. Will the IRS comply? It is harder to end-run a Judge than Congressional investigators. Yet the IRS seems pretty savvy at stalling. Besides, there’s a new wrinkle: Texts aren’t emails.

Remember the old saying, “if you don’t ask (for exactly the right thing), you don’t get?” Oh, you mean there are texts too? Yes, some of the real juice may be in text or instant messages. Indeed, in 2013 when the IRS targeting scandal was already brewing, Ms. Lerner asked an IRS IT specialist if the IRS saved texts? No, they are not automatically saved, came back the response.

Schumer to Religious Americans: Pick One--Your Faith or Your Business

At a press conference Thursday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said people with religious beliefs who disagree with the ObamaCare contraception mandate can choose their faith or “you don’t have to form a corporation.”

“You’re born with a religion or you adopt a religion. You have to obey the precepts of that religion and the government gives you a wide penumbra – you don’t have to form a corporation,” Schumer said.

Schumer claims the Supreme Court’s decision that closely-held firms have a right to deny coverage for certain types of birth control they find objectionable under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) was “misapplied.”

Big Wind Is Better Than Big Oil, But Just as Bad at P.R.

NNancy Shea didn’t learn about the wind farm until after she moved to northwest Massachusetts to enjoy a quiet country life. The news didn’t bother her. Shea, who describes herself as “green” and “crunchy,” favors clean and renewable energy. But just days after the 19-turbine project went online Shea sensed something wrong. She “felt kind of queasy,” one day in the kitchen. Later she woke up feeling like she had bed spins.

Shea’s husband did some research and learned about wind turbine syndrome (WTS), a condition said to be caused by “infrasound,” an inaudible low-frequency sound produced by the turbines. Sufferers complain about symptoms like insomnia, vertigo, headaches and disorientation. “It’s a hard to describe sensation, you just want to crawl out of your skin,” Shea says.

A few nights later, the couple could hear the turbines spinning—the closest is 2,200 feet away. It sounded, Shea says, like a jet repeatedly flying over their cabin. Neither of them could sleep and they drove through a snowstorm to another property they have several miles away. Shea felt better immediately. Similar symptoms have been reported worldwide by people who live near wind turbines. But America’s wind industry says their condition is psychological.

Court Backs Finding Of Wind Turbine Noise Problem

Lake Winds energy plant in Mason County now has to mitigate noise of its windmills

Michigan's 51st Circuit Court has ruled that Mason County was justified in determining that wind turbines at the Lake Winds Industrial Wind Plant near Ludington are too noisy.

In his June 16 decision, Judge Richard Cooper denied Consumer Energy's appeal to have the court overturn the county's finding that the wind plant was exceeding the county's established decibel level limits.

In a highly technical explanation, Judge Cooper said it was reasonable for the county to take into account the impact of maximum wind speeds that are not outside the norm. He also rejected the argument that excessive noise levels occurring only during certain periods of time should be allowed.

Military Videos And Veteran Community With Army, Navy, Air Force News. » Soldier Who Returned To Base With Taliban Commander’s Head, Cleared For Duty

The Nepalese soldier with 1st Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles who was removed from Afghanistan after beheading a Taliban commander, has now been cleared for duty after a four year investigation.

In July of 2010 Gurkha soldiers conducted a raid in Helmand province to kill or capture a high value individual. The troops killed their man, but the mission had very specific instructions to bring back proof that they had gotten the right guy.

Initially, the Gurkhas attempted to retrieve the entire body for identification, but soon found themselves engaged in an intense Taliban counter attack. The Gurkhas needed to break contact, but they also needed to complete their mission. The soldier made the heat-of-the-moment decision to pull out his traditional Kukri knife and take only the Taliban commander’s head, allowing his men to remain mobile and complete their objective.

Rather than acknowledging the soldier for placing the mission first and his quick initiative under hostile fire, POG commanders who place public relations in a higher priority bracket than mission, went on a CYA campaign of shaming the individual to the media as they rushed him out of country. Eventually, common sense won out, and now the soldier is finally being commended for his dedication to duty.

