Swine Flu Could Strike Up To 40 Percent In 2 Years

ATLANTA – U.S. health officials say swine flu could strike up to 40 percent of Americans over the next two years and as many as several hundred thousand could die if a vaccine campaign and other measures aren't successful.

Those estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mean about twice the number of people who usually get sick in a normal flu season would be struck by swine flu. Officials said those projections would drop if a new vaccine is ready and widely available, as U.S. officials expect.

The U.S. may have as many as 160 million doses of swine flu vaccine available sometime in October, and U.S. tests of the new vaccine are to start shortly, federal officials said this week.

The infection estimates are based on a flu pandemic from 1957, which killed nearly 70,000 in the United States but was not as severe as the infamous Spanish flu pandemic of 1918-19. But influenza is notoriously hard to predict. The number of deaths and illnesses would drop if the pandemic peters out or if efforts to slow its spread are successful, said CDC spokesman Tom Skinner.

Black Officer At Scholar's Home Supports Arrest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A black police officer who was at Henry Louis Gates Jr.'s home when the black Harvard scholar was arrested says he fully supports how his white fellow officer handled the situation.

Sgt. Leon Lashley says Gates was probably tired and surprised when Sgt. James Crowley demanded identification from him as officers investigated a report of a burglary. Lashley says Gates' reaction to Crowley was "a little bit stranger than it should have been."

Asked if Gates should have been arrested, Lashley said supported Crowley "100 percent."

Gates has said he was the victim of racial profiling.

President Barack Obama says the officers "acted stupidly." Lashley called Obama's remark "unfortunate" and said he should be allowed to take it back.

Obama Says Regrets Remark In Racially Charged Case

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama said on Friday he should have chosen his words more carefully when he said police "acted stupidly" in arresting a prominent black Harvard scholar, touching off a debate over race.

Obama made his comments after talking on the telephone to Sgt. James Crowley, the Cambridge, Massachusetts, police officer who made the arrest, and discussing inviting Crowley and Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates to the White House for a beer.

"Because this has been ratcheting up and I obviously helped to contribute ratcheting it up, I wanted to make clear in my choice of words I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sgt. Crowley specifically," Obama said. "And I could have calibrated those words differently."

Stay Out Of Medicine

Mr. President:

Recent experience with my wife's medical care show the lack of knowledge, on your part, concerning medical testing. In the first instance she had fractured her right shoulder. X-rays taken at the Chester River Hospital showed the fracture and indicated it would heal normally. However, extreme pain persisted and we went to John's Hopkins. That Orthopedic Doctor insisted on new X-rays (I believe with better equipment) which revealed bone splinters and the need for total shoulder replacement.

In the second instance, after many episodes of passing out, which resulted in her falling with resultant fractures, she underwent many tests of her heart. All showed a heart beat the doctors claimed was within the normal range. She kept passing out. We then went to a Doctor Doorey who reviewed all the test results and agreed this was not normal. He ordered more tests and repeats of those done before. Guess what, the new tests revealed an extremely low heart rate and possibly a point where her heart rate actually stopped. She now has a pacemaker and no longer passes out.

Under your concept she would have likely died. Stick to the slight of hand that keeps you in the news and don't make medical decisions.

TENTATIVE IDENTIFICATIONS MADE IN HELICOPTER CRASH

(Boonsboro, MD) – Maryland State Police have made tentative identification of the four victims killed last night when their helicopter crashed along eastbound I-70 in Washington County.

The one female and three male victims are tentatively identified as:

-Kim R. Felix, 48, of the 6700-block of Balmoral Ridge, New Market, Md;

-Jeffrey D. Nordaas, 24, of the 9700-block of Owen Brown Road, Columbia, Md;

-Niall R. Y. Booth, 43, of the 6900-block of Meadowpoint Terrace, New
Market, Md;

-George H. Tutor, Jr., 39, of the 100-block of Opal Avenue, Westminster,
Md.

All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Their bodies have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsies. It is anticipated that positive identification of each of the victims will be made by the medical examiner’s office.

Further details about the cause of the crash, aircraft, origin and destination of the flight should be referred to the National Transportation Safety Board. NTSB and Federal Aviation Administration officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

A Maryland state trooper was eastbound on I-70, east of the Rt. 66 exit, shortly before 10:30 p.m. yesterday when he spotted a fire on the median along the fast lane shoulder of the interstate. He notified the Hagerstown Barracks and immediately requested fire and rescue personnel. Arriving at the scene, the trooper found the burning wreckage to be that of a helicopter.

