Hillary Clinton is “furious” at husband Bill Clinton, according to Washington insiders, after his name came up in the latest sex scandal involving his disgraced former pal Jeffrey Epstein.
Sources at the funeral of Mario Cuomo also said they saw a peevish-looking Hillary angrily “storm” past the former president after he dutifully waited for her by the door of St. Ignatius Loyola Church.
“Talk in Washington is that Hillary is furious with Bill about all this new information on Jeffrey Epstein,” said a DC insider familiar with both Epstein and the Clintons.
Bill’s name has popped up in 2011 court documents relating to Epstein after a woman said to be Virginia Roberts filed a bombshell suit alleging she was Epstein’s teen “sex slave” and paid $15,000 to bed Epstein’s pal, Britain’s Prince Andrew.

Dish Has Lost 90,000 Subs from Fox News Blackout
Tim Carry says Dish’s disconnect from Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network has been a costly one for the No. 2 DBS provider.
Carry, executive vice president of distribution for FNC and FBN, estimated that Dish has lost some 90,000 subscribers since the channels were removed from the provider's 14 million subscribers late on Dec. 20.
He based the total on the number of viewers that have reached out to the www.keepfoxnews.com website and 888-numbers, and others that have contacted Dish directly.

7 Ways Liberals Are Just As Bad As The People They Hate Most
“Words mean nothing to liberals. They say whatever will help advance their cause at the moment, switch talking points in a heartbeat, and then act indignant if anyone uses the exact same argument they were using five minutes ago.” — Ann Coulter
“It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.” -- Ronald Reagan
Liberals are the mirror image of everything they claim to hate. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds, their ability to unflinchingly examine their own beliefs is practically non-existent and they are almost incapable of objectively examining the policies they advocate. The more fully people become engulfed by liberalism, the more they embrace political correctness, groupthink, and close-mindedness until their thought process becomes little more than simplistic tribalism.
Liberalism is good, just, and best because it’s liberalism. Conservatism is bad, unjust, and worse because it’s conservatism. End of story.
Seldom do liberals realize that they advocate positions that are just as morally repulsive as the grotesque positions they habitually (and usually incorrectly) attribute to people who disagree with them.
Want some examples?

Judge slams Christian florist with personal liability
A judge in Washington state has slammed the grandmother who owns and operates Arlene’s Flowers with personal liability should she lose any of the lawsuits pending against her for adhering to her religious convictions and declining to celebrate and decorate for same-sex ceremonies.
The case against Barronelle Stutzman began when Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson sued the Richland, Washington, grandmother for operating her business according to the dictates of her Christian faith.
The issue is that in Washington, officials believe the state’s statutory protections for homosexuals trump the Constitution’s protection of religious liberty.

LABOR-PARTICIPATION RATE LOWEST IN 38 YEARS
NEW YORK – While President Obama plans in his upcoming State of the Union address to tout 5.6 percent unemployment in December as another sign of a “recovery” generated by his economic policies, a record 92.9 million Americans are no longer in the labor force, as the labor participation rate hit a new 38-year low last month, at 62.7 percent.
Adjusting the BLS unemployment number to report what is known as “U-6” – a measure that includes total unemployed plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force plus total part-time employed for economic reasons – unemployment in April was 11.2 percent.
Economist John Williams, editor of ShadowStats.com, a website known for arguing the government reports are manipulated for political purposes, has calculated that the “real unemployment rate” – taking into consideration those who have dropped out of the labor force because of lack of work – has remained above 23 percent since April 2013.

Right After A Teacher Humiliated This Girl, She Gave Him A Lesson He’ll Never Forget
From the look of the video it may seen like the student did something wrong. Once you translate the conversation you quickly realize the teacher is just mean.
Teacher: “Very well. Tell me… what lesson are we having today? What lesson did you come to? What lesson are we having today? Which?
Girl whispers: “English.”
Teacher: “English! Very good. And in the English language, are there any pronouns? Yes, there are. Tell me please, what is this?”