Pennsylvania school bus drivers cut ties with local union

School bus drivers in Pennsylvania may have dealt a deep financial blow to a local union after voting overwhelmingly to cut ties.

Nearly 90 percent of drivers from the Gateway School District voted to withdraw from Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1729 in a June 27 secret ballot election. The vote means that the union will lose out on dues money from the 105 drivers employed by the district.

Local 1729 has been hemorrhaging members over the past 10 years and had just 130 dues-paying members in 2013, down from nearly 240 in 2009, according to federal labor filings. The union had hoped that the Gateway District, which is located in the Pittsburgh suburb of Monroeville, would reverse the trend.

Ramadan Gets Six-Year Sentence For Enterprise Corruption

OCEAN CITY — One of two Ocean City residents indicted by a New York grand jury in May 2013 in a vast multi-million cigarette smuggling and money laundering enterprise was sentenced this week to a maximum of six years in prison.

Samer Ramadan, 41, of Ocean City, last week pleaded guilty to enterprise corruption, the top charge against him for his role in the massive cigarette smuggling scheme. Back in Kings County, N.Y. Supreme Court on Monday, Ramadan was sentenced to a maximum of six years in prison and a minimum of two years. Another co-conspirator, Youssef Odeh, last week pleaded guilty to enterprise corruption and second-degree conspiracy for his role in an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting witnesses in the case and was also sentenced this week to a maximum of six years and a minimum of two.

In May 2013, federal officials concluded an investigation into a multi-million dollar cigarette smuggling operation based in and around the resort area with raids on two locations including the West Ocean City homes of local residents and business owners Basel Ramadan, 43, who has been called the “ringleader” and Samer Ramadan, who is being called the operation’s “enterprise treasurer.” Also indicted were 14 other alleged co-conspirators, from transporters to distributors to resellers, who were rounded up at locations all over the mid-Atlantic region on the same day as the federal raids in the Ocean City area.

Act of War on America – Mexico and Guatemala Sign Agreement to Fast-Track Invasion of U.S.

A Monday joint press conference was held by Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Guatemalan president Otto Perez Molina to announce their agreement to jointly cooperate in and facilitate the invasion of their northern neighbor, the United States.

Labeled “The Southern Border Program to Improve Passage,” it is an officially-sanctioned, coordinated effort on the part of Mexico and the nations of Central America to invade the United States.

The agreement provides a network of border checkpoints through which an internal Mexican travel document will be issued, which is valid for a period of 72 hours. That document, known as a Regional Visitor’s Card, will provide temporary legal status to those in Mexico illegally for the sole purpose of invading the United States.

Police Back Off On Plan To Take Explicit Photo

Police in Virginia on Thursday backed off efforts to take sexually explicit photos of a 17-year-old to prove a sexting case against him.

Police and prosecutors faced a wave of criticism following news media reports that they had obtained a warrant to take photos of the teen's erect penis. Police wanted the pictures to compare against photos he is accused of sending to his 15-year-old girlfriend at the time.

On Thursday, Manassas Police Lt. Brian Larkin said the Police Department will not proceed with the plan to take the pictures and will let a search warrant authorizing the photos to expire.

Privacy advocates had criticized the plan as a violation of the teen's constitutional rights.

Federal judge orders IRS to explain lost Lerner emails ‘under oath’

A federal judge has ordered the IRS to explain "under oath" how the agency lost a trove of emails from the official at the heart of the Tea Party targeting scandal.

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan gave the tax agency 30 days to file a declaration by an "appropriate official" to address the computer issues with ex-official Lois Lerner.

The decision came Thursday as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, which along with GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill has questioned how the IRS lost the emails and, in some cases, had no apparent way to retrieve them.

The IRS first acknowledged it lost the emails in a letter to senators last month.

Border Security Laughing Matter to Obama in 2011

In a speech near the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas on May 10, 2011, President Barack Obama noted the steps taken by his administration to strengthen border security, but said Republicans in Congress were never satisfied and mocked that they will want a “higher fence” and then “a moat,” and then “alligators in the moat.”

“So, here’s the point,” said Obama, speaking outside to a crowd in El Paso. “I want everybody to listen carefully to this. We have gone above and beyond what was requested by the very Republicans who said they supported broader reform as long as we got serious about enforcement. All the stuff they asked for, we’ve done.”