As rescue units extinguished the fire it was determined high voltage power lines had been downed in the area. For the safety of motorists, troopers closed both east and westbound I-70. With the assistance of the State Highway Administration, detours were set up between Rt. 66 and Rt. 17. Utility workers were summoned to address the downed wires.

Due to the diligent work of rescue personnel and utility workers, the scene was cleared and declared safe for vehicular travel shortly after 5:00 a.m. today. Both east and westbound I-70 was reopened to traffic and is running smoothly.

ObamaCare Exposed at Salisbury Forum

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.George Santayana

Whether it is rationing of care, cost, or who will bear that cost in the form of taxes, history has much to teach us about the proposed Democrat takeover of our health care system. This was but one important theme discussed in Thursday evening’s health care forum sponsored by Patients First, the Maryland chapter of Americans for Prosperity and its Lower Shore chapter. Speakers at the forum included Dr. Michael Gloth of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Marc Kilmer of the Maryland Public Policy Institute, Richard Carey of Carey Distributors in Fruitland, Amy Menefee of Americans for Prosperity, Dr. John Bartkovich and Dr. Vladimir Ioffe.

While there were many items discussed at the forum, one theme that was part of Dr. Gloth’s and Mr. Kilmer’s presentations was the truly unknown cost ObamaCare. As Gloth noted, the true cost of our health care began to be hidden from the majority of Americans with the implementation of the Stabilization Act in 1942. Since then we have seen the true costs of health care obscured through private health insurance paid for by employers, Medicare and Medicaid.

As Kilmer noted, the true costs of federal health care programs NEVER cost less than what the government claims they will. In fact, they cost MUCH, MUCH MORE. As an example, we were told that Medicare would cost $9 billion in 1990. The actual cost was $67 billion; 644% MORE than originally projected. The Massachusetts plan – endorsed by people like Barack Obama and our own representative Frank Kratovil – was projected to cost $750 million this year. The true cost is over $1 billion; over 33% MORE than the taxpayers were promised. Yet, the likes of Obama, Nancy Pelosi and our own Frank Kratovil promise us a “deficit neutral” plan. How can that be when they always underestimate the costs of such programs?

Since the government cannot get a true handle on costs, and cannot run multi-trillion dollar deficits forever, how will they provide “UNIVERSAL health care”? They can’t; that is why we will see care rationed under any Democrat proposal. In the abstract this doesn’t sound too horrible. In fact, it sounds quite rational. The problem comes when you take it out of the realm of the the abstract and start to put faces and names to these government statistics.

When it is YOUR grandfather, YOUR mother, or YOU who are denied access to care because of some government bureaucrat, is ObamaCare fair? Is it rational? What about YOUR child?

The desperation coming from the left is becoming quite shrill. I have even begun to receive messages from statist acquaintances arguing that entitlements such as government run health care are equivalent to national defense. Unfortunately, these well meaning folk fail to understand that one of the purposes of our federal government is to defend us. They have always done so quite well. Sadly, with the enactment of ObamaCare we will see the greatest health care system in the world reduced to rubble while our nation’s ability to defend itself diminished as the cost of left wing entitlements continues to bankrupt our great nation.

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama,

As I gather the Sunday before Memorial Day to worship with two United Methodist congregations I pastor in Griffin, Ga., I'll think about some of your recent comments. I'll be thinking of what you told a crowd of about 2,000 in Strasbourg, Germany, as you spoke of our nation's views of Europe - "Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."

The gray, balding heads on the people who worship with me attest to their years of toil and lab or on this Earth. They are, as Jesus said, the 'salt of the Earth..' They are grandmamas and granddaddies, blue-collar folks who worked hard to build a community and raise families, to give to others when they had precious little for themselves. They continue to do these things today.

'Salt of the Earth' they are and heroes to boot. When this nation called, they answered with a resounding 'yes' and went where Uncle Sam asked them. A couple of months ago, we laid John Busbin to rest.

Like you, he visited Europe on behalf of the U.S. He beat you there by 65 years and spent his time marking and clearing mine fields, not giving speeches. Rather than being arrogant, dismissive or derisive, John partnered with the French and others to meet a common challenge. Others did the same, sailing on ships, slogging through mud, or soaring through the air because evil and tyranny were well on their way to taking over the world.

I wish you'd come May 24th and sit with these folks as we sing America the Beautiful and America. I'd like it if you could sit up front with me when Maxine Bunn and Jerry Turner do a medley of military service hymns and the veterans or spouses of deceased veterans stand when their branch's hymn is played. They grab hold of the pew in front of them to pull themselves to their feet. I know I'm in the company of giants.

I'd love for you to meet Janie Worthy and understand those tears that still glisten on her cheeks each Memorial Day Sunday.

