Dear Lord, What A Day

Hey Joe,

Don't know if you remember, but awhile back you helped a young couple with handicapped child (Brody) to get the childs first haircut, in his home, for free.  Well, early yesterday morning Brody passed away.

Of all things, I was sitting around yesterday thinking about this beautiful child, wondering when he might need his next haircut. His Parents are beautiful people who so loved this child and to my dear friend Cindy, (Grandma) if there's anything I/we can do don't hesitate to ask.

God has taken two beautiful children in the past couple of days. I am comforted in knowing my Mother has them on her knees singing to them and bouncing them up and down with smiles on every one's faces.

Giant Corporate Says No To Salisbury Salvation Army Bell Ringers

While the General Manager desperately tried to convince Giant Corporate Offices to make an exception to the ALL Volunteer Bell Ringers here in Salisbury, Corporate has said, NO.

As I'm sure many of you know, the Giant location played a huge role in the SA's annual success and this will hurt deeply. Rather than allowing the SA to ring 6 days a week, Giant will only allow somewhere near 4 days for few hours for the entire season.

I'm told the Hallmark Store right next to Giant will allow Bell Ringers there instead, so please make the effort to stop by and make a donation.

Short $9K, Barry Blames Giant For Turkey Giveaway Delay

D.C. Councilman Marion Barry’s annual turkey giveaway has been delayed a day, and the former mayor is blaming Giant’s “corporate inflexibility.”

Barry failed to pay the grocery store $26,000 for 2,000 turkeys by Monday, and Giant refused to accept the councilman’s assurance that he would have the rest of the money this week. According to Barry’s office, $17,000 of the funds had been raised and received.

So all those who went to Union Temple Baptist Church in Anacostia looking for a free bird Tuesday morning, it was a wasted trip.

“First of all, I must apologize to the Ward 8 community for Giant’s failure to provide timely support to the community,” Barry said in a statement from his office. “It’s simply pathetic and incomprehensible to me that a multi-billion dollar corporation, like Giant, would take a position that would deprive children, seniors and other adults of food for the Thanksgiving holiday.”

Kevin Adams Responds To Mayor Ireton's Letter

To: Mayor Jim Ireton:

I read with interest, on this news site, your public response to our encounter at Flavors last Friday. I want to thank you for being such a gentleman, Jim. Perhaps you’re right. We should meet in an appropriate professional environment. I’d love to take you up your public invitation to discuss my concerns about the way you handle politics in Salisbury. The previous mayor also had an open door policy of which I partook. Consider this letter my “written request” to meet with you.

In a private setting, we could surely clarify the part of our “unfortunate encounter” in which you said I spoke unintelligibly. Or, you could elaborate on what you meant when you promised to resolve your issues with SAPOA President Kris Adams by January 1. As you recall, I ”strongly suggested” when we spoke at the bar, that January 1 isn’t soon enough for me; a simple apology shouldn’t take that long. Regardless, I look forward to hearing you out on how you plan to make things right.

Aggression does not have a place in public office. That’s why I specifically sought you out at the bar where you are known to frequent. I agree, a bar is not the best place for a local citizen to have to track down his mayor to express his political grievances. (What was I thinking?) As I am anxious to meet with you, I hope this letter finds you soon so that you aren’t surprised when I arrive at your office. Sometime after the Thanksgiving holidays would suit my schedule. Thanks again for reaching out. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Sincerely

Kevin Adams

One More Day!

Getting called in almost every day is a real pain in the butt. However, this morning had a case in which I not only reported on, I knew the Officers involved. I was dismissed and headed home just in time to keep Posts going without any delay.

Tomorrow ends my two weeks of service and with any luck they won't have any trials before the holiday.

SAPOA President Tells Mayor To Keep Her Out Of It

FDIC Says List Of ‘Problem’ Banks Has Grown

Banking industry income overall falls, but still much higher than last year

The number of banks on the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.'s confidential "problem" list grew over the summer even while the overall industry posted solid net income.

The FDIC says its list of troubled banks rose to 860 in the July-September quarter from 829 in the previous quarter.
At the sa
me time, the FDIC says banks earned $14.5 billion during the third quarter. That was a decrease from the previous quarter's result of $21.4 billion, but well above the $2 billion banks earned a year earlier.

