Breaking News: Anthony Bourdain, whose memoir about the dark corners of New York's restaurants started a TV career, died at 61. CNN said the cause was suicide.

The travel host Anthony Bourdain, whose memoir “Kitchen Confidential” about the dark corners of New York’s restaurants started a career in television, died on Friday at 61.

For the past several years, Mr. Bourdain hosted the show “Parts Unknown” on CNN and was working on an episode in Strasbourg, France, when he died, the network said Friday morning. He killed himself in a hotel room, the network said.

  1. I'm in shock in hearing this news. I have always loved watching all of his programs and learning about the people and food culture over every country he visited.
    I know he was a liberal, and didn't agree with his politics, but still loved his shows and his love for life and great food. He lived a full life and could have gone on and done more. Very sad end.