Obama Encourages Poor Work Ethic with ‘Depend on Government’ Attitude
A few days ago my wife and I were on a trip. It was early morning, and we stopped at a well-known fast food chain to get breakfast. We pulled up to the drive through only to be greeted by a surly, unhelpful voice that seemed to be irritated and bothered by customers who help pay her salary.
Now I'll admit that working the pre-dawn hours at a fast food window is not my idea of the ideal job, but if it happens to be the only one you have at the time, shouldn't you do it to the best of your ability in hopes that the powers that be will notice your attitude and move you on up the ladder when there is an opening available?
There is an attitude amongst a significant segment of American society that the reason the “haves,” have, and the “have nots,” have not, is an inequitable social system, whereby some people get all the perks and some people get none. It is their belief that the ones who succeed do so on the backs of those floundering around at the bottom of the economic ladder.

Egyptian president calls for 'revolution' in Islam
CAIRO (AP) - Egypt's president opened the new year with a dramatic call for a "revolution" in Islam to reform interpretations of the faith entrenched for hundreds of years, which he said have made the Muslim world a source of "destruction" and pitted it against the rest of the world.
The speech was Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi's boldest effort yet to position himself as a modernizer of Islam. His professed goal is to purge the religion of extremist ideas of intolerance and violence that fuel groups like al-Qaida and the Islamic State - and that appear to have motivated Wednesday's attack in Paris on a French satirical newspaper that killed 12 people.
But those looking for the "Muslim Martin Luther" bringing a radical Reformation of Islam may be overreaching - and making a false comparison to begin with. El-Sissi is clearly seeking to impose change through the state, using government religious institutions like the 1,000-year-old al-Azhar, one of the most eminent centers of Sunni Muslim thought and teaching.

Honda fined $70M for not reporting death, injury complaints
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration said Thursday it is fining Honda $70 million - the largest civil penalty levied against an automaker - for not reporting to regulators some 1,729 complaints that its vehicles caused deaths and injuries, and for not reporting warranty claims.
The Japanese automaker acknowledged in November that it failed to report the death and injury complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over an 11-year period beginning in 2003. The company admitted it learned of the omissions in 2011 but had waited three years to take action.
Honda also failed to report certain warranty claims and claims under customer satisfaction campaigns throughout the same period, federal officials said. The safety administration is imposing twin fines: $35 million for not reporting the death and injury complaints, and another $35 million for not reporting the warranty and customer satisfaction claims. Both fines are the maximums the agency is legally allowed to impose.

ACLU: Charters are resegregating Delaware schools
In a complaint filed Dec. 3 with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, the ACLU Delaware says the state of Delaware and the Red Clay Consolidated School District have allowed a segregated system to persist through charter school admission policies.
“When high performing charter schools (or vo-tech and magnet schools) admit a disproportionate number of higher-income white students with no disabilities, the local community public schools are left with the difficult and costly task of educating the students most challenged by poverty or special education needs,” said Kathleen MacRea, executive director of ACLU Delaware. “This system just about assures that schools in poor urban and poor rural areas will fail, and our children will suffer. The whole State of Delaware is worse off as a result.”

DE BLASIO BARRED FROM HANDLING GROUNDHOG AFTER KILLING LAST YEAR’S ANIMAL
After the disastrous Groundhog Day ceremony last year when New York Mayor Bill de Blasio dropped and killed the animal, Staten Island Zoo officials say they will not ask the mayor to handle this year’s groundhog.
Scandals and controversies ensued following last year’s debacle. First, the groundhog presented to the city as “Chuck” was really “Charlotte.” Worse, zoo officials seem to have tried to cover up that the animal died after Mayor de Blasio dropped it during the Groundhog Day ceremony.
According to reports in September of last year, the groundhog that de Blasio dropped died of the internal injuries that resulted from the fall, but zoo officials tried to avoid telling the Mayor’s office about the death.

Casino ejects nursing mom, invites wrath of Facebook
Two family members, armed with a bottle of pre-pumped milk, wanted to give new parents Alanna Panas and Chris Turnbull a break from 7-week old Lillian, and offered to take her on some errands while the couple relaxed a little at the Casino at Ocean Downs.
Lillian was hungrier than that. She drank the bottle and soon demanded more.
Panas said relatives brought the baby back to the casino, located her, but were unable to provide space in the already-crowded car for nursing. Thinking the family truck would be more comfortable; Panas said she realized Turnbull, still inside, had the keys.
So she walked back into the foyer of the casino to find Turnbull, but was stopped by security guards because the baby was not 21, and therefore could not be on the gaming floor. Panas said she returned to the enclosed lobby area with the child without incident, until Lillian reminded her she was still hungry.