The FDIC says banks set aside less money to cover future loan losses than at any time since the October-December quarter of 2007, before the financial crisis. Fewer borrowers were behind on payments for credit cards and construction loans.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY ON THE ADDITION OF NEARLY 6,000 JOBS IN MARYLAND LAST MONTH

ANNAPOLIS, MD (November 23, 2010) – Governor Martin O’Malley issued this statement today on the addition of 5,900 jobs in Maryland for October.  This represents the largest year-to-date jobs gain in Maryland since 2000, as Maryland continues to outpace the rest of the nation, adding jobs at more than twice the rate of other states.

“Today’s announcement is another positive sign for families and businesses in our State.  Since January, as many other states have struggled to come through this national recession, Maryland employers have added 40,600 jobs to the payrolls.”

MAN ARRESTED FOR INTENTIONALLY ATTEMPTING TO RUN OVER CITIZENS WITH VEHICLE

On November 21, 2010, at approximately 9 p.m., Ocean City Police officers responded to Pickles Pub (711 Philadelphia Avenue) for a reported hit and run vehicle collision involving a pedestrian who sustained injuries. Police determined the suspect, later identified as Alan Phillip Flynn, 32, of Ocean City, allegedly became intoxicated while in Pickles Pub and was asked by the establishment’s management to leave. Flynn then allegedly spat on an employee and the victim. The victim and bar employee followed Flynn outside where Flynn entered a vehicle parked across the street. Witnesses related Flynn intentionally drove his vehicle at and struck the victim. The vehicle also hit a tree. Flynn fled the scene. OCPD broadcast a lookout for the vehicle being driven by Flynn, which was subsequently located unoccupied by a Worcester Sheriff's Deputyin West Ocean City. While officers were at Pickles Pub conducting witness and victim interviews, Flynn returned to the scene in a taxi cab. When Flynn saw the police, he attempted to flee the area in the cab. The taxi stopped a half block away and Flynn jumped out of the cab. He attempted to flee on foot. After a short foot pursuit Flynn attempted to hide in a crawl space underneath an 8th Street apartment building. With assistance of Maryland State Police and Berlin Police K-9 officers, Flynn surrendered to the OCPD. Flynn was arrested and taken to Atlantic General Hospital with a possible knee injury he sustained while fleeing from police. He was treated and released to police custody. Flynn is charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault along with multiple traffic-related charges including DUI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident as well as fleeing and eluding police. The victim was transported to Atlantic General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, treated and released. Flynn was seen by an Ocean City District Court Commissioner and held on $10,000 bond. He was transferred to the Worcester County Jail.

While you may contribute donations to any Bank of Ocean City branch, we ask you not to bring food to the Department or the bank. It truly is what Christmas is all about.” In addition to donations, the Ocean City Police Department is looking for volunteers. Those who volunteer will be assisting participants with the collection of toys and food on the day of the distribution. The Ocean City Police Department asks that all donations be made by Thursday, December 16. Distribution will take place on Saturday, December 18, promptly at 9 a.m. The OCPD Public Affairs Office will begin taking names of volunteers and participants on November 29. Today's Survey Question

Should NYC Mosque Project Get Federal Funds?

A Letter To The Editor

Joe:

Beaucoup kudos on your efforts to get Salisbury out of the briar patch, again, at last night’s meeting. The continuing "firehouse fiasco" is unbelievable, except that it’s for real. They should sell it to whoever makes the highest offer (but for at least the price that you offered to pay - $250,000) or do a public auction. That proposed deal to sell it for $100,000 is ridiculous.

You and that lady from SAPOA put Ireton right where he belongs, in the crapper. He’s a bad joke that’s getting worse every day. I voted for him last year, and for the last time.

I’m becoming tired of listening to Ms. Cohen and Ms. Campbell, who seem to make an issue out of everything to get face time on PAC14. Then they often cave – like waiving the liens on that property to please Habitat for Humanity. And I gave up on the "3 stooges" long ago.

Keep up the good work because we need to clean house in City Hall ASAP. It’s as bad as it was with Barrie and the "Dream Team," and maybe even worse.

