Three Cats Shot Three Times Each In Hunters Mill

On Saturday, October 22cnd, in the morning two cats were let out, 30 minutes later both cats came back shot 3 times each. Later that night, two houses were attempted to be broken into.

This happened in Hunters Mill, animal lovers should be aware. A police report has been made, but asked not to be told.

No one shoots a cat three times each to protect themselves...............

Publishers Notes: I received this information earlier today and thought it might be best to put this up as a top post for all to be aware. There seems to be quite a problem with people shooting and or attempting to shot animals in the Rockawalkin area. We have been told these animals will more than likely have to be put down.

80 YEARS LATER - SAME CULPRITS, SAME RAGE

The young man stands on the edge of his porch
The days were short and the father was gone
There was no one in the town and no one in the field
This dusty barren land had given all it could yield

I’ve been kicked off my land at the age of sixteen
And I have no idea where else my heart could have been
I placed all my trust at the foot of this hill
And now I am sure my heart can never be still
So collect your courage and collect your horse
And pray you never feel this same kind of remorse

The song from Mumford & Sons called Dust Bowl Dance is as pertinent to today as it was in describing the Great Depression.   I was taken by the lyrics and the rage in the song. The setting for the song is the Dust Bowl of the 1930′s in the US Midwest. Picture the Joads in Grapes of Wrath. As I listened to the song again this morning I was struck by the similarities between the time period described in the song and our present situation.

Labeling Tantrums A Mental Illness Doesn't help

In the winter of 2010, there was a lot of talk in the news (and I wrote an Op-Ed in The Boston Globe, "Warning label on new diagnosis") about a proposed new diagnosis for children, then called temper dysregulation disorder with dysphoria, or TDD. The committee that is assigned the task of creating the new DSM-V, the diagnostic manual for mental health, got a lot of flak, so now they have changed the name todisruptive mood dysregulation disorder, or DMDD.

Will Ruling On Tasers Change Police Procedure?

In 2007, a University of Florida undergraduate created a rallying cry when he pleaded with a police officer, “Don’t tase me, bro.” Now, a powerful federal appeals court in California has given support to the anti-Taser movement. The court ruled last week, in a case involving a pregnant woman pulled over for speeding, that using Taser stun guns on civilians can in some circumstances be unconstitutional. The ruling, although not a complete win for tasered civilians, should prompt police across the country to rethink when and how they use Tasers — and to use them less.

We Pay More to Drive Than We Spend On Taxes

By the time the costs of gas, insurance, tolls, parking, and car payments are added up, the average American family spends more on driving than on health insurance or taxes. Occupiers Have To Convince The Other 99 Percent

The occupation movement’s greatest challenge will be overcoming the deep distrust of white liberals by the poor and the working class, especially people of color. Marginalized people of color have been organizing, protesting and suffering for years with little help or even acknowledgment from the white liberal class. With some justification, those who live in these marginalized communities often view this movement as one dominated by white sons and daughters of the middle class who began to decry police abuse and the lack of economic opportunities only after they and their families were affected.

This distrust is not the fault of the movement, which has instituted measures within its decision-making process to make sure marginalized voices are heard before white males. It is the fault of a bankrupt liberal class that for decades has abandoned the core issue of economic justice for the poor and the working class and busied itself with the vain and self-referential pursuits of multiculturalism and identity politics.

PIO Officer Of Wicomico County To Retire In January

Salisbury News learned last week that PIO Officer Jim Fineran will retire his position in January of 2012. I was able to have a very pleasant conversation with Jim moments ago and he has in fact confirmed that he is vested with the County in January after 5 years and being in his mid 70's he's decided to stop punching a clock and spend more time with his Family. He stated he is not leaving/retiring for another job. Jim went on to say it's been great and he truly enjoyed his job.

In speaking to some other county officials I have learned Jim will enjoy around a $6,000.00 a year retirement salary with an 85% health insurance plan as well.

Free Stuff

Class warfare put in simple terms.

The folks who are getting the free stuff don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff,

because the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff.

And, the folks who are paying for the free stuff want the free stuff to stop.

And the folks who are getting the free stuff want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting!

Now... the people who are forcing the people who pay for the free stuff have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff that the people who are PAYING for the free stuff are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.

So... the people who are GETTING the free stuff have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff and giving them the free stuff in the first place.

We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.

Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason?

The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.

The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 231 years ago. The number of people now getting free stuff outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff. We have one chance to change that in 2012. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it.

Stupid People Do Stupid Things

Really stupid people repeat the same failed process over and over ad infinitum. Please pay attention, Dr. Chu! Einstein said it was the proof of insanity.