Janie married John Pershing Botkin in August 1943. Their daughter Gail was born Aug. 10, 1944, three or four months after John shipped out to Europe. Janie, 19, went to St. Mary's, Ohio, to stay with her in-laws after Gail was born. One Sunday afternoon in early December, farm families began to call each other as the postmaster's Model A made its way down the country roads. They knew that car carried news that would shatter a family and were trying to figure out where he was headed. He stopped in front of Janie's in-laws' farmhouse. Her daddy-in-law walked out to meet him and learned that John was killed in action Nov. 11, 1944, serving with the Army in Alsace. Cpl. Botkin never saw, held, or kissed his little girl. As a father, you can empathize with Janie's salty tears.

Perhaps if you could come, you'd see why your words hurt so many so much. America may be many things, and she certainly isn't perfect, but heroes with whom I share my life have hardly been arrogant, dismissive, or derisive of Europe. They've given themselves to save Europe when Europe couldn't save itself.

So, Mr. President, get out of Washington for a weekend and take a trip down to Georgia. We'll feed you some barbecue over in Williamson, and I'll introduce you to some friends of mine, some everyday giants and some ordinary heroes.

God bless,

Herb Flanders

How Not To Reform Health Care

by Michael D. Tanner
This article appeared on National Review (Online) on June 9, 2009.

Massachusetts is widely touted as a model for health-care reform. It isn't.

As the national debate over health-care reform begins, many in Congress are looking to Massachusetts as a model for what that reform might look like. Indeed, from mandates and subsidies to some form of exchange or "connector," many of the key components of the Massachusetts reforms are likely to end up in the bill to be voted on this year.

But three years after it was voted in, experience suggests the "Massachusetts model" actually provides an object lesson in how not to reform health care. The program has failed in its main goal of achieving universal coverage. It has failed to restrain the growth in health-care costs. And it has greatly exceeded its initial budget, placing new burdens on the state's taxpayers.

The French Lesson In Health Care

The nation's system isn't quite as superb as Sicko maintains, but it's pretty good

Michael Moore's documentary Sicko trumpets France as one of the most effective providers of universal health care. His conclusions and fist-in-your-gut approach may drive some Americans up the wall. But whatever you think of Moore, the French system—a complex mix of private and public financing—offers valuable lessons for would-be health-care reformers in the U.S.

In Sicko, Moore lumps France in with the socialized systems of Britain, Canada, and Cuba. In fact, the French system is similar enough to the U.S. model that reforms based on France's experience might work in America. The French can choose their doctors and see any specialist they want. Doctors in France, many of whom are self- employed, are free to prescribe any care they deem medically necessary. "The French approach suggests it is possible to solve the problem of financing universal coverage...[without] reorganizing the entire system," says Victor G. Rodwin, professor of health policy and management at New York University.

France also demonstrates that you can deliver stellar results with this mix of public and private financing. In a recent World Health Organization health-care ranking, France came in first, while the U.S. scored 37th, slightly better than Cuba and one notch above Slovenia. France's infant death rate is 3.9 per 1,000 live births, compared with 7 in the U.S., and average life expectancy is 79.4 years, two years more than in the U.S. The country has far more hospital beds and doctors per capita than America, and far lower rates of death from diabetes and heart disease. The difference in deaths from respiratory disease, an often preventable form of mortality, is particularly striking: 31.2 per 100,000 people in France, vs. 61.5 per 100,000 in the U.S.

That's not to say the French have solved all health-care riddles. Like every other nation, France is wrestling with runaway health-care inflation. That has led to some hefty tax hikes, and France is now considering U.S.-style health-maintenance organization tactics to rein in costs. Still, some 65% of French citizens express satisfaction with their system, compared with 40% of U.S. residents. And France spends just 10.7% of its gross domestic product on health care, while the U.S. lays out 16%, more than any other nation.

Another Salisbury Fire Department Scam In The Making

Back on February 2, 2009 the Salisbury Fire Department Officials came to the City Council asking for a $90,000.00 Grant for a visibility study for Station 2. The long and short of it was, the Council majority, (with exception of Gary Comegys) voted to say NO to the Grant. The Council stated they absolutely wanted to wait until after the 2010 Budget was adopted as well as the 2010 CIP.

Last Monday night, out of nowhere, the Salisbury Fire Department openly admitted they had filed for the $90,000.00 Grant without the Council's permission, (AGAIN) and that they had received the Grant funding.

There was continued discussion about Station 2, as if this had never really been discussed before and everyone simply fell for it. Even Terry Cohen stated at one point, well, if we have the money and we're paying interest on it, we might as well do the study. I reminded her after the meeting that they had shot it down and she more or less said, I think you're right, I may have made a mistake.