OGLESBY REFLECTS ON ELECTION

Today, the Board of Elections tallied the final few ballots and certified the election results for the Worcester County States Attorney race. With that certification, I am the State’s Attorney Elect and it is now appropriate for me to reflect on the extraordinary journey that began many years ago.

I am both grateful and sincerely humbled by the incredible encouragement and support the campaign received from the many volunteers who gave their time, energy and resources on the promise that their hard work and dedication would help usher in a new era of accountability in Worcester County. There are many who have supported my candidacy for over eight years. These individuals and their unwavering faith in my ability were the pillars of strength for my campaign.

We knew when we began this campaign that the road toward achieving our goals would be crowded with contention. What now remains of political partisanship must be placed aside. Mr. Todd has spent twenty five years serving the people of Worcester County and rightfully deserves our praise and appreciation. His hard work has helped pave the way for the future we must now build together. The time for new ideas, new directions, and bold initiatives has arrived.

To the voters of Worcester County who were not yet ready to cast their votes for me in this election, I promise to spend the next four years dedicating myself to the unwavering principles of fairness and justice so that I may earn your trust. To the voters who elected me, thank you for your confidence in my ability to protect the values which have helped shape our great community.

With the trust and confidence of law enforcement, there has never been a better time to serve Worcester County. With your continued prayers and support, the Office of the State’s Attorney will protect the present and safeguard the future by bringing accountability to our community.

With appreciation,
Beau H. Oglesby
State’s Attorney Elect
Worcester County, Maryland

Mayor Ireton Cancels Council President Smith's "Issues & Answers” Show On PAC 14

Holiday Events – This week the City of Salisbury will be hosting the Tree Lighting Ceremony from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26th on the Government Office Building steps. Salisbury’s Winter Wonderland of Lights in City Park will be lit Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 6pm, and will continue to be lit every day from dusk to midnight, through January 2, 2011. Following the event at the park, the marina & docks around Brew River will host the Boat Parade. “Issues & Answers” Statement – “City Taxpayers appreciate my having department heads on the job, not on 30 minute commercials for Mrs. Smith’s re-election campaign. Mrs. Smith has repeatedly shown an unwillingness to work for legislative initiatives, such as Safe Streets legislation, that would help our departments make Salisbury safer and more efficient. These employees work for the executive branch, not the legislative branch,” said Mayor Ireton. The Mayor wishes the community a safe and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday and invites the public for the Community Tree Lighting on Friday, Nov. 26th and the Winter Wonderland opening on Nov. 27th.

By Ending Earmarks, Congress Can Show It's Not A Game Show

Want to know what's wrong with Congress?

Just read what Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., told The Examiner's Susan Ferrechio about the prospect of an earmark-free world:

"What's the role of a member of Congress then? Should we just go home after we cast the vote for speaker?"

Rahall speaks as though he's not in Congress at all, but instead on the set of a 1960s game show in which he has 60 seconds to stuff his shopping cart with as many items as possible from the federal Treasury.

Unfortunately, our Founding Fathers did not have "Supermarket Sweep" in mind when they wrote the Constitution. Nor did they expect to see "The Price is Right," the game of selling earmarks for bribes that landed former Republican Rep. Duke Cunningham in federal prison.

Nor could they have expected the House and Senate chambers to become the set of "Let's Make a Deal," in which multiple earmarks are traded for "yes" votes on Obamacare and other bad legislation.

Israeli General: Iran Has Equipped Proxy's Rockets With Guidance Systems

Iran has significantly enhanced its rocket arsenal.

Officials and analysts said Iran and its allies in the Middle East have converted their unguided rockets into guided weapons. They said the conversion has transformed the rocket arsenals of Hamas, Hizbullah, Iran and Syria from what was termed a terror threat to a military threat.

"We are facing a significant leap in the projectile capability," Brig. Gen. Doron Gavish, chief of the Air Defense Command, said.

At an aerospace conference on Nov. 15, Gavish and leading defense executives and analysts asserted that Iran was converting its Scud-based missile and rocket arsenal into precision weapons, Middle East Newsline reported. They said the effort was facilitated by the availability of navigation and guidance systems based on the U.S.-based Global Positioning System and Glonass, the Russian acronym for GLObal NAvigation Satellite System.

