Opinion/Editorial
Joe Albero has sued our City and bragged about how his (obviously healthy enough) wife got the biggest workman's compensation award in the history of Maryland. Why does he rub this stuff in my face???? I am a taxpayer in the City of Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland. Joe Albero has taken money out of the taxpayers dollars pockets to fund his indulgent and obnoxious life style. He brags about making people lose their jobs. He will insult absolutely anyone. He gave a F/U to the Holy Scripture when we post it. The man has no respect or common decency.
Last week I watched the fires in California. GOD BLESS ALL FIRE RIGHTERS & EMERGENCY PERSONEL & LAW ENFORCEMENT. I lived there for three years just off Camp Pendleton. Fallbrook burned and is right next to an under ground a weapons station. The Marine were fighting the fires on the base. Imagine if you will-- the I-5 & the 405 split. 12 Lanes of South Bound traffic headed North as well as the North Bound traffic going north. The whole place is burning down. What a nightmare! It must have seemed like Armageddon. Fire Fighters, They earn every bit of their pay and then some. There isn't enough money to equal the value of having these fine brave men and women, black or white, to protect us.
As for Mike Lewis. I read about the new cruisers . . . Wicomico County has the BEST COP CARS IN THE WHOLE STATE OF MARYLAND. They are sharp, fast, state of the art. How much did this cost me in tax dollars? Do we really need all of this?? Suddenly--I realized that we do! Mike Lewis bought all of this equipment to protect us from the likes of Joe Albero. We are very fortunate that our tax dollars are being spent to protect us. I will sleep much better tonight. Salisbury, Maryland, Wicomico County, the State of Maryland was a better place was better before he came here. As taxpayers we must insist that this man stop harassing our elected leaders and more importantly out citizens. Joe Albero causes discord where ever he goes. JOE ALBERO IS A PUBLIC NUISANCE.! I say we stand up for the Mayor and the Chief of Police! Many of the anti-bloggers have experienced the exact type of abuse Tilghman and Webster have. We can get on the TV news! If we make a big enough show of it we would make national. Joe Albero will be known world wide for being a dispicable pig, and he will probably enjoy it. MY FRIENDS WE WILL NOT ONLY BE VINDICATED BUT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US CAN BE MSM!!!
Kirk Dougherty if the Chief of Police over there in Snow Hill. Hee! Hee! Hee! Think about it.

And you thought I had too much time on my hands. ROTFLMAO!

Unbelievable Comments

Ladies & Gentlemen,

I want to warn you right here and now that I am about to direct you to one of the comments I just received. IF you cannot handle VERY harsh statements and words, DON'T EVEN THINK OF GOING THERE!

However, if you can stomach the abuse we have received for months now and read it, you'll quickly see why so many have walked away from the Blogs and or any challenges this Administration has put on others in the past.

They attack you personally, your family and anything close to you JUST TO SHUT YOU UP! Well, I'm NOT going to fold. People who have run for Office in the City have had to deal with this same sort of mentality.

Scroll down to the Post A Record Sunday and read the 4th comment. Remember, it's nasty, so if you don't have the nerve for it, DON'T GO THERE!

After you read it, then think to yourself, just who would do such a thing?

The Clip-Board™ Improves the Presentation of Billboard Posters

The Eco-Posters are one seamless printed substrate. Each poster is printed from start-to-finish on the same printer at the same time providing uniform color and quality.

The image quality is entirely comparable to that of current flex-faces, and is not affected by weather conditions. Glue-free posters won't flag, pop, flake or haze.
Eco-Poster will be available for essentially the same cost as current poster papers.
Greatly improved poster presentation will increase occupancy and support higher rates.

Clip-Board frames are available in white, gray and cedar/tan.

The Eco-Poster Provides Tremendous Quality and Environmental Benefits

The brightness of Eco-Posters is substantially greater than any available poster paper.

Eco-Poster material is 100% polyethylene, the most commonly and easily recycled plastic.

This is one of the plastic materials that many corporations, municipalities, and environmental organizations are supporting as an alternative to polyvinylchloride (PVC).

A weight reduction from 40-pound wet-paper-posters to 5-pound One-Piece-Posters reduces occupational hazards and related injuries.

Dramatic Improvement to Operational Efficiency

Posters are delivered ready for installation enabling faster posting cycles and shorter and more frequent showings. The Eco-Posters can be replaced in less than 10 minutes.

The Clip-Board frame can be easily installed in less than an hour. Installation training is extremely simple which greatly increases the labor pool of prospective bill posters. A cross-trained staff will provide plants with greater posting capacity and flexibility.

The Clip-Board eliminates the use and cost of paste, the paste room, related personnel, health and related environmental regulatory issues.

The Clip-Board system provides an opportunity to establish efficient and standardized installation methods throughout an organization.

