Why should this warning be put up. If these construction companies are not going by laws and codes, and could cost someones life, they should be caught. Not allowed to fix it for a day.
9:46, Well maybe their staff shouldn't open their big mouths. When O'Malley was in office he used OSHA to fine companies millions upon millions of dollars and even hired a bunch of new inspectors that had to cover their salaries in fines or they'd lose their jobs. They sit back a mile away with binoculars and nail the heck out of companies and quite frankly it's about time these companies got a heads up for once.
While I'm pretty sure I know who you are, I don't care. Send them after me. I have every right to publish such information. I've broken no laws.
To the companies out there, (especially in the Ocean City area) be sure to spread the word. You're welcome.
If the companies are doing the right thing and employee safety is a concern of theirs, then OSHA inspections shouldn't be a problem. They should only be afraid of OSHA if they're breaking the laws and risking employee or public safety.
9:55, You should keep your mouth shut. Until you are subjected to these OSHA fines, (in the 10's of thousands of dollars) then and only then should you speak out.
The owners of these companies do stress to their employees to follow OSHA rules but many employees do not follow the rules and in the end the owner of the company is fined.
OSHA needs to go after the employee for once. Can I get a, Hell Yeah?
You are all wrong it, is MOSA a Maryland state agency. And yes Joe you are correct they should punish the employees if they are not following the laws.
Joe I would agree the challenges you can’t ever be right with OSHA. No matter how good your safety program they will find the smallest items and find you big dollars. I can appreciate a safe workplace but when it becomes a A vehicle to create revenue that when it A vehicle to create revenue that when it Makes everyone angry
Hell no. It's the employer who has the responsibility for the safety of their employees. Employees who will not follow the rules should be fired as they are a danger not only to themselves but their fellow employees. The employer has ultimate responsibility and also the liability for safety in the workplace.
Thank you Joe, If people are concerned about safety then this heads up will help. Just like parking an empty patrol car is specific areas reduce moving violations and thus enhance safety. Smart government would get the word out that there maybe an influx of agents when there isn't to keep folks on their toes and in complience without costing tax dollars.
1:10, If OSHA is in fact so converned they'r be greatful this message is out there soas workers and companies are in fact on their toes, That should be priority one for both parties.
OSHA = another form of stealing (taxation) You will never, ever comply with the rules they create. They always find something wrong. Unless you hire a retired inspector that is in the know, then they overlook everything. It's detramental to the small guy. It isn't abouy safety at all.
Maybe they NEED to inspect these companies. Half or more of them hire undocumented citizens to keep their profits thick, and/or hire people as "subcontractors" to avoid any responsibility while making money off of their chicanery. A friends son recently lost his eye to a construction accident and this sleazeball ex boss of his has spent more time and money fighting his WC claims this way. When are we going to start penalizing all these shitty business owners who get rich off of risking their employees lives with unsafe equipment or work practices?
Like it or not... my experience is that most employers don't give a hoot about employee safety.. until someone gets hurt that is.. and then they put on a good show for the inspectors.. but then it's right back to business as usual.
Like it or not... Osha helps to keep things a bit balanced.
1:00 That is absolutely not true. They roll up on your jobsite whenever they want. We have been in construction for 20 years and have NEVER received advanced warning.
Is that interfering with a govt agency ?.

Joe- OSHA does fine the employee. Trust me.
DeleteAlso to those that are complaining about the warning-
OSHA can fine a worker on an accusation. Most of the rules make sense and are meant to keep you safe- some are just not.
A MOSH agent told me during an inspection, "It's NOT about safety, it's about COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW."
ReplyDeleteThat's why they suck. They are not about protecting anything or any body. They are all about protecting their PAYCHECKS.

ReplyDeleteBut they won't be visiting any chicken processing plants.
ReplyDeleteOSHA can levy huge fines for extremely small infractions and ruin a persons life, They are bullies.
ReplyDeleteGood

ReplyDeleteDammit, where did we put all those safety glasses, earplugs and dust masks?
ReplyDeleteThey are government thugs just like cops. Money, money, money, wait.......safety?..... no. money!
ReplyDeleteI hope I.C.E. comes instead
ReplyDeleteLike the California mayor who ratted on ICE before a raid ?
Delete3:54____Spot on!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere is George Chevallier's interesting & historic article? Sure hope you still have more to print.
ReplyDeleteTen thousand dollar fine could be imposed for an extension cord without a ground pin.
ReplyDeleteMight need to suggest they stop a trader lees.
ReplyDeleteIts all about the money. Has nothing to do with safty. Just like the police, all about the money.

The general contractor is responsible for all subs. However, for the ones that use illegals I have no sympathy.