"The enemy has achieved aerial supremacy without even having aircraft," Uzi Rubin, former head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, said.

Rubin, regarded as a leading consultant on ballistic missiles, cited Iran's new rockets, which have been exported to Hizbullah and Syria. He said Iran's Fateh-110 rocket, with an enhanced range of 300 kilometers, has become fully-guided.

"There is guidance from launch, maybe throughout the entire flight," Rubin said.

As a result, officials and analysts said, Iran's new rockets could have a circle error of probability of up to 200 meters at a range of 90 kilometers. They said this would enable Hizbullah and Syria to strike Israeli critical facilities with dozens rather than hundreds of rockets.

Syria was also said to have been enhancing its Scud-D ballistic missile, tipped with a chemical warhead. Rubin said Syria, with technology from Iran and its allies, was believed to have reduced the Scud-D's circle error of probability from several kilometers to several hundred meters.

Some States Weigh Unthinkable Option: Ending Medicaid

Huge budget shortfalls are prompting a handful of states to begin discussing a once-unthinkable scenario: dropping out of the Medicaid insurance program for the poor.

Elected and appointed officials in nearly a half-dozen states, including Washington, Texas and South Carolina, have publicly thrown out the idea. Wyoming and Nevada this year produced detailed studies of what would happen should they withdraw from the program. Wyoming found that Medicaid accounts for 63% of the state's nursing-home revenue.

The idea of abandoning Medicaid as a solution is so extreme that even proponents don't expect any state will follow through, but officials are floating the discussions because dire budgetary pressures have forced them to at least look at even the most drastic options.

Medicaid, begun in 1965 and jointly funded by federal and state dollars, is the nexus of care for the neediest Americans, and a huge payer to hospitals, nursing homes and doctors. Medicaid enrollment totaled 62 million nationwide in 2007, the most recent data available.

But Medicaid has become one of the biggest items on state budgets, and states complain they don't have enough flexibility to pare it without losing their federal matching funds. The federal government, on average, covers 57% of the cost of the program for states. In exchange, states must keep Medicaid open to all who qualify.

Some states, in particular those led by Republicans, are calculating whether they'd be better off giving up the federal funding and replacing Medicaid with a narrower program of their own. Texas Gov. Rick Perry has proposed that his state get out of Medicaid in favor of a state-run system unburdened by federal mandates—including the one that prohibits states from reducing eligibility for the program if they want to qualify for the federal matching funds.

"We feel very comfortable that we could come up with a more equitable, a more efficient, and obviously a more cost-effective way to deliver health care," he said.

Boehner Baits Gibbs With Twitter Question On Earmark Moratorium

Presumptive House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) seized an opportunity to direct attention to the earmark debate on Monday when he participated in a Twitter Q&A session sponsored by the White House.

The Q&A, known as "First Question" and meant to connect everyday Twitter users with Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs, has avoided heady political conflicts since it premiered on Oct. 28.

Boehner, who is one of the first politicians to participate, ignored that premise on Monday when he chose to highlight the split between President Obama and congressional Democrats on earmarks.

"If POTUS supports an 'outright ban' on earmarks," Boehner asked Gibbs, "will he call on Leaders Pelosi and Reid to do the same?"

The message was widely retweeted by congressional Republicans, and prompted Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.) to remark "Good for the goose."

Ground Zero Mosque Developers Seek $5 Million Federal Grant

Developers of the Park51 Islamic community center and mosque, which has come to be known as the "ground zero mosque” two blocks from the site for the World Trade Center in New York City, appear to be tone deaf to the groundswell of opposition to the project. They have applied for about $5 million in federal grant money allocated for the redevelopment of lower Manhattan after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, according to The Daily Beast, quoting what it described as two knowledgeable sources.

“The audacious move stands to reignite the embers of a divisive debate that dominated headlines surrounding the ninth anniversary of the attacks this fall, say people vested in the issue,” the news service states.

GOP Gears Up To Challenge DREAM Act

Senate Republicans and their conservative allies are building their opposition to the proposed DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) Act. The act establishes a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants. Conservatives don’t like it, saying it gives “amnesty” to millions of illegal immigrants, including criminals, Politico reports.