No Mrs. Cohen, you were scammed. The Salisbury Fire Department has played this game for many years. However, this time the scam has been exposed and it may be back to the drawing board for the SFD.

I think the City Council better go back to their recordings and listen to ALL of the Fire Department related subjects and get their sh!t straight for once. Nice try Comegys and Gordo. YOU'VE BEEN BLOGGED!

The Truth About Premium Fuel

Fuel Grades: Can I Save Money By Going 87?

The little two-passenger smart fortwo is the most fuel-efficient car (not counting hybrids) in the U.S. market, with EPA fuel economy ratings of 33 mpg city, 41 highway. For high-mileage frugality, it appears to beat the five-passenger Toyota Yaris and its 29/35-mpg ratings by a long shot.

But wait! Premium fuel -- which cost about 12 percent more than regular at U.S. pumps last month -- is required for the smart car. Suddenly the gap closes and the Smart no longer looks like as strong of a fuel-budget buster.

Officer Rebuts Gates’ Account Of Arrest Incident

Cop says he didn’t want to take ‘such drastic action,’ but Gates ‘provoked’

The white police officer who was criticized by President Barack Obama for arresting a black Harvard professor outside his home has fired back at the president and other critics, refusing to apologize for his actions.

In an an exclusive one-on-one interview with television station WHDH that TODAY aired Friday, Sgt. James Crowley, an 11-year veteran of the Cambridge Police Department, also said he was aware when he arrested Prof. Henry Louis Gates Jr. that it would be seen as controversial and bring unwanted attention on him. But, he insisted, Gates’ aggressive behavior left the officer with no choice.

“I really didn't want to have to take such a drastic action because I knew it was going to bring a certain amount of attention, unwanted attention, on me. Nonetheless, that's how far Professor Gates pushed it and provoked and just wouldn't stop,” Crowley said.

Millions Wait For Delayed Jobless Checks

Cracks in unemployment system widen under strain of recession

WASHINGTON
- Years of state and federal neglect have hobbled the nation’s unemployment system just as a brutal recession has doubled the number of jobless Americans seeking aid.

In a program that values timeliness above all else, decisions involving more than a million applicants have been slowed, and hundreds of thousands of needy people have waited months for checks.

And with benefit funds at dangerous lows even before the recession began, states are taking on billions in debt, increasing the pressure to raise taxes or cut aid, just as either would inflict maximum pain.

Treasury, Fed Dispute On display In Congress

Geithner, Bernanke squaring off in clash over top consumer watchdog

WASHINGTON - Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke are squaring off in a public dispute over who should become the nation’s top consumer watchdog.

Geithner wants to strip the Fed of its consumer protection duties and create a new federal agency designated solely to such a mission. Bernanke says those responsibilities should stay with the central bank and has suggested he is up to the task by outlining new rules for mortgage lenders.

Both officials were scheduled to make their cases Friday morning in back-to-back testimony before the House Financial Services Committee.

Agents Capture One Of FBI's Most Wanted

WASHAKIE COUNTY, Wyoming (July 24) -- Federal agents have apprehended accused child molester Edward Eugene Harper, who was on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list, an FBI official said Thursday.

Harper, 63, is accused of molesting two girls, ages 3 and 8, in his neighborhood in Hernando, Mississippi, more than a decade ago, the FBI said.

The FBI said it received a telephone tip in June at the Denver office regarding Harper, and brought a SWAT team and a hostage negotiation team to apprehend him in rural Wyoming on Thursday.

He surrendered without incident, the FBI said, and later admitted his identity to agents.

Dear Mr. President, What Does ‘Health Reform’ Mean?

Amy Menefee
Friday, June 05, 2009

President Obama needs our urgent support, he says, because he wants to pass healthcare reform this year. Apparently it’s so urgent that he’s reversing the positions that got him elected.

Candidate Obama, who ruthlessly attacked Candidate McCain for proposing to tax health benefits “for the first time in history” – when McCain was actually offering a tax credit – is now President Obama, who is suddenly “open to” taxing our health benefits.

Candidate Obama, who vowed he didn’t want an individual mandate for purchasing health insurance, as his Democratic primary opponent Candidate Clinton did, is now President Obama, who “could support” mandates on individual Americans.

The president told Senate leaders in a letter this week that he is still committed to the “principle that if [Americans] like the coverage they have now, they can keep it.” This sounds good, and it’s politically smart because 70 percent of insured Americans are happy with their coverage, according to a Rasmussen poll.

