BREAKING NEWS!!! Fernano Gerrero Lands 1st Round Knock Out

Salisbury's Pride & Joy Fernando Gerrero knocked out Amhad Barini in the very first round and knocked him out cold! You can still catch some of the matches on HBO right now but Fernando is now 8-0!

This kid is just unbelievable! Congratulations Hal Chernoff and Fernando Gerrero! You heard it here first on Salisbury News!

Has The Exodus Begun?

Word on the street is some of SAPOA's members are selling their student rental properties. Which of the following reasons do any of you think they are bailing out?

Higher property taxes? nah, they pass that on to the tenants.

Increases in sewer and water to come every year for the next 5 years? Nope, same as above, passed on.

The council has recently discussed tighter landlord laws to be followed? Nah, they know Louise, who was backed during her campaign by SAPOA, will do whatever they want.

Their buddy Barrie Parsons Tilghman has no chance of reelection? Well, not in a legitimate election could she possibly win. This is a possibility.

The face of the council is about to change with Shanie being dumped? Another possibility, they'll be losing their grip on the city administration if that 3-2 vote is ever reversed.

Bubba and Weezie will be their only saving grace. Good lord, imagine having to depend on that pair for anything? One lies like there is no tomorrow and the other doesn't pay his bills. A pair you can count on...NOT.

If the gods are looking on Salisbury, they have got to be unlike justice, which is supposedly blind. In the case of this mayor and her administration, past and present, I honestly do believe justice is truly blind, deaf and dumb as well. We've seen no justice in the past 10 years, we're due a break.

Congressional Candidate Andy Harris At Chicken Festival Today

I just got off the phone with Senator Andy Harris and he informed me how excited he is to attend the Chicken Festival in Salisbury today. They do have a Booth there and I truly mean this Folks, go up there and meet this man. He truly is a great guy. Challenge him. Tell him your concerns and see what he has to say about resolutions.

Ross Perot Nails It

Ross Perot débuted a new website this past Monday, June 16, 2008 with lots of charts helping to explain our nations economic dilemma.

http://perotcharts.com

It is very informative and interesting to see our government's explosive growth, particularly, mandatory entitlement spending.

A must read for informing our citizenry.

What's the best advice you have ever gotten?

Who gave you this advice? Did you use their advice or did you have to learn the hard way?

More Sewage Spills

Editor:

(The following letter was addressed to Salisbury’s mayor.)

At what point will you get involved to stop these sewage spills? You are the captain of the ship named Salisbury and you have done a miserable job of holding people accountable for their careless actions. Someone should be fired –today. Maybe you.

I am sending your story to 60 Minutes and hope they do a story on how lousy a job you have done on controlling these spills that are killing our river. My next contact is Maryland Dept. of the Environment to insist on heavy fines for your city. Your legacy of the worst mayor in the nation is certainly well deserved.

Capt. Bruce Wootten

Joe:

I found this article in The Dispatch, thought you’d might like to post it.

Two Years Ago Today

Another mauled Duck is foiund, (by me) at the Salisbury Zoo. Day after day would go by and I would have to find another Zookeeper to inform them I had found yet another mauled Duck in the Zoo. In Memory Of Jim Rapp.

Please Help Spread The Word

"Hi Joe,

1st I want to say that I check your blog daily. That being said, I don't always agree with you or your point of view - but there's alot that I do. Whether I agree or not with your position, I do think that its good that our community has a person like you who is willing to put your 'you-know-what' on the line to keep us all in the know so we can make informed decisions. So for that - thanks.

Honestly I have to say that there are things that I've wanted to write to you about before now - but have been afraid to and here's why: I NEVER want to be under your radar and run the risk of being publicly humiliated like some of your... um... targets. That should boost your confidence right? :)

Anyway, the reason that I am writing tonite is to let you know about a fundraiser that my co-workers and I have put together for a young woman that we work with. Teena was diagnosed last month with Chiari Malformation. Its a neurological disorder that, if left untreated, can cause paralysis. I'm happy to say that she had her surgery to correct the malformation 1 month ago today and is doing quite well. We can't wait to have her back at work! If you are interested, you can read more about Chiari Malformation by visiting the website www.conquerchiari.org.

So I was wondering if you would be willing to post on your website that we have partnered with Wheels that Heal Car Club and we will be at their show on Saturday evening from about 5pm till... dusk, I guess. Over the last week and a half we have scoured the community collecting donations of wonderful items to put in a chinese auction. Things such as gift cards from Outback, Red Roost, Chick-fil-a, Quizno's, Designer's Edge, and more. Also we have a 3 stone diamond necklace and various gift basket sets. We will be having a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale. We truly appreciate Wheels the Heal for allowing us to use them as an outlet to raise money for our friend.

All this is to help raise money for Teena, her husband and her 3 kids to help with medical expenses that aren't covered by insurance & other expenses during this trying time. I was hoping you would post this to help "advertise" it - especially since we are in competition with the Chicken Festival.

Thanks for your help - I appreciate anything that you can do :)

Cathy J."

Dear Cathy,

I happen to believe the "Wheels That Heal Car Club" is one of the finest organizations on the entire Eastern Shore and it is my honor to do my part to help participate exposing such an event. I also want to publicly thank you for your support. This Blog is not designed for everyone to agree and certainly just because Joe Alero says it, it doesn't mean it's always right. Healthy debate is what it's designed to do. Don't be afraid to say your peace. Besides, haven't I mellowed over the past few months?

Good Luck with the event and please let everyone know where the event will be held tomorrow under comments. Joe

Where Is the $400,000?

If you listen to Wicomico County Liquor Control Board members Stewart Haemel and Ron Alessi (along with their minion Justin Collis) you would think the LCB has been donating over $400,000 per year to Wicomico County coffers. Have they?

In a word, NO! Here are the amounts contributed by the WCLCB to the Wicomico treasury each year going back to FY 2003:

2003 $508,104
2004 $253,300
2005 $386,050
2006 $321,550
2007 $320,000

Note the precipitous drop after FY 2003. Coincidentally, FY 2004 was Messrs. Haemel's and Alessi's first full year on the board. Since their tenure, the annual contribution hasn't even AVERAGED the $400,000 number that they love to throw around.

Outside of the insular world of Haemel and Alessi we would have a name for people like that. I think I now know why Gov. Martin O'Malley hasn't bothered appointing Democrats to fill their posts. These guys seem to fit right in with the "new regime".
