Resume:
Delmar - A crash yesterday evening left one Delmar resident dead and two Delmar residents injured.

The crash happened at 6:32 p.m. as Lisa A. Hicks, 45, drove a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt in the westbound lane of Pepperbox Road. As the vehicle approached Brittingham Road, it failed to negotiate the roadway's curve to the right, and exited the south edge of the roadway.

The vehicle briefly traveled westward in a drainage ditch along the south side of Pepperbox Road before striking a driveway culvert. This impact catapulted the vehicle, causing it to overturn several times before coming to rest, upright, in the intersection of Pepperbox and Brittingham Roads.

Lisa A. Hicks, who was properly restrained, was flown to Christiana Hospital where she was admitted in Critical Condition. Mindy L. Hicks, 27, who was the front seat passenger in the vehicle, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation suggests that she was properly restrained at the time of the crash. The rear passenger, Ernest R. Doney, 32, was not properly restrained and was ejected from the vehicle, landing in a grassy area. He was transported by ambulance to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where he was admitted in serious condition.

Pepperbox Road was closed for approximately three hours as Troopers investigated and cleared this crash. The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation.

Everyone should drive down Pepperbox road just to check out how dangerous it is.In less than the first 1/2 mile you will encounter the first indicator of how an accident can occur.

The problem on Pepperbox Rd and many other back roads is people drive too fast...if you are not doing at least 60 they run right up on you and seem mad that you are only doing 50. And there are no speed limit signs so I guess that means drive 70 if you want. And with no law enforcement around its a virtual speedway. I'm really surprised the are not more bad accidents.