But Obama has done a 180-degree turn on his other principles, and there’s no reason to believe this one will stand.

In fact, the policies he now supports are guaranteed to bring change to our health insurance.

It’s all about more government: a government health insurance plan, government mandates that every person buy insurance or face a penalty, and government putting new burdens on employers.

On the campaign trail, Obama said instead of making individuals purchase insurance, he’d force businesses to do it for their employees.

That doesn’t work any more in this economy. Americans have seen the shape our employers are in, and we’re not dense enough to believe that what happens to our employers doesn’t affect us. Just ask anyone who’s been laid off this year.

It seems everything businesses do is going to end up getting paid for by us taxpayers anyway. First it was the banks, now it’s the auto companies, and the health care industry will be next.

The president says he “strongly believes” we need a government health insurance plan – most likely free to those with low incomes and cheaper than private insurance for the rest of us.

For most rational people, free or cheaper health insurance would be hard to resist. Employers in particular would gladly offload their workers onto a government plan. Quickly, cash-strapped private insurance companies would start going under, and insurance executives would be hopping in their jets to ask Washington for a bailout.

And they wouldn’t be the only ones. We’d also have to bail out doctors, nurses, and every other health care professional who can’t stay in business on what the government pays them.

Medicare is a warning. Fewer doctors are accepting new Medicare patients, because the plan often doesn’t even cover the price of care – and it adds the extra red tape of dealing with a federal bureaucracy.

Obama also supports a health insurance “exchange,” which at first glance seems less extreme. Unfortunately, it has the same outcome: government control of health insurance and shrinking options for patients.

The exchange is supposed to be like a mall, but there would be requirements for the policies sold there. The federal government would decide which companies stay and what kinds of policies they could offer. And how much they cost. And which illnesses they cover.

Before you know it, what was supposed to expand patients’ options has streamlined all insurance policies to fit a national government standard. All our “choices” would look the same.

The president is begging his network of campaign supporters to rally for health reform starting June 6. Just a few days earlier, he finally gave them the first clues about what they’ll be rallying for.

They’ll be rallying to force every American to buy a government-approved insurance policy or pay a fine if they don’t – something a majority of Americans oppose. Rasmussen reported that 56 percent of Americans “say that if someone doesn’t want to buy insurance, they shouldn't have to.”

They’ll be rallying for everyone who has health insurance through his or her job to pay a big new chunk of taxes.

They’ll be rallying to turn over the choices about their health coverage to bureaucrats.

At least now we know what President Obama wants.

In God We Trust, But Congress Must Be Watched!

A MESSAGE FROM SPEAKER NEWT GINGRICH

Finally, there is some good news. Last Thursday, the US House passed H.Con.Res. 131 directing the Architect of the Capitol to engrave the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the National Motto of "In God We Trust" in the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC).

During construction of the Capitol Visitor Center, both “In God We Trust” and the pledge were omitted, and the House Architect refused to have them added. We were very vocal about the omissions and worked to have both included. The words “In God We Trust” were added just prior to the opening, but the Pledge of Allegiance was not. The Pledge is the only set of common words that both the House and the Senate recite to begin their legislative day.

Now, you wouldn’t think so, but it actually took an act of Congress to get the House Architect to engrave the Pledge of Allegiance in the Capitol Visitor Center.

But, there is still more to be done. The CVC is replete with missing information, omissions and falsifications. Most notably missing is a tribute to America’s Godly Heritage.

For decades, the secular, liberal left has tried to eliminate God from the public square.

That’s a sad fact that I’m sure I don’t have to convince you of.

It cost $621 million taxpayer dollars – your money! – to build a “Capitol Visitor Center” – one that completely ignores the faith of our Founding Fathers and tries to erase the role that God had in the establishment of our country and our government.

In fact, we wrote a report about our findings. I’d like to send you that report.

The result of this whitewashing of history is a Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) that is filled with historical inaccuracies and liberal biases.

As a former history professor and the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, I’m dismayed by this abuse of our tax dollars and this abuse of the public trust.

As I mentioned, already, the House Architect and the Capitol Preservation Commission had to be forced to include the national motto – “In God We Trust” – in the Capitol Visitor Center.

https://secure.conservativedonations.com/real_dvdoffer/?a=2724

That’s right, originally, the designers of the CVC had even scrubbed our national motto from its displays and attempted to replace it by misidentifying E Pluribus Unum as the national motto. Apparently, the reference to God was too offensive to some.

But thanks in large part to the public outcry our campaign raised, the Commission in charge of CVC content relented and corrected the displays. Then we fought to add the Pledge of Allegiance and won.

