Granddad Speaks Out On Pollitt's West Side Park Plan

Let's look at the facts:

1) It has the appearance of a conflict of interest. Even if it's not......it looks like it and the whole deal will erode even further the trust the people have in the govt.

2) We have a 200 acre tract of land along the Wicomico River we acquired 10 years ago through the same program and haven't done anything with it. That piece of land isn't that far from the Crooked Oak area.

3) They keep saying that MOST of the funds for the proposed property on Crooked Oak will come from State money (tax dollars). Some money will be County dollars.

4) This land, just like the land along the river, will come off of the tax rolls and we will never get that revenue back.

5) The property at Winter Place Park is not completely used. As a matter of fact I was back there just last week and came across an area that parks and recs is using a dumping area for wasted sod, large roots, etc. - not what a park is supposed to be used for, huh?

6) There is a parcel owned by the county between Forest Grove Rd. and Walston Switch Rd. on the north side of Rt. 50 but south of Rt. 346 which is partially wooded and partially farmed which consists of about 43 acres. Much of the wooded is rented to hunters for profit (incidentally where does that money go?)

7) The appraisals of the Crooked Oak land have been done for some time. Why have they been kept from the Council. My Councilman has told me that he has asked for them on more than one occasion and was given the run around.

The govt. should not be in the business of buying property. Especially when it has so much already.

This whole thing stinks. Something is going on here, folks, and I firmly believe that this a done deal unless the people stand up NOW and state their opposition to bailing out friends

A Message From Mayor Tilghman

On Saturday October 13th the City Council and I joined the City Administrator and
Assistant City Administrator for our annual goal setting session. The entire Council with the exception of Debbie Campbell spent over four hours discussing, in an informal setting, the goals that we see as important for the fiscal year that will begin in July 2008.

The session is well in advance of the time when the goals will guide our work plan, but not too far in advance of the development of that work plan. The goals will be refined over the next few weeks as they circulate among us all and then they will go to the different City departments to be transformed into a tangible allocation of manpower and funding requests for the budget for Fiscal Year ’09. That process begins in earnest before the first of the year. These goals are invaluable to the City staff as they offer a blue print of Council and Mayor’s hopes for advancing the interests of the citizens we represent.

The goals this year included:

• The development of a comprehensive environmental policy
• Continued emphasis on growth management
• Enhancing neighborhoods
• Focus on inclusive housing and children’s activities
• Promoting regular and open communication with our citizens
• Developing & diversifying opportunities to reduce the burden on the City taxpayer
• Enhance the motivation & effectiveness of the City workforce

The important element in these sessions is the joint nature of the work we do. Now as the staff fleshes out the details of the goals for our further consideration, primarily during the budget process, they understand that these goals represent out mutual commitment to these areas of community life. In addition to the over-arching goals listed above, we also discussed a number of specific elements we want to see included in staff focus. It was exciting to review the work we have done over the past year and to see the successful programs and policies we have initiated to accomplish our current year goals. It was challenging to look at the areas where we have not accomplished as much as we would have liked. Going through this process each year helps us focus our resources more effectively and keeps us on track. We can measure our work each day against the question: How is this helping to accomplish the City’s goals?

This year it was even more exciting that several residents took time to attend and watch the most basic part of our representative democracy in action. More information will follow once the goals are finalized and the staff begins work on them.

RED NET ALERT!

WCSD makes another GREAT bust! Another Salisbury News Exclusive! Today, Sheriff's Deputies Matt Cook & Joel Arnold stopped a vehicle with three men inside. Upon suspicion they searched the vehicle and found 2 1/2 oz of marijuana, 2 8-balls of coke and $16,600.00 in CASH!

All three men have Distribution Records as well as extensive criminal records. Looks like these boys are going away for a long time. Great job guys!

They Come From Everywhere!

Would you believe there's actually a Town in the State of Maryland called Tilghman? I would have never believed it until I saw this visitor! Perhaps it's their attorney trying to make sure they're removed from any affiliation of this Tilghman? Perhaps Barrie & her husband can retire there, SOON!

Birthday Protocol?????

Soon after Louise Smith became Council President I'll never forget one of her first Work Sessions where she had everyone sing Happy Birthday to one of the Council Members. They made a big deal out of it and even served cake but most of us just left anyway.

