Lawmakers struck a $2 trillion stimulus deal early Wednesday that includes sending checks directly to individuals amid the coronavirus crisis — but it will likely take until at least May before the money goes out.
Under the plan as it was being negotiated, single Americans would receive $1,200, married couples would get $2,400, and parents would see $500 for each child under age 17.
However, the payments would start to phase out for individuals with adjusted gross incomes of more than $75,000, and those making more than $99,000 would not qualify at all. The thresholds are doubled for couples.

Uh, we need money for THIS MONTH'S bills, DUH1 May? I'll be in collections by then, credit ruined, loans cancelled, less ability ti borrow. But that's okay. As long as the big corporations and airlines are saved tomorrow, I'll fall on my sword for them.

DeleteWhy do people who have continuity of pay get a check? That seems rather wasteful. Also...why do people who live on the welfare system get a check just for having kids? Don't we pay enough for them in food, housing, electricity, etc with our taxes?

ReplyDeleteHow does this work for people already on welfare? Why isn't the amount adjusted for the cost of living in the different areas in the country? A person making 50K in Kansas might be doing very well, a person making 50K in NYC is barely living above the poverty line.
They already screwed up the math where people on Unemployment plus stimulus would be making more than if they were working.
The Government is giving the Federal Reserve 2 trillion to use carte blanche. I want to really know why that is being done?????