But sadly, these are just two of many examples of anti-religious bias and historically-incorrect content in the $621 million CVC.

In other areas, important quotes from our founding fathers and founding documents were craftily edited to remove references to “religion” and “morality.”

One member of Congress called the CVC a $621 million shrine to Political Correctness. But unfortunately, he is in the minority.

In one display, the text of the Constitution itself was edited to remove the phrase “in the year of our Lord!”

And religion isn’t the only victim of the CVC’s bias.

Read the Report.

Time after time, displays were edited to insert liberal ideology into crucial moments and documents concerning our nation’s founding.

Broad “editorial license” was taken to imply that the Constitution and the founding fathers endorsed the big-government excesses that today’s liberal politicians have become so fond of.

Think about that. Thousands of visitors to the Capitol each day will be indoctrinated with a liberal worldview about our government the Founders never intended or imagined. At the same time, they will not appreciate or understand our Godly heritage which made our country great.

I could go on and on about the bias and inaccuracies of the Capitol Visitor Center, but I’m afraid it would take too much of your time.

In fact, through our organization “Renewing American Leadership,” we’ve put together a 23 page report that details all of the problems with the new Capitol Visitor Center.

Renewing American Leadership is built on the bedrock values of: integrity, faith, perseverance, accountability, freedom, stewardship, and servant leadership.

By forgetting our heritage, and ignoring the fundamental founding principles, America risks losing its status as leader of the free world.

Sadly, I think many of the liberals in Washington and in the media would like nothing more than to see this happen. In fact, it’s already happening. The Left has been re-writing our history in our schools, in the press, and now in places like the Capitol Visitor Center.

But we don’t intend to let them get away with it. That’s why I’m sending you this warning today.

If you’re interested in supporting our work and reading about all of the examples we’ve uncovered I’d be happy to send you a copy of our shocking report. -- https://secure.conservativedonations.com/real_dvdoffer/?a=2724

Our hope is to get this report into as many American hands as possible in order to expose the truth and get concerned citizens like you to take action.

I’m hoping I can count on you to help us in this effort.

Believe me, public outcry can have a very positive influence on official actions, and I know that if we can gather enough Citizen Demands, we can get these outrageous omissions and errors corrected.

I hope you will support our work to distribute this shocking 23 page report to as many concerned American citizens as possible.

So can I count on you to support this, and all of our important projects, with your gift of $25, $50 or more?

Please know that every dollar will be put to use in our efforts to restore America’s traditional values, so if you can give even more – perhaps $100, $500 or even $1000 – I hope you will.

A Cop & A Harley

A cop stops a Harley for traveling faster than the posted speed limit, so
he asks the biker his name.

'Fred,' he replies.

'Fred what?' the officer asks.

'Just Fred,' the man responds.

The officer is in a good mood and thinks he might just give the biker a
break and, write him out a warning instead of a ticket. The officer then
presses him for the last name.

The man tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it. The
officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands but plays along with it. 'Tell
me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?'

The biker replies, 'It's a long story, so stay with me.' I was born Fred
Dingaling. I know -- a funny last name. The kids used to tease me all
the time, so I stayed to myself, studied hard and got good grades. When I got
older, I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went through college,
medical school, internship, residency, and finally got my degree, so I was
Fred Dingaling, MD. After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I
decided to go back to school.. Dentistry was my dream! Got all the way through
school, got my degree, so then I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS. Got bored
doing dentistry, so I started fooling around with my assistant and she
gave me VD, so now I was Fred Dingaling, MD, DDS, with VD. Well, the ADA
found out about the VD, so they took away my DDS. Then I was Fred Dingaling,
MD, with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away my DDS because
of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving me as Fred Dingaling with VD.
Then the VD took away my Dingaling, so now I am Just Fred.'

The officer walked away in tears, laughing.

Salisbury Police Officers Being Shot At In Vehicles

A Salisbury Police Officer was shot at Wednesday night while patrolling Church Street in his vehicle. The thugs were in between two homes and shot at the Police car striking it. By the time the Officer turned around they had run off.

Mayor Ireton was made aware of this information yesterday morning but not a word of it has come out to the Press. Why, well, go figure! Looks like Mayor Ireton is quickly covering up the TRUTH and acting more like the former Mayor every day.

However, rather than the former Mayor being in control of her Department Heads, this time the Department Heads are in control of the Mayor. Follow up0 on this story MSM. Go out there and demand to take shots of the Police Vehicle with a bullet hole in it.