“But even though we’ve answered these concerns, I’ve got to say I suspect there are still going to be some who are trying to move the goal posts on us one more time,” said the president.

Zogby Poll: Rand Paul Starts to Build Lead Over 2016 GOP Rivals

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has pulled ahead of the crowded pack of Republican presidential contenders and has 20 percent support for the first time, Zogby Analytics said.

"Rand Paul is emerging as the frontrunner in this race," Zogby said in a statement.

Paul has previously led in national polling of likely GOP voters. A July Quinnipiac University survey showed Paul ahead of the field with 11 percent support. And a May-June CNN poll had him leading with 14 percent.

In the Zogby poll, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie share the No. 2 spot with 13 percent each. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has 8 percent; Florida Sen. Marco Rubio gets 7 percent, and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal pulls 4 percent.

Better than Obamacare

Health savings accounts would be free from government control.

It’s fortunate the Supreme Court of the United States saw fit last week to rule that corporations could not be coerced into covering religiously objectionable forms of birth control in their employees’ insurance.

This was a critical ruling, because it indicates that the majority of the Court still thinks religious beliefs and personal choice have a valid place in American society. The margin of the split decision, however, is alarming, because it reminds us of how close we are to having a government that will subject moral convictions to its bureaucratically directed control.

People have legitimate differences of opinion about the appropriateness of various forms of birth control, which is something most reasonable people on both sides of the political ledger understand. However, legally requiring the side opposed to a form of birth control to be financially responsible for its distribution to any employee who wants it is distinctly un-American and abusive to the concept of freedom of religion.

Democrats push race issues

Democrats are injecting race into the 2014 midterm elections amid fears that a drop-off in minority voters could severely cost them at the polls this fall.

Democratic leaders in Congress and administration officials have suggested GOP opposition to policies ranging from immigration reform to ObamaCare are, at least partly, motivated by race.

More broadly, they’ve suggested conservative Tea Party criticism of President Obama is based on the fact that he is black.

Democrats reject charges that the rhetoric is a concerted political calculation on their part as they try to retain their Senate majority and make gains in the House.

“You turn out voters by demonstrating your past performance and what you’re promising to do for a constituent in the future,” said Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “I don’t call that race-baiting. I call that a political platform.”

IRS Update

House members release emails showing IRS officials may have communicated with instant messages that weren't archived.

Republicans have been after the IRS for the loss of two years worth of emails from computer crashes. The emails come from the tax exempt organization, which was found to have discriminated against conservative groups in the two years before the 2012 election.

The Wall Street Journal reports, the emails released this week show former tax exempt official Lois Lerner inquiring whether instant messages were saved. When the IT official replied they were not, Lerner sent a one-word reply: Perfect.

How Loophole In Tainted Food Recalls Bit Chicken Company In The Butt

For more than a year, chicken producer Foster Farms has been tied to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened hundreds of people, resulted in the shutdown of a Foster plant and the destruction of more than a million pounds of meat. But a loophole in USDA guidelines meant that that the company didn’t issue any recalls until just last week. Now it’s that same loophole that appears to be coming back to bite Foster in the derriere.

Meatingplace.com reports that Foster had an insurance policy with Lloyd’s of London to cover the company in case of losses from contaminated product.

But apparently Lloyd’s doesn’t want to pay up because there were no actual recalls of Foster products.

As we recently pointed out, the Poultry Products Inspection Act allows for the recall of “adulterated” meat, but defines adulterated as containing poisons, toxic pesticides, unsafe food additives, or contains any “deleterious substance which may render it injurious to health.”

But this doesn’t include salmonella, because salmonella is frequently found in poultry, but not to the point where it presents a hazard. And the act says a meat product shall not be considered as adulterated if “the quantity of such substance in or on such article does not ordinarily render it injurious to health.”

PHILADELPHIA MAN ARRESTED AFTER AN EXTENSIVE SEARCH THROUGH OC

Weldon C. Lucas
Ocean City Police have arrested a man from Philadelphia, PA after a routine traffic stop led to an extensive search and a burglary investigation lasting over four hours.

