This Just In: America's Most Wanted Picks Up Missing Woman Christine Sheddy Case

I just got an email from the mother of Christine Sheddy with a link to America's Most Wanted, detailing her Missing Person's Case. You can click on the link below to see the site.
The wheels of Justice seems to move in Super Slow Mo, as we sent a complete package of everything we had compiled regarding Christine, to Americas Most Wanted in January.

Carrie Wise, daughter of murdered Pocomoke resident Judy Woljcik also started a letter writing campaign to AMW with hundreds of letters pouring in, all in hopes of getting national media attention.

At this point it appears from the AMW website that this is a Internet Case Only at this time. I didn't see anything on the site that indicated an air time for Christine's Case on the actual show.

Lets not forget to keep Christine, her family, and the officers in all of the agencies looking for her in our prayers so that she will be found.

A couple of days ago, on one of Joe's post, 2 women advertised their vehicles for sale. Patty has a newer SUV all the bells and whistles and keeps it garaged. Donna on the other hand stated her older SUV, also with all the bells and whistles, could be seen on Zion Rd out in the front yard. We were informed today, Donna sold her SUV. Advertising cost...ZERO.

What can be said? Even if you post an ad in jest in the comments section you'll see results on SBYNEWS.

A Comment Worth Posting

"A few weeks ago, my husband & I wanted some fried chicken for dinner, so we drove into Popyes on north 13. He stayed in the car & I went in to order. While waiting in line forever, I witnessed an argument between a customer & an employee, it got pretty rough! They obviously knew each other. One couple in line walked out without ordering. When I finally got back to the car, my husband said he witnessed 3 drug deals right in the parking lot. A female employee came out the front door, pulled a baggie from her pocket picked something out of it and gave it to a guy who then gave her money. He also saw the same thing happening from the back area. This was in broad daylight and no one seemed to be worried about being seen. I was close to calling the cops but I wanted to get out of there in one piece. I hope the police know this is happening & comes down on them for this. I sure miss English Grill north & south for a bucket of chicken!"

How about that Chiefy of Police, eh?

Question of the Day, Sun 6/29

Today's question of the day brought to you by Sbynews reader hip.boots:

If you lived in the day of the "Boston Tea Party," would you have joined in,
risking life and limb . . . against wrongful taxation? Or would you gladly be paying $4.00 for your cup of tea?

Our Very First Mike Clone

The last name may not be Lewis but one thing is for sure, Fruitland can now expect the very same kind of protection everyone has grown so comfortable with within Sheriff Mike Lewis.

Chief Phillips was sworn in last Friday in Fruitland and he came directly from the Maryland State Police, just as Sheriff Lewis did. Criminals have lots to worry about and Fruitland won't lose an ounce of the protection they grew so used to in the past.

Welcome aboard Chief Phillips and Congratulations Fruitland!

Hagerstown Fire Dept. Lands Federal Grants On Its Own

GO HERE for the official article.

HAGERSTOWN — Although the City of Hagerstown in January hired a lobbying firm to help the city obtain federal funding, the Hagerstown Fire Department has gone it alone, with some success.

Hagerstown Fire Chief Gary Hawbaker said the fire department didn’t use a lobbyist to land nearly $2 million in grant money since 2002.

A committee made up of firefighters typically joins forces to write grants, he said. If they hit a snag, other fire departments in Washington County lend a hand — even though they are competing against each other — because “the pot (of available federal funding) is so big,” Hawbaker said.

The first attempt to land grants in 2002 was unsuccessful, but Hawbaker said the firefighters learned enough to improve their technique and, in 2003, they received two grants totaling about $32,000. The amount steadily increased.

This year, the fire department received $948,825 in federal grants, he said.

U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, R-6th, said he is willing to help the city obtain federal funding for its projects with or without professional help.

“I am working with the City of Hagerstown and the (Washington) County Commissioners,” Bartlett said in a prepared statement. “Lobbyists are not needed for me in assisting with their request. If they hire lobbyists, that is up to them, but lobbyists are not needed for my assistance.”

Melissa Schwartz, a spokeswoman for U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., wrote in an e-mail that Mikulski met with Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II and representatives of The Ferguson Group earlier this year.

“At that time, Sen. Mikulski explained that she receives far more requests than can be funded, and does what she can to fight for priority projects,” the e-mail said. “She also encouraged them to look at competitive grant opportunities ... Sen. Mikulski’s door is always open to the City of Hagerstown.”

Sue Walitsky, a spokeswoman for U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., said Cardin also is open to discussing federal funding opportunities with the City of Hagerstown.

“Sen. Cardin is working with Hagerstown and other Maryland cities to get funding every day,” Walitsky said. “Getting (federal money) for Maryland is a part of his agenda.”

