Popular vote bill on way to Gov. Carney

The National Popular Vote bill is on its way to Gov. John Carney after the Delaware House approved the measure on a party line vote.

The Senate approved the measure last week, 14 to 7 and the House okayed the bill on a party line vote.

If the bill is signed by Carney,Delaware would become part of an interstate compact whose memberswould pledge their electoral votes to thepresidential candidate wins the majority of the national popular vote.

The compact would become active when its members’ collective electoral votes total at least 270– the minimum needed to secure a presidential victory.

  5. I hope there are enough constitution-wise states to prevent this.

If this comes about, LA, NY and Detroit will be making all of the decisions for the country - and we can already see how well they are doing for themselves!

  9. Little Delaware is a complete beneficiary of the Electoral College and the Constitution as ratified and amended.

Lower Slower's accuracy as a term is absolutely shown by the rank, partisan idiots who voted for this measure. They will rue the day.

  11. Popular vote bills are unconstitutional, and can't pass constitutional muster. They nullify the intent of the electoral college that gives ALL states equal representation in the selection of our presidents, and not just the most populous states. Our forefathers were smart enough to know the most populous states would try to hog all the power for themselves; hence the electoral college. We are 50 United States, not just a handfull of the most populous states. Poor Delaware has leaders that are too stupid (and Democrat) to realize that the electoral college benefits THEM, as they are not a highly populous state.