Case in point is the Obama administration's solar power loan guarantee program. Not one of the loans made since 2009 have proven successful. The most costly failure, as of now, is Solyndra at $535 million. After Solyndra received its loan it laid off 1100 workers and filed for bankruptcy, in which it had the government (Department of Energy) restructure the loan to put the taxpayers behind the bus, losing US taxpayers $535 million.

Before that, Spectrawatt went belly up and we lost $500,000. Spectrawatt was one of 13 companies given grants. How many are still in business is anyone's guess. We can't even find a list on the Internet.

Fill In The Blank 10-24-11

My most memorable experience was ______.

Ron Paul: Buchanan Or Reagan?

If he's lucky, Ron Paul could be the Pat Buchanan of 2012. Pat Buchanan's spirited 1996 campaign could provide a blueprint for Ron Paul in 2012 ... Right-wing pundit Pat Buchanan is back in the news ... I've spent two years trailing Pat, writing the biography of a man whose life I think best summarises the history of the American conservative movement: speechwriter for Nixon and Reagan, instigator of the culture war and (some people believe) inspiration to Sarah Palin. This week he launched a new book called Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive Until 2025? It's a stunning Jeremiad on America's decline, written with characteristic muscle and wit. Pat's opinion matters because he ran for the presidency three times and, in 1996, won the New Hampshire Republican primary. His story offers some clues on how the 2012 GOP contest might play out – and the news is particularly good for Ron Paul. – UK Telegraph/ Tim Stanley

School Administrator Arrested after Theft Investigation

Location: Harry O. Eisenberg Elementary School, 27 Landers Lane, New Castle, DE
Date of Occurrence: Sunday, March 1, 2009 through Wednesday, August 31, 2011
Defendant and Charges:
-Jacob J. Getty, Jr., 43, Wilmington, DE
-Theft over $1500.00 (4 counts)
-Theft under $1500 (2 counts)
-Arraigned at JP Court 11 and released on $12,000.00 unsecured bail.
Resume
New Castle, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested the principal of a New Castle elementary school after it was learned that he had stolen thousands of dollars from school fund raising events as well as the school’s PTA.
The investigation began on October 3, 2011 after state police were contacted by the administrative offices of the Colonial School District who reported that it was suspected that the principal of the Harry O. Eisenberg Elementary School, Jacob J. Getty, Jr., had misappropriated funds from several book fairs held at the school beginning in 2009. The investigation also revealed that Getty had written numerous checks to himself from the school Parent Teacher Association (PTA) account for his personal use.
During the investigation it was learned that beginning in April of 2009, Jacob Getty, who had control of the Eisenberg Elementary PTA check book, had written 11 pre-signed checks totaling over $4000.00 to himself. Getty then used the money stolen from the PTA not only for himself, but to pay for a bill owed to a fund raising company from a book fair that had been held at the school in the spring of 2009. Getty had kept the money raised from the book fair and then paid the bill with the stolen PTA funds after being confronted about it in the fall of 2009. It was then learned that Jacob Getty has also kept the money raised during a fund raising event held at the school in September of 2010 and two others in May of 2011. In total Jacob Getty stole over $18,000.00 from both the school PTA and the fund raisers held at the school.
The Delaware State Police obtained warrants on Jacob Getty for the above list of crimes. He was arrested on Sunday, October 23, after turning himself in at Troop 6. Getty was then arraigned at JP Court 11 and released on $12,000.00 unsecured bail.
Please direct any inquiries in reference to Jacob Getty’s employment status to the Colonial School District administrative offices.

Have Corporate Media Warmed To Occupy Wall Street?

Media coverage of the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protests started out exactly as one might expect. There was little coverage at first (FAIR Action Alert, 9/23/11), and as it expanded, much of it consisted of snide dismissals of demonstrators'' ignorance, hygiene and so on.

But then something happened. Following incidents of police abuse, including the unprovoked pepper-spraying of several demonstrators on September 24, media coverage began to pick up (FAIR Activism Update, 9/29/11).NPR executive editor Dick Meyer explained that the protests were not covered early on because they "did not involve large numbers of people, prominent people, a great disruption or an especially clear objective." But within a day or so, NPR was covering the protests, as was the rest of the media.

Soon the actions were being treated as front-page, top-of-the-newscast material. Consider this Brian Williams introduction at the top of the October 5 NBC Nightly News:

We begin tonight with what has become by any measure a pretty massive protest movement. While it goes by the official name Occupy Wall Street, it has spread steadily and far beyond Wall Street, and it could well turn out to be the protest of this current era. The lyric from 45 years ago in the Buffalo Springfield song "For What It's Worth" could also describe this current movement right now. Once again, there is something happening here. What it is ain't exactly clear, but it encompasses a lot of things: anger, frustration, disenfranchisement, income disparity, unaccountability and general upheaval and dissatisfaction.

"It helps [Romney] to attach himself to a very popular Governor such as Bob McDonnell, who might be considered for a vice presidential nomination next year," says George Mason University Public Policy Professor Mark Rozell.