Councilwoman Cohen recently celebrated her Birthday and you know what she got? A Card left in her mail slot at the GOB. What a BIOTCH! Oh well, Happy Birthday Terry Cohen and I hope there are many more so you can enjoy your Family AND drive the majority NUTS! LOL

WICOMICO COUNTY EXECUTIVE ANNOUNCES PUBLIC MEETING ON PROPOSED WEST SIDE PARK

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., is inviting all residents in the area of the proposed recreation area at Crooked Oak Lane and Rockawalkin Road to attend a public meeting. The Executive has stated that he wants to hear directly from citizens in the neighborhood. To make this as convenient as possible, Pollitt is holding the meeting at the Rockawalkin Methodist Church at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 29th.

The site is under consideration by the Wicomico County Department of Recreation and Parks for use as a large recreation complex. Studies indicate that residents in the growing area are underserved for recreational facilities. County officials indicate that a large portion of the construction of the project will be covered by state funds. The land has not been purchased as yet.

SPD Slams The Wrong Man?

An incident happened at Breaktime Sports Grill & Pub on Salisbury Blvd. two Friday nights ago. A cab driver discharged a passenger at that restaurant and called Police to say he thought the man had a gun. The police respond like storm troopers, didn't tell the management or door men what they were doing. They ran over to a man that fit the description, tackled him to the floor hurt the mans leg and back. Because he wouldnt stand up on their say so, they drug him through the restaurant, to the parking lot only to find out it was the wrong man. They uncuffed him and left the place not telling anyone what the hell was going on, and didn't go back in to find the gun. Is this the way it should be handled?

When I looked this up on the SPD Website, I cannot seem to find the call ever coming in? I did find this around the same time though. Does this sound like a MV accident though? 11/9/2007 23:05 1009 S Salisbury Bv M/V Accident PD 200700037834 Marrs Report

Playing that night was a band called the craze.

ANOTHER DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER! LOL

Still waiting for someone to off you- because your an asshole. I will go to your funeral and cheer!

Let's Hire Lawyers To Fight Something That Can't Be Fought?

There are two ways to fight Adult Entertainment. One is with Zoning Codes. The second is with language but is that really true?

Not according to Wilber's Office. "You cannot make these businesses illegal. You cannot make it impossible for them either." Cynthia went on to say we do not want to create language stopping them from their rights.

They discussed a 6 month moratorium but Wilber's Office strongly suggested not going any longer than 60 days. Anything longer would be considered unconstitutional.

What I have found most interesting and most would not know is, Louise Smith ALWAYS sits back and waits for all other Council Members to chime in their input before she makes her call on each matter at hand. However, if Louise feels she can gain brownie points, she immediately chimes in front of the rest of the Council, (as she did on this matter last night) and said she wanted the moratorium before she went through everyone else first.

There seems to be a mad rush on this issue, even though I'm the one that brought it to every one's attention about a year ago. Is the City actually afraid that I'll open a Strip Club in the City? Remember the name, Hose & Polls? That went way back to when I wanted to buy Station 16, still do.

Anyhow, I'm glad to see they're finally moving forward on this matter because it's long overdue. Don't reinvent the wheel. Use language from Ocean City and other municipalities to help guide Salisbury. If Wilber has his way he'll create all new rules at the expense of the City Taxpayers. This would be completely wrong IMO. It's the ABM, (All Bout Money) Gang all over again.

Winter Wonderland Of Lights

Ladies & Gentlemen, on a positive note, Saturday at 4:00 PM the City of Salisbury will once again kick off the Winter Wonderland of Lights. The event will have live music, dancing, food and I'm even told Santa will arrive for that laundry list of presents our children might ask for this year. Don't forget OUR TROOPS overseas!

Government In The Sunshine My Ass!

It seems that Louise Smith can't stand the minority opinion. Any time Debbie Campbell or Terry Cohen, (the minority) say anything any more, it's too lengthy and rhetoric.

Last night Louise Smith allowed Gary Comegys to interrupt both Campbell & Cohen during the first two agenda items. Please Louise, do go back to the tapes, (like you did against Dot Truitt) and confirm what I'm saying.