There's An Awful Side To The Jobs Report
The economy is sick.
We just got what was ostensibly a great jobs report: The economy added 252,000 jobs, and unemployment fell to 5.6%. We're moving toward normal.
EXCEPT:
Wages are not growing. In fact, average hourly earnings were down 5 cents in December, to $24.57.
Economic theory would have it that as the economy grows and the labor market gets tighter, increasing competition among employers would require them to raise the pay of their employees to recruit new ones and keep the old ones.
That's just not happening.
Wages fell by 0.2% in December. It's hard to ascribe too much importance to one month's data point, but the fact is that wages have been more or less flat since they stopped falling after the recession. Let's look at that chart from Nick Bunker again:

WUA - BATTLESHIP
During the 3-1/2 years of World War 2 that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, "We the People of the U.S.A." produced the following:
22 aircraft carriers,
8 battleships,
48 cruisers,
349 destroyers,
420 destroyer escorts,
203 submarines,
34 million tons of merchant ships,
100,000 fighter aircraft,
98,000 bombers,
24,000 transport aircraft,
58,000 training aircraft,
93,000 tanks,
257,000 artillery pieces,
105,000 mortars,
3,000,000 machine guns, and
2,500,000 military trucks.
We put 16.1 million men in uniform in the various armed services, invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic, planned and executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and Europe, developed the atomic bomb, and ultimately conquered Japan and Germany.
It's worth noting, that during the almost exact amount of time, the Obama Administration couldn't even build a web site that worked.

When I had heard that the City wanted an additional $5,000.00 this semester to "market and advertise" the Downtown Trolley, I knew these Idiots would do something stupid with the money.
Creating DRINK COASTERS for the local bars is once again showing favoritism towards all of Jimmy's buddies who own Bars Downtown. Not only do people almost immediately forget what's printed on a coaster, they're providing a limo service that never gets used.
Jimmy, let me give you a little help in this department. Go to Salisbury University and buy an ad in their paper. After all, SU, (should this trolley ever become successful) Students will be your largest volume of customers. You may want to see if you can get on their news program as well and market it to the Students.
If you continue to show favoritism towards your drinking buddies, (like this stupid coaster idea) we're going to call you out. I also don't know who you used as a printer but they did a very crappy job with very cheap ink. Isn't that SU colors? I know for a fact that it's REDSKINS colors. Well, at least it's not all the colors of a rainbow anyway.

Eric's Downtown Barber Shop Now Has 3 Barbers
It is so awesome to watch a small business grow. Of course good advertising doesn't hurt but let me assure you, this guy Eric has earned his success. Keep up the good work Eric.
Pines Plaza threatened with lien
The sale of the Pines Plaza Commercial Center on Cathell Road early last year was contingent on lowering the number of allocated Equivalent Dwelling Units, which are used to gauge sewer capacity.
The original allocation for the Pines Plaza and neighboring commercial properties was 110 but increased to 125 with the assimilation of the final properties in the area connected to the system.
To sell the property, the number of allocated EDUs was reduced to 64, reflecting the maximum allocation for the property at full capacity. In a letter dated 12/1/2014 and signed by Bob Waugh, vice president and chief operating officer of Pines Plaza Associates LLC, Waugh requests the number of EDUs be reduced to reflect actual usage — 24, plus an additional unit to cover possible expansion at the Dollar General Store.

Barbara Boxer shocks DC: She won't run for re-election in 2016
California Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer of California said Thursday in a YouTube video that she won't run for re-election in 2016, sparking immediate discussions about an arms race among Golden State liberals to succeed her.
A fearless backer of abortion rights, gun control and environmental regulation, Boxer boasted that 'I have about a thousand accomplishments'
First elected to Congress in 1983 and sent to the Senate ten years later, the 74-year-old Boxer told supporters in the brief video that she doesn't feel old.
'I feel as young as I did when I got elected,' Boxer claimed.
But she would have been 82 if she had won and completed a fifth consecutive Senate term.