The legislation deals with undocumented immigrants who came to this country as kids. The issue had been pushed to the backburner in the lame-duck session. But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are pressing for a vote on the act this year.

Order Blocking Okla. Islamic Law Measure Extended

A federal judge on Monday said she would rule by the end of the month on a lawsuit challenging an Oklahoma constitutional amendment that would prohibit state courts from considering international or Islamic law when deciding cases.

U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LeGrange extended a restraining order blocking enforcement of the new law until Nov. 29 during a hearing in the case.

Muneer Awad, the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Oklahoma, is suing to block the law from taking effect. It was approved in a referendum by 70 percent of Oklahoma voters on the Nov. 2 ballot.

Awad contends that the ban on Islamic law, also known as Sharia Law, would likely affect every aspect of his life as well as the execution of his will after his death.

"Sharia definitely encompasses how to live my life," Awad said in court. "Everything I do can be defined as Sharia. I have to believe that everything I do is going to be forbidden from the courts."

Awad said he will likely have to rewrite his will if the amendment is allowed to take effect. He also said his faith will be demonized in the Oklahoma Constitution because it is the only one specifically mentioned in the measure.

"All I see when I see this amendment is the state condemnation of my faith," he said.

Awad said he has received e-mail, letters and phone calls attacking his faith since he filed a lawsuit on Nov. 4 to prevent the state Election Board from certifying the referendum's results.

RSC Update

The Democrats’ lame duck majority began with a whimper last week, but it will almost certainly try to go out with a bang when Congress returns to Washington on November 29. The Presidential Deficit Commission’s recommendations and the Pentagon’s study on repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” will both be released that week, and Democrats have stated intentions to move forward on both while they still have sizable majorities in Congress.

In the House, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) announced last week that Democrats will hold a vote on legislation ensuring that taxes go up next year for many families and small businesses. And while no announcement has officially been made on spending, the outgoing majority is pushing for a massive omnibus bill instead of a short-term funding measure.

The choice Americans made on Election Day should not be overruled by a lame duck majority on the brink of losing its stranglehold on Washington. I will continue to fight for a lame duck session that simply keeps anyone’s taxes from going up, passes a short-term funding bill to pave the way for a sensible budget next year, and hands the gavel over to the next Congress.

On a concluding note, I hope you and your family enjoy a blessing-filled Thanksgiving. Many in our Armed Forces will spend this holiday season far from home. For their sacrifices, we are forever thankful.

Sincerely,

Congressman Tom Price, M.D.

Chairman, Republican Study Committee

U.N. Health Agency Urges Countries To ‘Adjust’ And Strengthen Their Health Care Financing

The United Nations on Monday offered all nations, rich and poor, some "practical guidance" on financing health care. The tips include "efficient tax collection" and having richer countries donate a percentage of their gross domestic product to a "development assistance" fund.

“No one in need of health care should have to risk financial ruin as a result," said Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of WHO. “We encourage every country to act on this (report) and do at least one thing to improve health financing and increase health coverage over the coming year.”

The report, which relies on “evidence from all over the world,” advises countries how to “adjust” their health care financing so more people, especially those in low- and middle-income countries, get the health care they need.

In the Nov. 22 news release announcing its World Health Report, WHO never mentions the United States by name, but there is an indirect reference:  According to WHO, “In countries that depend heavily on people paying directly for services at the point of delivery, health bills push 100 million people into poverty each year.” That describes the U.S. health delivery system, pre-Obamacare.

WHO’s report specifically highlights three key areas where “change can happen,” including raising more money for health; raising money more fairly; and spending it more efficiently.

Holiday Tips

The holiday season is all about family, friends, fun and feasting. But there is a much less enjoyable aspect of this time of year: an increase in crime.

During the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas, crimes such as burglary, robbery and theft all rise. The holiday season of 2009 saw a 30 percent increase in burglaries in the four weeks leading up to Christmas.

But do not be discouraged. The holidays are a time for cheer and joy. And luckily, there are some easy to follow tips to keep your home and your family safer this year.

Always lock doors and windows when you leave the house. Close curtains and blinds to prevent people from seeing into your home.

