EL PASO, Texas (KDBC) -- Children of U.S. service members outside the United States will no longer be automatically considered citizens, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The policy alert was issued Wednesday stating the new requirements to obtain citizenship for children of U.S. government employees and members of the U.S. armed forces employed or stationed outside the United States.
USCIS said beginning Oct. 29, parents will have to apply for citizenship on their child’s behalf.
