Obama's Furlough Exception For Union Workers Draws Scrutiny
Taxpayer-funded union activity is drawing new scrutiny after the Obama administration carved out a furlough exemption for government workers who serve as labor representatives.
The Office of Personnel Management, the agency managing federal employee issues, last Friday opened the door for some workers who serve as union representatives across the federal government to return to work and receive regular paychecks while most of their colleagues remain furloughed.
After complaints from government workers that they lacked union representation during the shutdown, OPM last Friday rewrote its previous guidance to allow those employees who are involved in representing co-workers on union-related matters to return to work with a regular paycheck.

Police In Florida Suburb Make Millions Selling Drugs, Report Finds
Police in Florida have been luring big-money drug buyers to a small suburban town from across the United States and as far north as Canada, negotiating sales of cocaine in popular restaurants and then arresting the buyers and confiscating their cash and cars.
According to a six-month investigation by the Sun Sentinel, undercover detectives in Sunrise, Fla., seize millions of dollars from the drug stings, offering cash rewards for the confidential informants who help police attract faraway buyers, including paying one informant more than $800,000 over the past five years.
The paper’s investigation has led the police department to stop the cocaine stings, with Mayor Michael Ryan, who supports the police work, blaming the Sun Sentinel for exposing the department’s strategies and compromising the undercover work.

It’s Gotta Hurt
As the federal shutdown grinds on, Team Obama’s message to the American people is sadly consistent: Shove it — as painfully as possible.
Obama’s strategic sadism disregards regular Americans’ basic needs and tortures those who resist. And if this damages people, so what? “We are winning,” a senior administration official told the Wall Street Journal. “It doesn’t really matter to us” how long the shutdown endures, “because what matters is the end result.”
The administration is scrambling over benefits that were denied to the bereaved families of at least 26 military servicemembers who died on duty since the October 1 shutdown. Despite Congress’s enacting and Obama’s signing pre-shutdown funding for military pay and family assistance, officials initially refused these grieving loved ones the travel and burial aid that Washington traditionally offers under such brutal circumstances. The GOP House voted unanimously Wednesday to restore this relief. Senate majority leader Harry Reid of Nevada trivialized this House bill as being “for show,” and White House press secretary Jay Carney called it “a gimmick.” However, amid growing public outcry, Reid pushed the measure through the Senate Thursday. Until federal money actually arrives, the private Fisher House deserves national applause for underwriting this support for the loved ones of these fallen heroes.

Utah's welfare drug testing saved more than $350,000 in first year, officials say
SALT LAKE CITY — A new state program requiring drug screening for welfare applicants has saved more than $350,000 in its first year, officials said.
Preliminary data show Utah spent more than $30,000 from August 2012 to July 2013 to screen welfare applicants for drug use, but only found 12 people who tested positive.

Utah Spent More Than $30,000 To Catch 12 Drug Users On Welfare
Utah has spent more than $30,000 to drug test welfare applicants after it passed a new law last year. But in that time, just 12 people have tested positivefor drug use, according to state figures.
Utah doesn’t randomly test applicants or require them to all undergo a drug test, but instead requires them to complete a written questionnaire that is meant to screen for drug abuse. Those who have a high probability are then given drug tests. The state spent nearly $6,000 on written tests for 4,730 applicants, 466 of which had to take a drug test, which cost more than $25,000. The law doesn’t disqualify those who test positive but instead requires them to go into a substance abuse treatment program.
Ben Carson Compares Obamacare To Slavery
Dr. Ben Carson, a conservative commentator and neurosurgeon, on Friday likened the health care law to slavery.
“Obamacare is really, I think, the worst thing to happen to the nation since slavery,” Carson said, speaking at the Values Voter Summit. “And it is slavery, in a way.”
Carson, who is African American, added to applause, “It was never about health care. It was about control.”
During an address punctuated with cheers, Carson also said that there’s no such thing as a “war on women.” Smiling, he noted that pregnant women are typically treated politely, and said that the real war is on unborn children.