Hide brightly wrapped gifts from plain view. Keep holiday decorations and gifts in a part of your home that is not visible from the street.

Walk around the perimeter of your home. Remove any loose bricks or cinderblocks, which can be used to break glass. Also, trim bushes that could create blind spots. If you have exterior lights, make sure they are working properly.

Lock your vehicles when they are in the driveway. Vehicle break-ins are common this time of year and often involve unlocked cars. Do not leave shopping bags in plain sight, either. These full bags of merchandise are very tempting to thieves.

When you are throwing trash away after the gift wrapping is ripped off, break down boxes and try to turn them inside out. This will keep anyone from seeing just what is new in your home.

If you are going out of town this holiday season, you should not have to worry about your home’s security. Ask a neighbor to park in your driveway. Stop your newspaper and mail delivery. Put your lights and TV on timers so that they will go on and off, making it look like someone is home.

If you have an alarm system, make sure it is working properly. If you are unsure how to test your system, your alarm company can walk you through those steps, usually right over the phone.

If you do not have an alarm system and feel that it would make you feel safer this holiday season, contact one of the many local companies on the Delmarva Peninsula. That way, if someone does try to break into your home, they will be met by a nasty siren and the authorities will automatically be notified.

Do not invite anyone you do not know into your home for any reason. Even if it seems to be for a legitimate charity, be wary. Ask the solicitor questions about the organization and ask to see ID. The holidays are a great time to think of those less fortunate than ourselves, but it is also a great time for charity fraud.
Make sure that your homeowners or rental insurance is up to date. Also, insure valuable personal property such as jewelry and expensive electronics. Take pictures of these items to prove your ownership, should anything be stolen.

Often, these tips seem like common sense. And during the holiday season, everyone has so much on their minds that security sometimes falls to the wayside.

Taking the extra time to lock that upstairs window and close all the curtains can help deter crime from your home. Be alert this holiday season and make this a safe and happy time of year for everyone in your family.

Transportation In Delaware Moves Into The Digital Age

DelDOT Announces Launch of New Social Media Initiative

Dover -- As evolving communications tools continue to expand and become a driving force behind communication in the 21st Century, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is taking the leap in to the realm of social media. Today, DelDOT is launching their social media initiative, which will expand the department's ability to communicate with the public.

"We are excited about taking this next step toward creating more open and fluid lines of communication," said DelDOT Secretary Carolann Wicks. "By using social media tools like Twitter and blogs, members of the public who may not get their news through traditional sources will be able to stay informed about DelDOT and our projects."

Today, the department is launching a new DelDOT Facebook page, www.facebook.com/pages/Dover-DE/Delaware-Department-of-Transportation-DelDOT/163083853706553, which will provide another venue to get out important and timely information. In 2009, DelDOT launched their Twitter feed, @DelawareDOT, which has included information about news releases, traffic advisories, and other information. This is an especially valuable tool for those traveling throughout Delaware, especially during the holidays. DelDOT has also maintained a Flickr account, www.flickr.com/photos/delawaredot, to showcase photographs taken by staff photographer James Pernol of projects and areas throughout Delaware. DelDOT's YouTube account, www.youtube.com/DelawareDOT, showcases informational videos about numerous projects that the department has undertaken. In October, DelDOT launched DelDOT Blogs, blogs.deldot.gov, which includes project updates and other helpful information.

"By using all of these outlets, each with their own specific use," said Wicks, "we are ensuring that DelDOT will continue to provide Delaware's citizens and visitors with the information that they need to make the time that they spend traveling throughout the state a little easier."

A Letter To The Editor

Joe,

I'm sitting here watching the Salisbury City Council meeting. Where do I start?  Shields seriously needs to think about going to school to learn how to speak English.  In the beginning as they were going over accepting the agenda for the evening she clearly made several comments that were not what I would expect to hear a council person say.  In English when I hear the word "day" I know the meaning of the word.  When I hear it in the sentence that she used "da would".  Can't she say they?  Go back to what I originally said about her needing to go to school, not "back to school."

I love how Shields felt the need to make a big deal out of how many Appeals there are today and last year compared to three years ago.  Loved how Cohen corrected her on the one issue on the same topic.