MULTIPLE FATALITIES IN QUEEN ANNE'S CO. CRASH
(WYE MILLS, MD) – Three adults, two children, and an unborn child, all members of a Virginia family, were killed early this morning when their car and a tractor trailer collided on Rt. 50 in Queen Anne’s County.
The deceased are identified as:
Regina M. Ayres, 24, of Greenbush, Va;
Zerissa Ayres, 30, and her unborn child, of Greenbush, Va., (Regina’s sister)
Jordan Ayres, 7, of Greenbush, Va., (Regina’s daughter)
Travis M. Straton, 25, of Onancock, Va., (Regina’s boyfriend)
Jonathan Ayres, two months, of Greenbush, Va. (son of Regina and Travis Stratton)
The family was traveling in a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. Four of the five were pronounced dead at the scene. Zerissa Ayres, who was pregnant, was transported by ambulance to Easton Memorial Hospital, where both she and her unborn child were pronounced dead. Investigators have been unable to determine who was driving the car the family was traveling in.
The tractor trailer driver is identified as Yvenet Mayette, 28, of Wilmington, Delaware. He was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he is being treated for injuries.
At about 1:15 a.m. today, Maryland State Police at the Centreville Barrack received calls from motorists reporting a crash at the intersection of Rt. 50 and Rt. 213 in Wye Mills. Responding troopers found the car and the overturned tractor trailer on the south side of eastbound Rt. 50, on both the roadway and the property of a community college.
Fire and EMS personnel from Queen Anne’s County, Centreville, Queenstown, Grasonville, Hillsboro, and Talbot County responded to assist. State Highway Administration members responded and set up detours around the scene. Deputies from the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded to conduct the investigation. The preliminary investigation indicates the car carrying the Ayres family was westbound on Rt. 50 approaching the intersection with Rt. 213. The tractor trailer was southbound on Rt. 213 at Rt. 50.
The crash occurred in the intersection as the truck impacted the car on the passenger side. Both vehicles traveled across the intersection. The tractor trailer apparently rolled over the car before coming to rest.
Troopers have determined the Ayres family left Greenbush, Va, last night on a trip to Baltimore to visit family. The tractor trailer driver is said to have been headed to his residence in Delaware. The trailer was reportedly loaded with 44,000 pounds of polyfiber the driver had picked up yesterday afternoon in Charlotte, NC. The tractor trailer is owned by Nationwide Solutions, LLC, of St. John, Indiana.
Due to a tractor trailer being involved in the crash, Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division troopers responded to the scene. They will conduct a detailed inspection of the tractor trailer as part of the investigation.
A cause of the crash remains under investigation. There is no indication at this time that alcohol was a factor. The intersection where the crash occurred is controlled by a traffic signal. It is unknown at this time which intersecting road had the red light. The extensive crash scene required investigators to close both east and westbound Rt. 50 to collect evidence and conduct the investigation. Rt. 50 was reopened in both directions at 9:30 a.m.
No charges have been filed. The Queen Anne’s County State’s Attorney’s Office has been notified of the crash and briefed on the ongoing investigation. Officials in that office will be provided the investigation upon its completion for review regarding potential charges.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact Maryland State Police at the Centreville Barrack, at 410-758-1101, ext. 7. The investigation is continuing.

He Rips Up A Musty Old Carpet In His Late Grandparents’ House And Finds This!!! OMG…
Grandparents are the absolute best. They read us stories, spoil us rotten, act kooky, and occasionally wear hilariously inappropriate T-shirts that endear them to us even more.
Reddit user, EvilEnglish, hit the grandparent jackpot with his PopPop and Nana. Not only did his grandmother read himTreasure Island as a kid, sparking a lifelong desire to find a secret fortune of his own someday, she also inadvertently made his wish come true. His grandparents left him their farmhouse in Tennessee, and when he went to the house to clean it up, he noticed a very dirty carpet. He decided to get rid of it, and when he lifted the filthy adornment to throw it away, he made a once-in-a-lifetime discovery—a hidden safe!
He tried for days to crack the lock on the concrete safe himself with no avail. Finally, he called a locksmith, who broke it open. EvilEnglish said that his grandparents were avid collectors, so he knew the safe would be filled with interesting stuff, but he never imagined this!