Texas Prisons Cut Lunch To Save Money

Texas prisons are scaling back meals on weekends to cut costs – a move that could leave inmate blood sugar levels low and tempers high.
Thirty-six prisons are cutting lunches on Saturdays and Sundays, forcing some 23,000 inmates to cram three-meals-worth of calories into an early breakfast and dinner, the New York Times reported. The cutbacks are part of a broader effort to save $2.8 million in food-related expenses, but some nutritionists are crying foul.

Kill The Rich

This is a great reality check of the spending problem in America. It clarifies the magnitude of just how much we spend, IN JUST ONE YEAR. It graphically demonstrates how taking ALL the profits, salaries, assets, income, every penny, of the "rich" - group by group impacts on the federal budget. At the end, everything has been confiscated and the deficit is far from solved. I urge you to take a few minutes to watch and then pass it on. Let's make it go viral.

Does The New iPhone's "Siri" Make Texting While Driving Legit?

When Apple introduced its new iPhone 4S earlier this month, tech analysts raved about the phone’s voice-activated personal assistant, nicknamed “Siri.” One thing they loved was how Siri can be used to dictate text messages without typing — or read incoming texts aloud — a convenience that seemed perfect for life behind a steering wheel. “Big news for drivers,” declared The New York Times’ David Pogue. The Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg noted that he’d had success using Siri to dictate e-mails and text messages in the car.

There’s just one problem. Texting while driving is illegal in dozens of states. And while some states have written their laws to allow for hands-free use of emerging voice-activated texting technologies, many others haven’t

Schools Fear Worst Budget Cuts Ahead

Educators across America are bracing for a tough reality. Even in a best-case scenario that assumes strong economic growth next year, it won't be until 2013 or later when districts see budget levels return to pre-recession levels -- and that means more cuts and layoffs are likely.

SEARCH ENDS FOR MISSING BALTIMORE CO. MAN AFTER APPARENT SUICIDE IN WEST VIRGINIA

(BALDWIN, MD) – Maryland State Police have ended the more than two-week search for a missing Baltimore County man after he was found yesterday in West Virginia, the victim of an apparent suicide.

The man is identified as Michael Diffenderffer, 52, of the 12000-block of Fork Road, Baldwin, MD.  He had been reported missing to Maryland State Police at the Bel Air Barrack late on October 5, 2011.  His wife told troopers when she made the report that her husband had left her a note stating he was out, but would home for dinner that night.  He did not return.

For more than two weeks, Maryland State Police had conducted an extensive search for Diffenderffer.  Troopers had enlisted the assistance of multiple units within the State Police, as well as that of multiple other state and local police agencies in the region.

Maryland State Police at the Bel Air Barrack were contacted about noon yesterday by West Virginia State Police, who reported they had found the body of a man tentatively identified as Diffenderffer.  West Virginia troopers were called to Milo School Road in Morgan County after receiving a call from citizen who reported an abandoned vehicle on the property of a private hunting club.

Troopers found the body of Diffenderffer in his 2005 Acura MDX, along with two empty pill bottles.  There were no signs of foul play.

Delaware Transit Corporation Executive Director Leaving Agency For Position In New York

Dover -- Stephen Kingsberry, Executive Director of the Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC), will be leaving his post on October 31, 2011 to assume the position of Deputy Director for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

DTC operates as DART First State, providing Fixed Route bus, Paratransit, RideShare statewide, and state-funded commuter rail service under contract with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).

Kingsberry served as DTC's Executive Director since 2005, after joining the agency in 1999 as Development Director. He served previously with New York's Metropolitan Transit Administration and New Jersey Transit.

Secretary of Transportation Shailen Bhatt, stated, "Stephen Kingsberry has been a tireless advocate for expanded transit service in the state of Delaware and is to be commended for his service to transit riders statewide. On his watch, annual ridership grew from 9.2 million to over 12 million, including more than 1.15 million commuter rail trips. This represents an increase of more than thirty percent."

"His efforts introduced Sunday service in New Castle County, Saturday service in Kent County and weekday buses to Delaware City for the first time in over 40 years, despite repeated years of budget challenges," Bhatt said. "He also oversaw significant investments in transit infrastructure while serving as Executive Director, including creation of several new bus hubs and a service facility."

Kingsberry said that the decision to accept a position with the Port Authority was not an easy one. "It is difficult to leave DART whose employees have become like my Delaware family," he said. "However, knowing that Secretary Bhatt is strongly committed to transit and other forms of alternative transportation, I am confident they will continue to make progress in providing convenient, efficient transit services that meet the growing needs of customers."

Bhatt indicated a national search is underway to replace Kingsberry. John McGinnis, current Director of Operations, will serve as Acting Director until a new Executive Director is named.
