City's Top Cop Demands Changes In Maryland Gun Laws

Baltimore's top cop is fuming about some of the state's gun laws.

Commissioner Kevin Davis is asking "when is Maryland going to wake up?"

He spoke out Thursday on Maryland's News Now on WBAL Newsradio 1090.

Davis says he considers some of the state's gun laws too lax, far less stringent than federal statutes.

"The carrying, transportation or wearing of an illegal firearm in our state is still a misdemeanor," he said.

  1. They're making it so they can just declare the weapon illegal and throw your butt in jail for a long time.

Idiots like this one and the bim he works for need to go.

Thank heavens for Mike Lewis - here in the outhouse!

  2. Still blaming the problem on the gun.do you actually think a criminal is not going to have a gun if it's illegal?

  3. Suck it Mr. "top cop" it's called the second amendment.

  4. He needs to be solving crimes to think he is being paid 200k a year for talk show appearances makes me sick!!!

  5. That's why he got the job. He's a suckup liberal Democrat. Allowed to carry laws would put a lot of stop to this crap.

  6. Unless I read something different than others, it seems that some people are confusing an illegal firearm with those that have permits. If all guns were illegal, only crooks would have guns. In this case, it seems that our politicians are trying to say that the crooks are carrying undocumented legal guns and honest citizens are carrying documented illegal guns. Makes perfect sense to me.

  7. Funny he carrys a gun ?

  8. So, I have a registered handgun. Since I don't have a concealed carry permit, it becomes a FELONY if I carry it concealed.

Yet, if it were a stolen, unregistered handgun, it would only be a misdemeanor?

    Makes sense to me!

See how stupid any laws against the 2nd Amendment can get????

  9. if they make if a felony, and I get caught, that just means no JURY DUTY FOR ME!!!

  10. Don't think you need HIS permission to carry a weapon.

It's called jury nullification. Read about it, know about I,t and USE it.
No cop ---NO cop --- or politician gets to tell me I can't carry a weapon.
Its loaded, too, so step lightly.
Me thinks these wanna-be Nazi's have forgotten their place.
    Keep cheering.

  11. This clown is the state's top cop? No wonder the police have an image problem. The ratio of goons to decent folks wearing a badge is skewed. Maryland is one of the most unfriendly gun owning states in the country, and this idiot thinks the gun laws are too lax? Well, I think the standards for how we pick cops in Maryland is also too easy. I think they need to start checking the IQ of our so called "public servants" much closer because clearly they have problems handling their authority.

  12. Don't worry Kevin Davis, after the Baltimore election the new Mare will kick you to the curb and appoint a black chief.

What part of that comment don't you understand? Did he say anything about legal guns??

  14. And I forgot the criminals will stop being criminals because the law changed--no wonder Baltimore is a hole in the wall--won't go there ---many people have stopped frequenting Baltimore for good reason--let them rot

  15. We should succeed from the Western Shore and form another state....

We give them millions of dollars so they can give it to section 8...

  16. An illegal gun is obtained without the permit process and legal gun is with but both are illegal if concealed without a carry permit.so if I drive around with it on my dash or have a belt holster I can carry a legal gun legally.

  17. WOW you can't fix stupid. I guess the Chief thinks the guy who shot his officer would not have been carrying a gun if carrying the gun was a felony Vs a misdemeanor. You can't make this stuff up.

  19. 322 & 414,

The only time I can carry or transport my legal firearm is when traveling to or from a shooting range, with the gun and ammunition separately stored.

414, maybe in Delaware, but not in MD.

Carrying a LEGAL gun concealed w/o a permit in MD is a felony. Illegal guns are only a misdemeanor.

No, he did not say this, but my concealed carry instructor did.

  20. u cannot carry o your person in your car (or on dash / seat) in MD unless you are going to and from shooting.

Hey MORON!! At what point did you see anything that said "states top cop." Joe clearly had City and Baltimore's top cop. It's obvious that you can't read and you are part of the problem.

  22. Easy solution. 870 Remington with slug barrel. Can leave it on the front seat. No need for a permit.

  26. 11:43 must be another one of those people that can only parrot what they have heard or read. Remington 870 with slug barrel and pistol grip is under 28". Shorter than a baseball bat. While this might be to much gun for a girly man to handle, the rest of us can easily pick it up from the passenger seat/floor board area with one hand and eliminate the threat. 00 buckshot is highly effective 0 to 45 feet. No carry permit needed.