On July 7, 2014, at approximately 4 p.m. Ocean City police on uniformed vehicle patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Philadelphia Avenue and 32nd Street for a seatbelt violation and an expired registration plate. During the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle stated that he did not have a valid driver’s license and gave false identification information.

When officers asked the driver, later identified as Weldon C. Lucas III, 38, to step out of the vehicle, Lucas fled from the scene on foot and began running westbound across Philadelphia Avenue until officers lost sight of him. Additional officers responded to the area and were unable to locate Lucas. During the investigation, officers determined that Lucas had a suspended driver’s license and also had multiple warrants out for his arrest from the Philadelphia Police Department.

Multiple members of the OCPD, including detectives from the Major Crimes Division and Special Enforcement Unit, as well as patrol officers, continued to actively search for Lucas. At approximately 8:30 p.m. police located and arrested Lucas in the area of 82nd Street and the beach.

Through investigation, detectives learned that Lucas had burglarized a condo unit after he initially fled from police and stole a bicycle and clothing items to disguise himself.

Ocean City Police have charged Lucas with multiple burglary and theft charges in addition to various traffic violations. Lucas declined to be seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and has been transferred to the Worcester County Jail.

ARE YOU A ‘SUITABLE PERSON?’ Massachusetts H.4121 Would Gut The 2nd Amendment

Massachusetts H.4121 would allow state officials to arbitrarily and capriciously deny citizens the right to bear arms if they don’t meet the government’s idea of what constitutes a “suitable person” (our bold):

SECTION 19. Section 129B of said chapter 140, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out paragraph (1) and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:- (1) Any person residing or having a place of business within the jurisdiction of the licensing authority or any person residing in an area of exclusive federal jurisdiction located within a city or town may submit to the licensing authority an application for a firearm identification card, or renewal of the same, which the licensing authority may issue if it appears that the applicant is a suitable person to be issued a card and that the applicant has good reason to fear injury to his person or property, or for any other reason, including the carrying of firearms for use in sport or target practice only…

H.4121 leaves the defining of what constitutes a “suitable person” to the whims of the government of Massachusetts:

The executive office of public safety and security, with the advice and recommendations of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association and the gun control advisory board, shall promulgate rules and regulations establishing uniform standards that specify, clarify or define what constitutes a suitable person for purposes of issuing a card pursuant to this paragraph.

This law would allow the state to arbitrarily deny the issuance of a firearm owner identification (FOID) card to Massachusetts citizens, regardless of whether or not they broke any laws, had a criminal record, or record of mental health problems.

**Traffic Advisory** Sandtown Road Closed Due to Overturned Truck, Felton

Felton, DE – Troopers and emergency personnel are currently on the scene of an overturned truck on Sandtown Road with liquid debris spilled.

The incident occurred around 5:35 a.m. this morning as a 2005 Ford 6-wheeled tank truck (owned by George & Lynch Inc.) was traveling on eastbound on Sandtown Road when for unknown reasons, the 47 year old operator from Henderson, MD, lost control causing the loaded "water based TAC truck" to overturn and spill the liquid debris in the roadway and a ditch.

The operator, who was reportedly uninjured, refused any treatment at the scene. The investigation is on-going and no charges have been filed at this time.

Sandtown Road between Chandlers Road and Amsterdam Road is currently closed while officials from DNREC assist with the clean-up. DelDOT will advise when the roadway is re-opened and you can monitor that update by clicking on the attached link:

Microsoft warns of pending support deadlines for Windows 7, Office 2010 SP1, Windows Server 2003, and more

Summary: Microsoft officials are beginning to sound the support warning bell for customers running a number of its popular products, including Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, and more.

As the second half 2014 rolls in, Microsoft is stepping up its warnings for approaching support deadlines for some of its key products, including Windows 7.

A few definitions worth knowing: Mainstream support is the typically five-year period when Microsoft provides free patches and fixes, including but not limited to security updates, for its products. When a product exits the mainstream support phase, Microsoft continues to provide a period (also often five years) of extended support, which means users get free security fixes but other types of updates are paid and require specific licensing deals.