$50,000 Grant  resolution 19-98:  Mr Trader, I love you!!  All of those people who have complained over the past week about the fire boat and he's the only one who spoke up (so far) during this topic.  So now this money will go towards the new vessel project instead of equipment as it originally was worded.  Makes me sick!  This is grant money, coming from us taxpayers!  Thank you Debbie for speaking up against this project!!!  Gary's living in a world only he understands.  Replacing a used fishing boat with one designed to do the work.  Did he just say the Federal Gov't Money handing out???  It's still taxpayers money.  He doesn't have a clue.  Go back to sleep Gary.  We know how much you support this, you want to go fishing next summer.  OMG Shields is speaking about fire dept procedures.  OMG everything she just mentioned is able to be reached by the trucks.  She dared to mention the WWTP in tht sentence.  Debbie, please run for mayor next time!  I love hearing you saying it's time for all to just say no to government stimulus money!!  Terry. y es Salisbury isn't taking care of their things just so they can get new toys.  I agree 100%.  Shields is speaking again, has no idea what she attended.  If you can't agree, sit and be quiet!  She only speaks up on fire dept issues.  Is she an expert?  Yes, Shields we know your supporting it.  Thank you for making it known for those out there who are sleeping.

The topic of Habitat.  Shields is so rude!  Thank you Deb for being polite about how you told her to shut up!  One of the best moments of the night (so far).  Has Gary gone to sleep now that the fire dept isn't under discussion?  I spoke too fast.  Go back to sleep Gary.  Oh no, Shields is speaking again about a property on Main St., not the one under discussion.  Go to school Shields!  Since the three-some passed it now anyone can claim they can't pay something and get away with it.  Great job three-some.

Public Comments:

Mr. Trader, amen!

Mr. Dishroom, amen!  Oh my, asking what the city owes.  They will never tell you, if so it will be a huge lie!  Amen about the vessel!

Ms. Adams, you go girl!  OMG I love it "this is a city, not a kingdom" Amen!  The council needs to remember this when buying new toys!

Mr. Davis, Amen!  I love you, always have baby!  Your right about SU.  Last year the Lions Club banquet was held there since it was the cheapest place in town for this crowd.

Mr. Albero, AMEN!  I'm waiting to hear the gavel being pounded with screaming from that direction of her closing the meeting down.  Love ya Joe, thanks for speaking up.  I'm surprised there weren't more people there to speak.  Thank you for standing up about bullying!  Now the gavel over the little boy, the mayor.  You did a great job, as always!  Please make sure tell me what that puss of a mayor said to you as you were walking away!!  It couldn't be heard on tv.

Editors Notes: I couldn't tell you what the Mayor said, I just didn't like the fact that he said something AFTER I was walking away and my back was to him. I did stop to ask and when he mumbled again I stated he may get away with that with women but he won't get away with it with me.

The next thing I knew, when I left the GOB a Police Officer pulled up while several of us were holding a conversation with Councilwoman Terry Cohen and asked us what we were doing. He told us he had received a complaint and wanted us to move on. Then another Officer pulled up and  Ireton was escorted to his vehicle.

Experts: Mystery Contrail Was From Chinese Missile

'Muted response' was decision 'made by the president himself'

Although the U.S. Defense Department and North American Aerospace Defense Command have speculated publicly that the unidentified contrail of a projectile soaring into the skies off the California coast – and recorded by a KCBS television crew – came from a jet and posed no security threat to the U.S., several experts are raising provocative and disturbing questions about the government's official response, reports Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

Two governmental military experts with extensive experience working with missiles and computer security systems have examined the television video and conclude the mysterious contrail originating some 30 miles off the coast near Los Angeles did not come from a jet – but rather, they say the exhaust and the billowing plume emanated from a single source nozzle of a missile, probably made in China.

They further suggest the missile was fired from a submerged Chinese nuclear submarine off America's coast, and point out that the timing of the alleged Chinese missile shot coincided with an increasing confrontation between the U.S. and China, and was likely meant to send a message to Washington.

Indeed, the Federal Aviation Administration documents that there were no aircraft flying in the area at that time, the night of Nov. 8.