6 Times The Obama Administration Said Its Job Was to Promote Islam
On Thursday, White House press secretary Josh Earnest announced that the Obama administration would prioritize fighting Islamophobia in the aftermath of the terrorist attack onCharlie Hebdo in France. Never mind that most Westerners aren’t Islamophobic, but rather GettingShotInTheFaceForExpressingMyOpinion-Phobic.
The real problem, according to the Obama administration, is lack of leadership in defending Islam:
There are some individuals that are using a peaceful religion and grossly distorting it, and trying to use its tenets to inspire people around the globe to carry out acts of violence. And we have enjoyed significant success in enlisting leaders in the Muslim community, like I said, both in the United States and around the world to condemn that kind of messaging, to condemn those efforts to radicalize individuals, and to be clear about what the tenets of Islam actually are. And we’re going to redouble those efforts in the days and weeks ahead.

Governor O’Malley Releases Genuine Progress Indicator Results
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley today released the latest results of Maryland’s Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), which shows that the overall quality of life for Marylanders increased in 2013, despite a relatively flat economy.
“After incorporating 2013 data on health, safety, education and our environment, we found that wellbeing had significantly increased over the past year even though economic activity remained nearly the same,” said Governor O’Malley. “These results are further evidence that many factors other than money contribute to our quality of life.”
Maryland first calculated its Genuine Progress in 2009, making it the first state government-sanctioned tool of its kind. Since then, the GPI has continued to gain acceptance across the nation as a sound way to measure the true prosperity of our society. Maryland was further identified as a national leader for Genuine Progress in a PBS NewsHour piece on alternative measures, which aired nationally last year.

Detours in place during Nelson Road Bridge replacement
The Worcester County Department of Public Works implemented plans to replace the Nelson Road Bridge, a three-span, timber-beam bridge located approximately 0.15 mile south of Swamp Road and crosses Careytown Branch. The replacement project began January 7, 2015 and will take approximately 120 days to complete.
There will be no access to this closed bridge until the project is complete. Detours will be in place throughout the entire course of the project. Detours are as follows: 1.5 miles from the intersection of Shavox Church Road to Sheppard’s Crossing Road; 1.5 miles from the intersection of Sheppard’s Crossing Road to Nelson Road; and from the intersection of Sheppard’s Crossing Road to Nelson Road, approximately 1.73 miles.
The Nelson Road Bridge is a county bridge. It was scheduled to be replaced after earning unsatisfactory bridge sufficiency ratings during the county’s annual bridge inspection program. The bridge replacement project is eligible for funding under the Highway Bridge Program.
For more information about the bridge replacement project or to learn more about the maintenance of county roads and bridges, please contact Roads Superintendent Frank J. Adkins at (410) 632-2244 or email fadkins@co.worcester.md.us.

Flu Season Visitation Changes Take Effect at Peninsula Regional
This flu season is shaping up to be one of the worst on record.
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene now classifies the flu as widespread and at a high intensity level. In Delaware, the flu rate is running almost 10 times higher than a year ago.
At Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC), there have been 121 positive flu tests this year alone compared to just 80 in all of 2013-2014’s flu season. The 26 confirmed inpatient flu cases are, at this point, already double what they were for all of last year’s flu season. Confirmed flu cases in the Emergency Department are also nearly double what they were last year with at least two months remaining in the traditional flu season here on the Delmarva Peninsula. (And if you haven’t had your flu shot, it’s not too late – click here to find out about our Jan. 14 flu clinic.)
PRMC’s number one priority is keeping everyone healthy. Joining many other hospitals in Maryland and across the Delmarva Peninsula, the Medical Center has instituted a modified visitor policy to help prevent exposure this flu season.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 1-10-15
THE CHILDREN’S HOME
The origin of the structure itself is that it was built between 1857 and 1860 by General Humphrey Humphreys as his summer home. His primary residence was on Broad Street in Salisbury between the Jackson Memorial Building and the Presbyterian Church. The Humphreys’ family cemetery is still located behind the house between the east and west lanes of Fairfield Drive about 250 yards south of the Salisbury-Parsonsburg Road or Old Ocean City Road as it is now called. Interred in the plot are Gen. Humphreys (7/23/1799 – 3/7/1882)), his wife, Elizabeth (2/20/1816 – 9/10/1878), the infant daughter of Gen. and Elizabeth Humphreys (d. 7/28/1834 aged 8 days), Thomas Parsons Humphreys, son of Gen. and Elizabeth Humphreys (d. 9/25/1838 aged 4 mos. 4 days), Eugene Randolph Humphreys, son of Gen. and Elizabeth Humphreys (d. 10/13/1847 aged 4 yrs. 7 mos. 6 days) and Elizabeth Humphreys’ father, Elijah Parsons (7/20/1778 – 1/7/1854).By 1907, the house and adjacent property was known as Fairfield Farms and was owned by Grant Sexton. It was the largest dairy farm serving Salisbury.
After its service as a dairy farm, the house was secured by Wicomico County in 1930 and used as a home for homeless boys and girls aged four to fifteen. The original Matron in charge was Mrs. Rhetta Duffy. The Children’s Home was subsequently under the supervision of Mrs. Beulah White Hare. While a campaign was conducted each year for contributions for its support, William H. Morton was the chief benefactor.
The Children’s Home was discontinued in 1954 after federal and state programs were instituted. For the next two years, it was an institution for boys with mental and emotional problems.
The property was then sold to the Lutheran Church which used it as a church until their new church was built in front of it (new church is visible from Old Ocean City Road). When their new church was ready they sold the old Children’s Home and it has been in the possession of private families since then. The present owners are restoring it at their own expense.
Ochse, Kendall plead to affray in fatal beating
There doesn’t seem to be any confusion about the fact there was a fight, but after that the consensus falls apart on what exactly happened in the early hours of Aug. 24, 2014, which happened to be the last day of Justin Cancelliere’s life.
The unconscious Pennsylvania man was pronounced dead at Atlantic General Hospital early that morning.
As part of the plea agreement between Christopher Kendall, Caleb Ochse and the State of Maryland, the pair conceded a number of points. The two were only charged with “affray,” or public fighting, and all other charges were either dismissed or nolle prosequi, where the prosecutor voluntarily agrees to not pursue a particular charge or charges.
State’s Attorney Beau Oglesby described, perhaps for the first time in public, the results of the investigation into the case.