Yeah, we need more Firefighter and not Police Officers. If Webster had the stones he'd ask for 12 new Officers and accept 6 at a time. However, when you only ask for a couple per year and get them, well, you know where I'm going with this. Stop spending money on the Fire Department and get additional Police Officers. We don't need to have our Officer being shot at while simply patrolling the streets of Salisbury.

I checked with Council Members and they were NOT aware of this shooting either. We were also informed that things had gotten so bad in Salisbury earlier this week that the SPD had allegedly called the Sheriff's Department and the Fruitland Police to handle calls. You know how the Chief and 3rd floor employees don't work overtime.

One Man's Opinion

Be advised, this material is not suitable for Obama admirers/boosters.

Interestingly, I read the following critique right before I watched Obama’s “press” conference last night. If Americans weren’t weary of Obama and his fawning “press” dogs before this performance, they should be exhausted now.

What was most appalling about Obama’s performance was the unchecked unreality. Either Obama has no idea what is in the legislation that has passed in congress thus far or he was fanaticizing about what he would like to see in the legislation that he hopes will pass “by the end of the year”. Either way, to represent to the American people that what he was describing is what is currently being blocked in congress was disingenuous at best.

This is getting scary, folks. I’m with Limbaugh; I don’t want Obama to succeed because I disagree with what he is trying to accomplish. But increasingly, I am being shocked by the unreality demonstrated by Obama. And I don’t know how to interpret Obama’s blind adherence to this unreality; is it incredible arrogance and chutzpah or is it insane? Or maybe it’s just me?

A number of fine commentators have recently been making the point that Obama doesn’t seem to know how to move from being a campaigner to being President. Increasingly, this is becoming obvious to more and more Americans. Obama is big on big, idealistic concepts but appears to have no idea how to evaluate their practicality or to bring them to reality. This may explain why he delegates (I might say abdicates) responsibility for everything to others. All legislation (with the possible exception of the budget) has been delegated to the Democrats in congress to draft. The financial crisis was delegated to Treasury which has been largely saved by the Fed who realized Treasury was incapable of resolving anything. Closing Gitmo has been delegated to Justice. The auto bailout was delegated to the car czar. Etc.

But increasingly it appears Obama does not know what the people he had delegated to are doing. This is why the term “abdicate” is a better term that “delegate” since delegation implies a certain degree of continued supervision and responsibility by the delegator. Certainly on the health care bills, he lacks familiarity with the specifics. He admitted as much in a telephone conference with liberal bloggers earlier this week. And in his conference tonight, Obama admitted he was unaware of the findings of the Inspector General on TARP! What is Obama spending his time doing? Who is minding the store while Obama campaigns?

On the other hand, what do we expect? We elected as President an unknown who has never run anything; he has zero executive experience. The organizational mess he has created with “czars” duplicating cabinet secretaries not only circumvents the Constitution but creates an administrative nightmare which will likely become increasingly chaotic as his term proceeds. Who has access to Obama? Who has responsibility? How can one person, irrespective of the degree of his management experience, manage so many people?

Obama has been in office only six months and things are already unraveling. Does anyone out there think he will be able to pull it together?

Here's What Canada Thinks About Obama's Healthcare Reform

Here is an article from the Canadian press with their view of the Obama administration. I keep wondering why our own press continues to be either oblivious or enabling when it comes to what is happening. I also wonder why there is no outcry from the general population or even rebukes from reasonable and thinking politicians.

Obama has turned an economic downturn into an economic disaster
Obama’s White House is Falling Down
By Daniel Greenfield Thursday, June 11, 2009

In the sixth month of his presidency, Obama has turned an economic downturn into an economic disaster, taking over and trashing entire companies, and driving the nation deep into deficit spending expected to pass 10 trillion dollars.

Abroad, Obama seems to have no other mode except to continue on with his endless campaign, confusing speechmaking with diplomacy. It is natural enough that Obama, who built his entire campaign on high profile public speeches reported on by an adoring press, understands how to do nothing else but that.

Ego driven photo op appearances and clueless treatment of foreign dignitaries. While the press is still chewing over Obama’s Cairo speech, this celebrity style coverage ignores the fact that Obama’s endless world tour is not actually accomplishing anything. Instead his combination of ego driven photo op appearances and clueless treatment of foreign dignitaries have alienated many of America’s traditional allies. Those who aren’t being quietly angry at Obama, like Brown, Merkel or Netanyahu, instead think of him as absurdly lightweight, as Sarkozy, King Abdullah or Putin do.

While his officials carry out their dirty economic deeds, Obama responds to any and every crisis as if it were a Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland musical, with a cry of, “Let’s put on a show.” Thus far Obama has put on “shows” across America, Europe and the Middle East. And what the adoring media coverage neglects to cover, is that Obama’s shows have solved absolutely nothing. They have served only as high profile entertainment.