"End of support" means there will be no more fixes or patches -- paid or free, security or non-security -- coming for specific products. (There are some temporary workarounds, as Windows XP users have discovered, but as a general rule, end of support means, for most intents and purposes, the end.)

Top judge delivers profanity-filled blast at US Supreme Court

A top judge has told the U.S. Supreme Court to 'stfu' in a blog post.

Richard Kopf, the senior district judge in Nebraska delivered the profanity-filled blast to justices for taking what he sees as a too active role in controversial cases.

He said: 'Next term is the time for the Supreme Court to go quiescent–this term and several past terms have proven that the Court is now causing more harm (division) to our democracy than good by deciding hot button cases that the Court has the power to avoid.

'As the kids say, it is time for the Court to stfu.'

The acronym stfu is used for the phrase 'shut the f*** up'.

It is the latest in a series of blog-related controversies Judge Kopf has been involved in.

In March, he wrote a post titled 'On being a dirty old man and how young women lawyers dress' that recommended some female lawyers should dress more conservatively.

In October, Judge Kopf declared Congress should 'go to hell'.

7 Body Language Tricks To Make Anyone Instantly Like You

There's no question that body language is important.

And according to Leil Lowndes in her book "How To Talk To Anyone," you can capture — and hold — anyone's attention without saying a word.

We've selected the best body-language techniques from the book and shared them below.

The Flooding Smile

"Don't flash an immediate smile when you greet someone," says Lowndes. If you do, it appears as if anyone in your line of sight would receive that same smile.

Instead, pause and look at the other person's face for a second, and then let a "big, warm, responsive smile flood over your face and overflow into your eyes."

Even though the delay is less than a second, it will convince people your smile is sincere and personalized for them. According to Lowndes, a slower smile can add more richness and depth to how people perceive you.

Always Fun: Stella Awards

* SEVENTH PLACE *
Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store.

The store owners were understandably surprised by the verdict, considering the running toddler was her own son

* SIXTH PLACE *
Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles , California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbour ran over his hand with a Honda Accord.

Truman apparently didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the car when he was trying to steal his neighbour’s hubcaps.

* FIFTH PLACE
Terrence Dickson, of Bristol , Pennsylvania , who was leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the garage.

Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get the garage door to open.

Worse, he couldn't re-enter the house because the door connecting the garage to the house locked when Dickson pulled it shut.

Forced to sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT days and survive on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the homeowner's insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish.

Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all have this kind of anguish

* FOURTH PLACE *
Jerry Williams, of Little Rock, Arkansas, garnered 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt by his next door neighbour’s

beagle - even though the beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because the jury believed the beagle might have been provoked

at the time of the butt bite because Williams had climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly shot the dog with a pellet gun.

* THIRD PLACE *
Amber Carson of Lancaster, Pennsylvania because a jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and broke her tailbone.

The reason the soft drink was on the floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument.

*SECOND PLACE*
Kara Walton, of Claymont , Delaware sued the owner of a night club in a nearby city because she fell from the bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two front teeth.

Even though Ms. Walton was trying to sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying the $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club had to pay her $12,000....oh, yeah, plus dental expenses. Go figure.

* FIRST PLACE *
This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was: Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , who purchased new 32-foot Winnebago motor home.

On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the

Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not

putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set. The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down?

$1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just in case Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.

Democrats Are Plotting A Direct Response To The Supreme Court's Obamacare Decision

Democrats are plotting a direct challenge to the Supreme Court's Affordable Care Act-related decision last week, planning to introduce legislation Wednesday that would usurp the ruling.

Led by the conservative justices, the high court ruled last week that closely held for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby, could be exempt from covering emergency contraceptives under the Affordable Care Act based on religious exemptions. In the wake of the decision, a furious Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed Democrats would act soon.

On Wednesday, Sens. Patty Murray (D-Washington) and Mark Udall (D-Colorado) will introduce the bill, which would bar for-profit companies from declining coverage on any federally guaranteed health services for religious reasons. That includes the 20 forms of contraception detailed in the Affordable Care Act, according to a summary of the bill provided to Business Insider.