The elimination of adhesives is expected to increase the life of steel poster panels and greatly reduce the expense of their replacement.

"Joe, I certainly am not very happy ( as a matter of fact, I cringe…) when I see any of our structures looking the way you’re blog depicted the billboards this morning. But I can assure you when I see or hear about it we address it immediately. In the near future (because once the new system is in place, we should’nt have these issues) if you see any of our billboards looking “shoddy” please give me a call and I will get it corrected at once."

Bill Clinton's Military Career

Bill Clinton registers for the draft on September 08, 1964, accepting all contractual conditions of registering for the draft. Selective Service Number is 326 46 228.

Bill Clinton classified 2-S on November 17, 1964.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on March 20, 1968.

Bill Clinton ordered to report for induction on July 28, 1969.

Bill Clinton refuses to report and is not inducted into the military.

Clinton signs enlistment papers and takes oath of enlistment.

Bill Clinton fails to report to his duty station at the University of Arkansas ROTC, September 1969.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on October 30, 1969, as enlistment with Army Reserves is revoked by Colonel E. Holmes and Clinton now AWOL and subject to arrest under Public Law 90-40 (2) (a) registrant who has failed to report...remain liable for induction.

Bill Clinton's birth date lottery number is 311, drawn December 1, 1969, but anyone who has already been ordered to report for induction is INELIGIBLE!

Bill Clinton runs for Congress (1974), while a fugitive from justice under Public Law 90-40.

Bill Clinton receives pardon on January 21, 1977, from President Carter.

Bill Clinton becomes the FIRST PARDONED FEDERAL FELON ever to serve as President of the United States.

All these facts come from Freedom of Information requests, public laws, and various books that have been published, and have not been refuted by Clinton.

After the 1993 World Trade Center Place Type bombing, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. Military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. Military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1998 bombing of U.S. Embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. Sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible be hunted down and punished.

Maybe if Clinton had kept those promises, an estimated 3,000 people in New York and Washington, DC. Who are now dead would be alive today.

THINK ABOUT IT! It is a strange turn of events. Hillary gets $8 Million for her forthcoming memoir. Bill gets about $12 Million for his memoir yet to be written. This from two people who spent 8 years being unable to recall anything about past events while under oath.

Sincerely, Cdr. Hamilton McWhorter USN (ret)

Urban Salisbury & Parker Place Halloween Rained Out

As many of you saw full page ads in The Daily Times, lots of money was spent for a pumpkin carving event that flopped due to the rain.

Sadly, Urban Salisbury called the event off before they did any real research into the weather because I was told by my neighbor last Thursday, (who is a Farmer) the rain would end Saturday at Noon.

Granted, it was pretty cool to see the rain was in fact over at that time, (can't beat luck) and although this event was to go on between 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, they called it off.

I stopped by, thinking there would be some really cool shots to take of every one's work and no one was there. I walked inside and asked Anne Taylor what was going on and that's when I came to learn Urban Salisbury had called it off.

Anne did let me know that there weren't many kids that showed up anyway, since no one announced the cancellation of it on the News. Well no mater what, my hat is tipped to ALL involved. This was a fantastic idea and hopefully the County can pick up on it next year and hold an INDOOR event inside the Civic Center for everyone in the County to get involved??????? HINT, HINT!

So thank you Taylor Family and thank you Urban Salisbury. "A" for effort!

My New Car!

I bought a new CADILLAC DTS and returned to the dealer the next day because I couldn't get the radio to work. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated.

"Nelson," the salesman said to the radio.

The Radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?"

"Willie!" he continued and 'On the Road Again' came from the speakers. Then he said, "Ray Charles!" and in an instant 'Georgia on My Mind' replaced Willie Nelson.

I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven," I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles," I'd get one of their awesome songs.

Yesterday, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new car, but I swerved in time to avoid them. I yelled, "Assholes !" Immediately the French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand , backed up by Michael Moore and The Dixie Chicks , with John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Harry Reid on spoons, Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on scotch.

Damn, I LOVE this car!

O'MALLEY TAX HIKE AN "UNNECESSARY" RIP-OFF

A number of years ago, during the Glendening Administration, Forbes Magazine characterized Maryland as a "tax hell." At the time, Governor Glendening was gleefully spending sixty cents for every forty cents the state received in revenue income. Obviously, Maryland was also a "spending hell."

Recently, a Wall Street Journal editorial proclaimed that Maryland's Governor Martin O'Malley was on a tax increase a day statewide tour. The reputable national newspaper expressed sympathy for Maryland's taxpayers. After the O'Malley tour was completed, the final wreckage included ten new tax hikes, costing a minimum of 2.5 billion dollars the first year.

