After years of controversy, the NFL team formerly known as the Washington Redskins has finally abandoned its moniker, simultaneously beloved by its fandom and loathed by white progressives and SJWs across the US. But with the 2020-2021 season just a month away, the team has decided that - until a more suitable name can be chosen - it will be going by "the Washington Football Team."
Effective immediately, Washington will call itself the “Washington Football Team”, pending adoption of a new name, sources tell ESPN.

The team added that it's still in the process of "retiring" its former name; it's hoping to have scrubbed the moniker from all physical and digital spaces belonging to the team within 50 days, hopefully before the team's Sept. 13 regular-season opener against Philly.

ReplyDeleteI have been a fan since I could watch TV. The wife laughs at me when they are 1-15 or even 6-9 (whatever). She has asked me for a couple of years what it would take to find a new team. I told her I was a fan for life. Seems that I lied. I just cant rout for the Cowgirls though. What a shame. I cant be the only person out there that is giving up on football. The Washington Football Team.....the best that you could come up with. Why move away from the Redskins in the first place...because of a few noisy people. I hope the real fans...the majority of people who did not find the name offensive, make noise during the season by not showing up or watching
