A Viewer Writes: Bad Public Trans.Driver 1-11-17

Today at 5:05pm on Riverside Drive between Pinehurst and College I witnessed a PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION BUS PASSING another car that was driving approximately 30 mph. The auto driving in the opposite direction (heading towards town) had to slow down to prevent a head-on collision. The bus # was 78 and the plate # was LG87001. This driver was doing his route through Pinebluff Village. I followed him as he drove through Pinebluff blowing through ALL the stop signs in there. He is reckless and needs to be FIRED!

Please note: their are NO passing zones anywhere on this stretch of road, the road was much better than it was yesterday but definitely not clear, and the speed limit is 30 mph in good weather.

  3. You need a reprimand also. Look how close your vehicle is on the back of the vehicle ahead of you. Un badged road cops are the worse. Why were following him so long? Sounds like you are bending the truth and would not be surprised if you ran a few stop signs your self trying to police this driver. Why didnt you let the law handle it

  4. This picture doesn't prove anything. Why are you behind it if it ask someone in a no passing zone? How do we know if it's not somebody you have beef with? It's really easy to take a picture of the vehicle and create your own make-believe story for attention.

  5. There's two sides to this story. I'm sure if you called a supervisor at Shore Transit they would reprimand the driver. If you were truly concerned why not call the police or ST immediately?

  9. From the comments, it just goes to show you. Don't bother doing the right thing, because the ridiculous idiots will come out of the woodwork and attack you.

Wait till someone gets killed, then they will all be "why didn't you do something about it!"

  10. Calling the police probably would not produce any results as they would need to see this in action and the driver probably looking for police. Contacting the business is probably the best solution. However, I have known business owners to laugh about people calling in about their drivers.
Personally I feel there needs to be some way of addressing without government cameras everywhere. I am tired of people speeding and driving recklessly and putting other peoples lives at risk. SOME FedEx drivers are the worst!! I get it you are busy and want to get home, but so does everyone else. I think the best solution would be very ordinary unmarked police cars.

  11. Maybe instead of taking the time to use your cell phone to snap a picture while you were driving, you could have used your cell phone and called the transportation company to let them know how their buses were being operated.

If you look close you will see that the bus has his brake lights illuminated. And he is really close to the curb. That tells me it is stopped.

You actually asked why he is behind the bus? Good grief.

  14. Transit buses are followed by a supervisor, quite often as a matter of fact. If this driver was doing everything you claim, then why not call the office immediately. Not saying he/she wasn't doing what you claim, but why make all transit drivers look like we drive without regard for life!!

  15. Shore transit can't keep good help. Roy is this so-called supervisor but don't know what the hell he is doing.

  16. People like you burn me up. Jobs aren't that easy to find and you want to take away this person's and possibly his family's only source of income just like that. Mind your own business.

Drivers such as this one are responsible for the safe transport of people. No matter what the employment situation is, riders safety is paramount and should always come first.

And I am sure this driver knows what the current state of employment is for his profession and should do everything in his/her power to do that job correctly and in the safest way possible.

Instead of vilifying this person who brought these unsafe acts to light, he should be commended.

  18. I've always felt the drivers appeared drunk. They all drive erratically. At least the ones I've seen do.

I agree. Most of the ones I see going by are not safe. I give them a wide berth.

  21. I was the third car behind you. You are correct, we were all going 30 mph and he did in fact pass the car illegally. I turned off and went home...

  23. I was on one years ago late one night from OC to Salisbury and the driver kept falling asleep. We almost went off the road twice.