The tragic reality about this assault on a Marylander's family budget is the fact that new taxes are "unnecessary." The real solution is to simply reduce new spending. By increasing spending by only 2% would eliminate about 1 billion dollars from the present deficit. The Governor's proposals include 2 billion in new spending which is a 9% increase. Furthermore, a sensible slots plan with advanced mandated payment for licensing fees would wipe out the remainder of the deficit.

Frankly, the "O'Malley tax hike" will cost 25 billion dollars over the next 10 years. The deficit during that time period is projected to be only 7 billion. Taxpayers should ask, "Why do we need an extra 18 billion out of our pockets?" The answer is obvious. Maryland politicians have always been inflicted by a communicable disease known as "spending mania." Democrat leadership in Annapolis has increased spending by 15 billion dollars in the last 10 years. In the last session of the General Assembly, the Democrat leadership cut only 200 million from the O'Malley budget. The Governor balanced the budget by raiding the emergency rainy day fund and by withdrawing 1.2 billion dollars.

Governor O'Malley has used shameful "class warfare" rhetoric falsely claiming only the rich will bear the burden of his massive tax hike. The increased income tax for the so-called rich (people earning more than $150,000) will guarantee only 170 million dollars in new funds. The other 1.5 billion dollars in tax revenue that O'Malley claims he needs will come from the wallets of working people, middle class families, and seniors. The super sales tax, vehicle title tax, permanent gas tax, and other regressive increases will penalize taxpayers at about $585 per household.

The two most "evil" tax hikes proposed by the governor are the super sales tax and the permanent gas tax increase. A 20% increase in the sales tax and expansion into the service industry will rob the Maryland private economy of more than a billion dollars. Clearly, two-thirds of our state economic engine is consumer spending. The super sales tax hike is a tax on consumer spending that will reduce economic growth and kill jobs. The reputable financial services company Ernst & Young have confirmed that O'Malley's proposals will cause a loss of jobs in Maryland.

At a time when record gas prices are strangling our citizens' cost of living spending abilities, the new O'Malley gas tax is very dangerous. This tax hike is permanent and will increase automatically every year. The governor and the politicians in Annapolis will not even be required to vote on the annual increases. The gas tax creates a spending "honeypot," financed on the backs of families and seniors, while negatively impacting all segments of our state's economy.

The O'Malley tax hikes create a minimum of ten new tax increases and is the largest in the history of our state. Maryland will jump from the third highest income tax in America to number one. Our most productive citizens, retirees, and small business owners will continue to vote with their feet and flee Maryland. Montgomery County, America's richest county, has lost 52,000 of its citizens in the past 5 years because of oppressive tax policies. Three years ago, New Jersey politicians passed a 2 billion dollar tax hike which caused an economic slowdown and dramatically decreased revenues resulting in a new 4 billion dollar deficit. The power to tax is the power to destroy, not only individuals' financial security, but an entire state's economy.

Ten years ago, our neighboring state Virginia's democrat governor, Douglas Wilder, eliminated a record 2 billion dollar deficit without raising taxes. Governor Pawlenty of Minnesota vetoed 5 billion dollars in new taxes created by the state legislature and still managed to balance the budget. The O'Malley tax hike, tragically unnecessary, is a financial nuclear strike against the people and economy of our great state.

The Daily Times Does It Again!

GO HERE Ladies & Gentlemen and see the Front Page article in today's Paper that I put out 2 months ago!!!!!

Do these people have no pride whatsoever? Tell me if you remember that article?

TO ALL HANDICAPPED CITIZENS OF SALISBURY

This would also include ALL parents pushing strollers with small children in them, bicyclists and or couples enjoying a walk around town while holding hands, Salisbury Does NOT Want You!

The photo above is the sidewalk DIRECTLY along Rt. 50 in which you have to step into the roadway in order to get by. It's a serious blind spot, (believe it or not) and you can't be quick enough to go around this overgrown brush and get back onto the sidewalk if you're let's say, pushing a stroller.

There are many things wrong in the City but to me, this is a priority. Wouldn't you agree?

By the way, I'm being VERY fair with this photo. I could have stood all the way over to the left and made it look far worse. That being said, FIX IT!

Imagine if this were Rt. 50 instead of a sidewalk? Let's just say 75% of the roadway was blocked by a overgrown tree. Let's also say the tree limbs scratched the side of your car as you went by too. Yeah, my guess is that people would be a bit frustrated, eh? To some, these sidewalks ARE their only access to get to and from and this is completely irresponsible.

The Old Mall Is More Than 50% Gone

No mater what controversy is to be said about the future of the Old Mall, that puppy is just about gone. I have to also say, this has to be some of the finest work I have ever personally seen.

Do you see mud and dirt all over the streets? Do you see trash a debris all over the surrounding area? These are nice, neat piles of debris that are strategically being laid out to be recycled.