STATE OF MARYLAND PROVIDES GRANT FUNDING TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES AT RISK FOR NATURAL HAZARDS
OVER $5 MILLION IN MITIGATION FUNDS RECENTLY AWARDED TO REDUCE IMPACT OF FUTURE DISASTERS
REISTERSTOWN, MD. — The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has recently provided over $5 million in federal grants to local jurisdictions and qualified organizations throughout Maryland that are at risk for impacts of or have been adversely affected by natural disasters. These grants, which originate from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), fund specific projects that have been identified by communities as important to saving lives and protecting property.
Through this mitigation grant program, MEMA is working with local jurisdictions to acquire and demolish structures that are not safe from natural hazards, turning the land into protected open space. Maryland and Prince George’s County will be acquiring and demolishing seven properties in Fort Washington that experienced slope failure in March 2014. MEMA will also be working with Allegany County to acquire a six-property mobile home camp in Frostburg and with Calvert County on a single structure in Broomes Island. Property owners who experienced a loss will be reimbursed using these funds.
MEMA actively conducts risk reduction planning and participates in FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs, which are designed to provide funding and other resources to protect life and property from natural disasters and promote community recovery following incidents. Residents can find additional information on MEMA’s mitigation grant and preparedness programs at http://mema.maryland.gov.

Some natural disasters, such as Hurricane Sandy in 2012, have had both widespread impacts throughout the State of Maryland and localized, direct effects on many communities. “Government agencies and voluntary organizations are proficient at disaster response and recovery,” said MEMA Executive Director Ken Mallette, “but another piece of our responsibility to the residents of Maryland is to consistently prepare for and mitigate against future emergencies. These projects will help accomplish that.”
In addition, these mitigation grants will fund emergency alert and warning projects, such as an update to the existing flood warning system in Howard County, the purchase and installation of a two-way emergency alert system for Frederick County facilities, and a variable message sign for Garrett County. Other projects include purchasing and installing emergency power generators for critical facilities, such as the University of Maryland’s Charles County Medical Center, which will be installing three emergency generators to ensure that electricity is available to the hospital if commercial power fails.

Perdue hexes Pa. By Ray Wallace
Chicken-seller Perdue wants state permission for an industrial soybean-processing factory that would save money by dumping more than 200 tons a year of toxic waste hexane gas into already polluted Susquehanna Valley air.
Ronald Reagan's Opinion
"The same government that requires a taxpaying citizen to document every statement on his tax return decrees that questioning a welfare applicant demeans and humiliates him."