SALISBURY REALLY LOOKS BAD!

Joe:

I just came home from in town - (Salisbury) -at 9:15 p.m.

My wife and I made a trip in town to try and escape our own home for an hour or two.

I passed by the -(Crack) - Royal Farm store - but decided the crowd looked to cede so I made a U-turn and decided instead to go to WAWA. When I got to WAWA it looked like there were hookers hanging out in front of the pay phones and also what looked like to be their pimps.

I actually locked my P/U in front of the gasoline pump so as not to give anyone the wrong idea about stealing from my vehicle.

Then, when passing down in front of Pepsi Cola on my return trip home I saw two City Police officers interceding in a fracas at Pizza City.

SALISBURY IS REALLY LOOKING BAD IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED LATELY.

I'm just happy to have made it back home to my house in Parsonsburg.

Thought you might be interested.

Fast Action Chief Jackson Steps Down

Well, its official Folks. The honorable Chief Jackson has given up his Post as the Chief of the Fruitland Police Department as of last Friday and has pretty much hand picked the honorable Mike Phillips to take his place.

The biggest disappointment I experienced with all of this was the fact that I did not get the opportunity to get to know Mr. Jackson like I wished I had. This is a gentleman that is so highly respected by just about anyone and everyone I've come across, with exception to that a$$hole Dumeyer. Sorry Chief but what an Idiot!

Besides all that, I put up a Post a week or so ago about his upcoming stepping down and the e-mail messages coming into Salisbury News was just overwhelming! It has certainly and obviously been my loss not having the opportunity to get to know this man better as one of the biggest things I love in life is WISDOM! This man is just loaded with it.

So to Chief Jackson, any time, any place my friend, I'll buy! Thank You Sir, for all the dedication, safety and hope you've given so many people in Fruitland. May you enjoy your future in the best of health. Oh, your Wife's a babe too! ;-)

Before & After

The Princess Anne Police Department was established in 1801 and the present station was built in 1857. Dubbed "The Grey Eagle" in old photographs, it is the only 19th century structure with load bearing walls in Somerset County. It is quite possibly the oldest continually operating Police Station in the State of Maryland.

The "Grey Eagle" operate as the Somerset County Jail from 1857 to 1987, when the current facility in Westover was completed. After that time the building was shared by the Town of Princess Anne and the Police Department.

In 1999 the Town of Princess Anne considered demolishing the building due to its increasingly decrepit state. However, the Town Commissioners voted to restore the structure instead and with the help of the Maryland Historical Trust, the Somerset County Historical Trust, the USDA and numerous other grants, construction began in 2003.

On June 27th, 2008, under the guidance of the Princess Anne Commissioners; the Town of Princess Anne and the Princess Anne Police Department proudly announce the completion of restorations and re dedicate the "Gray Eagle" as a symbol of pride in Historic Princess Anne.

Who's The Bumbling Idiot Who Designed This Stupidity?

For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to visit Isabella Street, here's what they did to it recently.

While I was there, NOT ONE vehicle swerved in and around this Indy Track, they all drove over the yellow lines and stayed straight down the road anyway.

Please don't tell me Comegys had something to do with this stupidity? I know Michael Day, (former Council Member) influenced this idiotic, stupid, ridiculous plan. It kind of reminds me of the Mayors idea for the Downtown Plaza. Oh, that failed too, right Barrie!

I'm begging someone to please step up to the plate and tell me ONE thing Barrie Tilghman has done good for the Citizens of Salisbury. I've seen her piss away more money on stupid amateur ideas and people aren't flipping her the finger enough in disgust.

OK, so now four Fire Trucks are driving down this STUPID road, where do you go? I've been told that even Chief See said they don't give a crap, they're driving over the curbs no matter what! That's one of the best things I've ever heard come out of his mouth, (allegedly) as a leader.

Well, you know my thoughts on this STUPID idea, what's your thoughts now that you've seen it?

The Eagle Has Landed

Princess Anne Police Chief Scott Keller

Commission President Frank White hand Chief Keller the proclamation.

Officers raise the flag.

Princess Anne Police Officers Salute the Flag.

Princess Anne's Finest.

Some 200 people came to participate in the Re dedication.

The Princess Anne Police Department held their Re dedication Ceremony on June 27, 2008 for their newly renovated Police Station called "The Grey Eagle."

While the entire group of Commissioners were present along with numerous dignitaries, almost 200 people were present to join in this celebration including Police Officers from the State Police and Wicomico County Sheriff's Department.

Salisbury News would like to congratulate Princess Anne for reinvesting back into history and showing you can take an old building and bring it up to today's standards. If you haven't been to this facility, drop in and let them give you a tour.