In one of the photos you can clearly see the east side of the Old Mall is completely gone. I tip my hat to the owners of this property as they have clearly hired a professional company that does quality work.

Thank You for considering the property owners around you. It's certainly far more than the City of Salisbury would have provided.

N.C. Beach House Fire Kills 7 Students

By PAGE IVEY

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - All that was left Monday of a home where college students had gathered to enjoy fleeting beach weather was a charred shell, leaving family and friends to question how a weekend of fun turned into a fire that killed seven.

Clearchannel Sucks!

Not only is this Billboard Sign out of control, many just like it are located all around the City of Salisbury and they are not being properly managed.

Once a contract seems to be over, the Billboard Company waits until someone comes along to rent it again and until they do, they just let it go and fall to pieces. In the mean time, there's litter everywhere and quite frankly, it looks like Da Bronx in New York City or even better, Newark New Jersey on the Jersey Turnpike!

I have posted this in the past and obviously whatever threats the City is making on Clearchannel isn't working, so it's time for some new legislation whereas the City can simply fine them for LITTERING????????

If this were a residential property, oh, let's say on the West side of the City, the fines would be through the roof. You know, just enough so the people there couldn't afford it and the City could pick up that home for nothing because the people can't afford the fines.

Let's see if the City will act on this and see if they actually fine these people?

Salisbury Is All Clogged Up

As I was going around the City of Salisbury this weekend I couldn't help but notice every drain I came across was completely clogged up. Engineers design these systems to make sure things like this don't happen, yet around here they do.

Why? Because they're not just clogged on the surface. They're clogged underneath as well. This is what we would call, preventive maintenance. You send a crew around the City checking each and every one of these to make sure this doesn't happen.

However, why would the City not want to do so? Perhaps they can't handle the LOAD??? Perhaps there is still far too much volume flowing into the WWTP? We all know the River was overflowing even onto Main Street the other day. Imagine if all the drains were clear!

Do the City a favor Ladies & Gentlemen. If there's a drain in front of your property, clear it for the City and watch what happens. It will be kind of like everyone flushing their toilet at Noon on a Saturday in the City. The WWTP would shut down.

A Record Sunday

The news of being the #1 Blogger in the State certainly shook up the numbers here at Salisbury News! We experienced a record high for a Sunday and it's good to see we're off to a strong start for a Monday as well.

Thanks for all the support Ladies & Gentlemen. We'll be going back to normal where Posts are concerned this week and I've actually been entertaining the thought of going to moderation, yet allowing anonymous comments?

The reason for such is, I'm so close to the computer on a regular basis, comments would get processed within seconds anyway. On the other side of the coin, with a new future ahead of us this week, we need to be more careful about who says what and what gets published.

So I'm going to give it a try for today and see how things work out. I can always remove it at any time but let's hear what you have to say about it?

Our Monday Message From Senator Andy Harris

Friends,

Tonight, the Special Session of the Maryland General Assembly will begin. I want to give you the scope on something I am proposing later today.

Later today, I will announce I am proposing a Constitutional Amendment requiring two-thirds of the legislature to approve increasing taxes or imposing new taxes. During this Special Session, I will oppose all new tax increases. I believe that taking money from Maryland's working families should be done only with overwhelming approval from legislators. Making it harder to raise taxes protects Marylanders, our economy, and our future.

Taxpayers need protection from runaway spending habits and the powerful influence of special interests with their hands always out in Annapolis. The liberal special interest groups who feed on taxpayer dollars are well-funded and organized. Advertising for their own issues on radio, television, and over the internet for the last few weeks, these groups have urged legislators to raise taxes. Despite these groups advocacy for higher taxes, I know my constituents are average taxpayers, busy working and raising their families. I'm in Annapolis to speak for the average Maryland family who is already over-taxed. I'm trying to do all I can to stop these proposed tax increases, as well as ones that loom in the future if the legislature's over-spending goes unchecked. Marylanders should have the same taxpayer protection from tax increases that citizens of other states already have.

There was a very good post on this site listing the number of jobs leaving the Lower Shore. If the tax increases before the legislature are approved, more jobs will leave this state.

I have spent the last couple entries talking about issues facing the state government in Maryland for a specific reason. I believe as voters are considering who to vote for in this First Congressional District Primary, they should examine my record in the Maryland State Senate and Congressman Gilchrest's record. As a State Senator, I have a record of fiscal responsibility and Congressman Gilchrest has a record of voting for higher taxes and billions of dollars in wasteful government spending. I think when people have the choice between a person who will do everything in their power to protect their wallet and someone who has no respect for tax-payer dollars, they will choose the person who protects them every time. I do everything possible protect tax-payer dollars if I am elected to Congress just as I am trying to protect taxpayer dollars while in the State Senate.

Thanks,

Andy
