Ravens Win Over Tennessee Sends Them To AFC Championship Game

Matt Stover made a 43 yard field goal with 53 seconds left to go in the game and the Baltimore Ravens won 13 - 10.

If they beat Pittsburgh or San Diego next week they'll be heading to the Super Bowl. Their last visit to the Super Bowl was back in 2001.

Considering many people have started putting up comments on other Posts I thought I'd better share the love for once and finally put up a Post about football and the Ravens.

I used to be into Football in a big way years ago but as the Redskins started falling apart, the former owner passed away and our former Governor spend $500,000,000.00 on the Ravens and Redskins with our hard earned money, I simply gave up.

Mr. Glendenning and I sat in my Bowie Baysox Skybox one day where he tried to sell me on the fact that they were going to raise $35,000,000.00 a year in new taxes to pay back the $500,000,000.00 the Taxpayers fronted. So I asked him, Paris, are you going to be bussing in all the fans from PA, DE, VA, WV? He replied, some may come from those states to see the game. I replied, Paris, come on now. You and I both know that the majority of people coming to the game will be from Maryland, right? Yes. I then said, well, that means you borrowed the money from Maryland Taxpayers and Maryland Taxpayers are going to pay back their own money! Guess what, he hadn't thought of that! That's when I gave up on Football.

Anyhow, here's your Post to talk about today's game and your thoughts on the men in tights wearing purple. Two Snaps Up On The Title Alone!

Skeletal Remains Found in Berlin/W Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Police say they have recovered human skeletal remains found in West Ocean City on Friday.

GO HERE for the rest of the story provided by WBOC's website.

Sinepuxent Rd in West OC/Berlin area is a very long, curvy, wooded road with lots of local travelers. I live in this area, but not on Sinepuxent Road. Many mornings and afternoons during warmer weather, there are bikers, walkers and joggers. This road is also used during jogging and biking marathons in the area. In the past few months, I have seen several changes, likely a spark of growth in the area. There are many areas in which perk test pipes have been put in place by the county, hoping for future home sites. It's very quiet and natural in this rural part of Berlin/West OC.

I have seen a few tents pitched and bikers that look homeless in the area in the past, especially during the summer months, so to receive this news is shocking, but not unexpected. It's unfortunate for his life to end in such turmoil of homelessness and loneliness. My heart goes out the county inspector who had to find such an unexpected discovery.

An Interesting Comment Turned Into A Post

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "RECORD DAY!":

"Joe a friend of my daughters has a 4 1/2 year old son that goes to the same day care as our grand-baby, the ark in Seaford. My wife told me this morning that she had just found out that the day care left this 4 1/2 year old boy locked in one of their transport vans from 7:45AM until 2:45PM. Seems that no-one missed him or realized this for 7 hours, can you believe that. The mother is in the process of dealing with the proper authorities to get to the bottom of this. Crazy."

RECORD DAY!

Remember how I said Friday's aren't all the greatest days as the visitors tend to drop off in the afternoon. Well, three weeks ago we had a record day on a Friday and yesterday we topped those numbers in a big way. Now, what will be really cool to watch will be if the numbers stay steady next week with so many new visitors.

Thanks for visiting Salisbury News and we hope you enjoy the ride. LOL

HISTORICAL MOMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER

A Tale of Frustration

Once upon a time in the city of Salisbury, Maryland, a situation occurred that has many psychological ramifications. The event happened with my great-grandmother, Frances Kelly, in the 1890’s. At the time she had five children that had been born between 1885 and 1894. She also had a husband that was as pure Irish-Catholic as she was and much older. Although he was born in 1831, their marriage record in Somerset County lists his birth date as 1846. Since she was born in 1851, I guess he thought that five years was a suitable difference in age as opposed to twenty. Among his many jobs was tending the farm of John Tracy, doing maintenance at John Tracy’s Peninsula Hotel and hauling straw to the water works at the John B. Parson’s Home to keep the boiler fired up that provided them with hot water. For this he received ten cents a load. The small brick building to which he brought the straw is still there, alongside the standpipe.

Apparently, he had had a habit of drinking a pint of spirits every day and this probably affected his personality to the point that his Irish temper flared up more often than it would have had he been totally sober.

The event that happened was that my great-grandmother became totally frustrated with life and all things in it – an alcoholic husband, five children and grinding poverty. She decided to take her life by walking from her home at the corner of Second and Pearl and walk into the River, thus ending her life and condemning her soul to everlasting damnation, since that was her belief as a God-fearing Catholic. As she entered the River and was about up to her waist, she happened to look up and saw her husband hauling a load of straw to the Parson’s Home. A clear thought of what she was doing and the consequences brought about her next thought- “That old man is not worth losing my soul over”. She then exited the River, went back home and lived until 1919.

America Needs A Leader Like This!

Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

The Influence Of The Salisbury News

Influential Means...........

"I had a meeting at the school to appeal the suspension and they didn't budge, oh well then I got home and the MAYOR called me.. She promised to take care of this. She may. so lets see. She did all the talking."

To those nay sayers who said this wasn't the Mayor's place to intervene in such matters, I believe even the Mayor now begs to differ with you. My hat is tipped to Mayor Tilghman for this clear signal of growth on her behalf.

This is a complicated situation for all involved and truthfully, it's going to take a neutral party with some influence to make things right. I believe the Mayor can fill that position and now I'm pleased we made this public to start with as well as giving her accolades for changing her mind and doing what is right.

Now some might say that I'm kissing the Mayor's butt because we have a lawsuit coming forward in a week or so. That's just not the case here. I would hope by now everyone recognizes that I not only welcome this lawsuit, I firmly believe we need to bury the hatchet and move on with our lives. In the mean time, give credit where credit is due. How long this lasts, no one knows but I like what I see.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post

Do you plan on going to the Presidential Inauguration?

"Deacon James Bailey said...

Yes I am going to be at this historis occasion. I will feel like one of the 3 wise men who first peered down upon Christ. When I look upon the Great One, Obama, I will know he is the chosen one to bring my black race out of the muck and give us equal in-depth status in reality and not this surface and insincere opportunties.I see a new peaceful revolution coming in America. Our years as second class citizens ends January 20 th. Oh, what a great day in America! The angels will sing, bells will ring and our people will rejoice.Hats off to the annoited ONE."

Well, alrighty then. Can't say as I'm as excited but I am shopping for a red, white and blue tuxedo to travel to the Schools and check out their festive indoor Harding's. I think I'll have a much better chance at parking too. Maybe I can get Apollo Creed's outfit from Rocky?