Neither alienating America’s traditional allies, through a combination of arrogant bullying and ignorance, nor appeasing America’s enemies, has yielded any actual results. Nor does it seem likely to. Islamic terrorism is not going anywhere, neither are the nuclear threats from North Korea and Iran. While Obama keeps smiling, the global situation keeps growing more grim.

At home, if Obama was elected as depression era entertainment, the charm of his smiles and his constant appearances on magazine covers appear to be wearing thin on the American public. Despite the shrill attacks on Rush Limbaugh or the Republican Enemy of the Weak-- the Democratic party of 2009, is polling a lot like the Republican party of 2008. The Democrats have suddenly become the incumbents, and the only accomplishment they can point to is lavish deficit spending, often on behalf of the very same corporations and causes they once postured against.

The European Union Parliament’s swing to the right cannot be credited to Obama, though doubtlessly some European voters seeing socialist economic crisis management on display in the world’s richest country decided they wanted none of it, but it is part of a general turning against federalism. And Obama’s entire program is dependent on heavily entrenching federalism at the expense of individual and state’s rights. Yet that is precisely his Achilles heel with independent voters who are polling against more taxes and expanded government. And no amount of speeches by Obama can wish away his 18 czars or the national debt he has foisted on generation after generation of the American people. That leaves Obama with a choice between socialism and the independent voter. And thus far he has chosen socialism.

Obama’s tactic of hijacking Bush Administration era policies on the economy and the War on Terror, and exploiting them as Trojan horses to promote his own agenda, have left him coping with a backlash from his own party, as well as general Republican opposition.

His Czars are meant to function as the bones in an executive infrastructure accountable to no one, but a lack of accountability isn’t just another word for tyranny, but for incompetence. A functional chain of command is accountable at multiple levels if it is to function effectively. Obama’s White House by contrast is in a state of over-organized chaos, the sort of organized disorganization that undisciplined egotistical leftists naturally create for themselves, complete with multiple overlapping levels of authority and no one in charge but the man at the top, who’s too busy doing other things to actually be in charge.

Dennis Blair as National Intelligence, who collaborated with the Muslim genocide of Christians in East Timor, trying to muscle out the CIA to create his own intelligence network, is typical of the kind of chaos being spawned by every chief in an expanding government bureaucracy working to make sure that all the indians answer to him. Similarly the National Security Council wrestling with the State Department, highlighted by Samantha Power getting her own specially created NSC position to butt heads with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, illustrates the state of conflict and chaos in American foreign affairs. A state of chaos so pervasive that incompetence has now become commonplace, and no one can even be found to double check the spelling of a Russian word that is meant to be the theme of American’s diplomatic reconstruction with Russia, or to pick out a gift for the
visiting British Prime Minister.

The death of Chrysler at the hands of Fiat and the UAW. Meanwhile on the economy, Obama exploited the ongoing bailouts, transforming them from bailouts into takeovers meant to shift the balance of power in what had been a democracy and socially engineer not only corporations, but the lives of ordinary Americans. But the public’s patience with corporate bailouts is at an end, most Americans were never happy with them to begin with, and want them to end. The death of Chrysler at the hands of Fiat and the UAW might look like a victory in the union ranks, but it doesn’t play too well outside Detroit. And tacking on CAFE standards that will kill the pickup truck and the SUV will badly erode Obama in the swing states, if exploited properly in 2010 and 2012.

Despite the constant media barrage, orchestrated out of the White House, the
public is growing disenchanted with the performance of Obama and the Democrats. With unemployment booming and the economy dropping, the jobs aren’t there and the spending is out of control. Republicans today are polling better on ethics and the economy, than the Democrats are. That shows a trend which is likely to register in the mid-term elections in 2010, in the same way that the EU parliamentary elections served as a shock to the system.

In the opposition, Republicans are free to embrace the rhetoric of change, to champion reform and push libertarian ideas about the size and scope of government. In turn all Obama has is his celebrity fueled media spectacle world tour. A charade now serving as a parallel to the depression era entertainment that functioned as escapism in a dour time. But before long, it may be Obama that the American public will want to escape from.

A shallow, manipulative and egotistical amateur who is in over his head,Obama has tried to play Lincoln, Reagan, JFK and FDR-- but in the end he can only play himself, a shallow, manipulative and egotistical amateur who is in over his head, and trying to drag the country down with him. Obama’s White House is falling down and while the flashbulbs are still glittering and the parties are going on in D.C. and around the world, Obama and the Democratic Congress may be headed for a recession of their own.