At the beginning of the meeting Louise Smith asked everyone to please turn off their cell phones. Yet smack dab in the middle of the meeting Gary Comegys received a telephone call and got up from his seat, walked out of the room and answered the call. NOT only that, John Pick immediately got up out of his seat and walked out of the room telling Gary to quiet it down because he was that loud!

Louise seems to be ONE to only follow rules when it suits her, we shouldn't forget that! Then Louise Smith sat quietly in her seat while a Citizen accused Campbell & Cohen of selling their souls for 30 pieces of silver during Budget time when they were trying to make cuts, REMEMBER THAT? Then she has the nerve to send Dot Truitt a letter like she did recently!!!!!

I also recall Louise Smith allowing Jim Rapp and Chiefy Webster the opportunity to speak, (DEPARTMENT HEADS) when it was a DIRECT VIOLATION of the City Charter and THE LAW!

Her Code of Conduct is not only a joke, it's an insult to the Citizens of Salisbury! I am compelled to also say, Louise is trying to CRUSH two voices the Citizens, (YOU) elected and ultimately she's trying to take away YOUR voices!

I thought of something else each and every reader here will recall. Not only has the Administration painted Joe Albero out to be the Anti Christ through two lawsuits, remember when the former Council President Mike Dunn physically assaulted a 73 year old Grandmother, (Dot Truitt) by throwing brochures at her when she walked the College Ave. neighborhood. I guess you can't fault Louise for getting physical but the end result is the same, IMO.

My suggestion to all of you is to send the entire City Council a message how you feel. Take the time to let them know just how wrong they are. OUR/YOUR First Amendment Rights are being violated!

Don't just send Louise a message. Send it to the entire City Council so she can't say she never received it. sbycouncil@ci.salisbury.md.us

Congratulations Totmom!

You would think The Daily Times was a second edition of the new Blog Totmom as several of her stories were in today's paper.

It looks like the Staff can simply follow the lead of the Blogs now and not have to do any work. Instead of saying, "Don't Squeeze The Charmin" we should be saying, "DON'T COPY THE BLOGS"!

Today's Grapvine

"Negative blogs

I wish the media and the people would stand up against all of these negative blogs, or Web logs, that seek to define our community. They do not reflect our community at all. I'm fed up with all this negativism. Sometimes your Grapevine is almost as bad. When will people see the light?"

Do you see what Duvall has done to us Bloggers! Here I go out and spend all that time hitting the streets showing beautiful Wildlife Photos, Christmas pictures of the Plaza and so many wonderful things on the Eastern Shore and that nasty old Blogger destroys my reputation!

I agree Daily Times, get out there and slam this guy just like the Mayor did time and time again so people won't go to these nasty old Blogs! ROTFLMAO!

Look you Idiot! If YOU don't like the Blogs, don't go there! You said, "When will people see the light." What's the matter, does it bother you that bad knowing EVERY SINGLE PERSON you talk to goes to sbynews.blogspot.com?

The problem I see is that there are actually people out there with only half a brain that might look at that comment and think, I'll never go to the Blogs again. LMAO!

The Only Bull In Salisbury That Pays Off!

This past weekend Sherwood Ford held a contest in which contestants got to Ride The Bull and the one who lasted the longest won this car. It turns out they only had around 30 people get into the contest and a Jay Welker from Berlin actually won the vehicle. Looks like Car Dealers will do just about anything right now to get people onto their Lots!

SFD Found In Delaware Again!

As you can clearly see, the Salisbury Fire Department is enjoying the pleasure of using City vehicles all the way over the State Line into Delaware. Does this individual LIVE in Delaware? Have they been telling everyone they live in Maryland? This photo clearly PROVES this property is in fact in the State of Delaware! Is this a personal House Call in Delaware?

All I can tell you is, I DON'T LIKE IT! I'll also state, I smell a rat! If you're going to HEAD a Department in the City, YOU NEED TO LIVE IN THE CITY! To take money from one State and bring it to another, BS! Get your own damn car then! ACCOUNTABILITY!

You want to screw with the Taxpayers Louise, we're coming right back at you then!

NOTE: The first photo shows the rear end of this Fire Vehicle in the driveway as well as the Delaware State Line marker.

Accountability My Ass!

Louise, I have had just about enough of your crap any more! Are YOU telling Dot Truitt you ARE in fact taking away her Freedom of Speech? HOW DARE YOU and this MAYOR do everything you possibly can to take away every one's First Amendment Rights!

So a Citizen that is a TAXPAYER who pays YOUR salary and Paul Wilber's does NOT have the right to speak their mind, even though they never actually personally attacked them? I'd say it's all about SHOW any more Louise. YOU don't care about the Citizens and the fact that they're sick of this Administration. We're talking about a PRODUCTION on PAC14, that's what you guys are all worried about.

Well guess what? There are thousands upon thousands of people that visit this Blog each and every day and we're constantly growing. People are learning quickly that my voice isn't that of the bad guy the Mayor wants everyone to believe I am. The evidence is floating to the top and we are being heard as well as respected.

You keep up these BS letters like this and I can assure you I will provide people like Dot Truitt with Legal Council and we will come after the City and sue for OUR First Amendment Rights. The money is not the object here Louise, just as I am NOT counter suing the Mayor or Chief Webster. It's about what is right and the mere fact that we have to play roles for your television show is over the top and will be stopped immediately.

You owe Dot Truitt an apology Louise Smith as you are legally out of line. Keep up the BS Mayor Tlghman as we all know who's behind all of this.

KEEPING UP APPEARANCES

You folks sure missed an Oscar-worthy performance tonight at the city council work session by none other than Ms. Accountability, Louise Smith.

Her entourage entered a few minutes before the meeting should have ended just to catch the grand performance. (Hell, they didn't know what was on the agenda, just ask Ron Alessi. And THIS wasn't even on the agenda!)

Poor Louise. The meeting ran past her alloted time (again), leaving her groupies to warm their seats longer than planned. You see, those nasty council members just took too long discussing stupid things like annexation problems and about $3 million dollars for a stormwater project that's been sitting in the hopper, what, about 2 years? Bubba alone took up all the council's portion of the first agenda item's whopping 15 minutes about an annexation without a plan.

But finally, the curtain went up and Louweasel talked about council members' behavior at meetings. How UNITY is what the voters want! How members should adhere to the rules! That council time was not to be spent on philosophizing, monopolizing or grandstanding! And no questions, I mean, attacks on staff.

Louweasel chided council members for not performing their ceremonial duties. She scolded them about their committee assignments. And then she adjourned the meeting because there wasn't any more business, even though you could read the faces of two council members that oh, yes, there was.

First, isn't it a tiny bit hypocritical to pull a grandstanding, philosophizing, monopolizing speech on grandstanding, philosophizing and monopolizing for the entire "general discussion" portion of the agenda, for an audience that arrived just to hear their master's voice, then close the meeting down so nobody else but the city administrator got to speak?

And what is with this "do your ceremonial duties"? Where the hell in the Salisbury Charter or any other city document are the council members directed to perform ceremonial duties?

Hey, Louise, how about performing your FIDUCIARY duties, woman! You know, all that ACCOUNTABILITY stuff you GRANDSTANDED about during your campaign? Have you noticed the audit is LATE AGAIN?

Oh, but that's not what's important. Ceremonies and short meetings and shows of unity -- that's what Salisbury citizens want. NOT!

Let's face it, folks. It's all about "Keeping Up Appearances" with Louise. Did she care that the Cindy MacDonald from Paul Wilber's office was trying to generate some more billing for their firm by calling for study after study to put a leash on adult shops until Terry Cohen pointed out that the documents Cindy and Paul provided quoted the Supreme Court about it being okay to use other cities' studies, thereby making this a faster solution to get to?

Or how about after Debbie Campbell suggested and the other three members and annexation guru Chris Jakubiak agreed that a full day's session on the annexation agreements would be a good idea to move on. Did Louweasel want to spend the time? No, in repeating the consensus, she said "full day or HALF day," single-handedly trying to change what everyone else was good with.

After all, folks, we can't have REAL council duties interfering with our ceremonial duties!

This is what goes on with a holiday week work session, folks. Let's do it when none of the citizens can pay attention. Let's abuse our presidency and the rules and invent new ones while we spank other members about rules. Let's call anything we don't want to hear "grandstanding" and grandstand about it. Let's shorten the meetings and cut off real discussion so we can grandstand and then adjourn the meeting.

This woman is out of control, Salisbury! Wake up and get doing something about it. It was one of the most ridiculous and un-American things I've witnessed in a long time.