Mike Levin Warns Obama
Mark Levin warned everyone on Capitol Hill that if they lay a hand on the WWII vets at the memorial to arrest them for visiting their own memorial, he’ll bring a half a million people to march on Washington. He says it will ignite a movement like they’ve never seen before.
"I want to say this loud and clear to the people on Capitol Hill who are listening, to this administration. You lay one damn hand on one of those World War II vets at that memorial and I’ll bring half a million people to that damn memorial! You got that?!
"I’m sitting here stewing thinking about this – playing these damn games? You’ll ignite a movement in this country like you’ve never seen before! The biker patriot army – veterans from all over the country, every single war and battle in this country, Republican, Democrat, Independent, whatever!
"I’ll be damned if one president, with his feet up on the desk in the oval office, with a smirk on his face, looking at his golf card…I’ll be damned if this president or anybody else is going to shut down that WWII memorial. Period! These men are in their 80s and 90s.
"So let me repeat! You lay one hand on one of those men and arrest them for going to their memorial, which they fought for, which was not paid by you dammit, it was paid by the American people – we will come out of every town and city in this nation! We will come out of every county. And both coasts! Both borders! And we will march on Washington against your tyranny!
You’ve been warned!"

Dems Now Demanding Spending Hikes From Divided GOP
“Republicans” clearly didn’t learn anything from Jesus Christ … or their standard bearer, Abraham Lincoln. And American taxpayers are about to pay the price for that ignorance.
“Every city or house divided against itself will not stand,” Christ told the Pharisees, according to the Gospel of Matthew. That statement was famously paraphrased centuries later by the future American President – the first to be elected as a “Republican.”

Sen. Tim Scott: Common Core Is A Threat To Education
Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) says Common Core is a threat to American education.
“I think anytime that we centralize control of education, create carrots and sticks for more resources, to make sure states do what we want them to do, I think it’s a threat at the end of the day,” Scott told TheBlaze Friday. “It started out as a state-by-state down-level opportunity which was great. Then the federal government began trying to create carrot and sticks again. This is just going to hurt education more than help.”

Bungling Bureaucrats Dole Out Billions In Tax Credits To Illegal Immigrants
The federal government’s decision to pay out billions of dollars in tax credits to illegal immigrants likely was made by midlevel bureaucrats and has never received full congressional scrutiny, according to a study that the Center for Immigration Studies is releasing Monday.
The report, written by CIS fellow David North, says the Internal Revenue Service doled out $4.2 billion in what is known as the “additional child tax credit” in 2010 to those using an individual taxpayer identification number, or ITIN, which is usually a signal of an illegal immigrant.
The issue has been known for some time. But Mr. North went deep into the data to try to look at why it’s happening, and said it’s a story of a tax credit expanding beyond its initial scope, and midlevel IRS managers twisting the law, leaving billions of dollars going to illegal immigrants.

Obama's Evasive Letter To Benghazi Victim's Father
On September 11, 2013, Charles Woods appeared on Fox News's Hannity and read aloud four questions about Benghazi from a letter he’d sent to President Obama.
Woods, whose son, ex-SEAL Tyrone Woods, was one of four Americans killed in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, added: “What we want are not just answers. We also want the truth.”
President Obama has now written in reply to Woods’ letter. This marks the president’s first response to direct questions about Benghazi since May of this year when he answered one question at a press conference. That particular question concerned aftermath “talking points,” not the attack itself.
Charles Woods’ questions for the president are very different. Rather than address post-attack spin control or even pre-attack security – as most press and politicians are wont to do – Woods’ questions for the president concern the attack itself.
These questions, which Woods would discuss later in September before the House Oversight Committee, are:
Why did the president not give “cross-border authority” to rescue the 30 Americans that needed to be rescued?

Wall St. Elites Reason It's Time For A 'De-Americanized World,' China's News Agency Says
China’s official news agency is calling for a “de-Americanized world,” in a blistering editorial characterizing the United States as a “meddling” and “hypocritical” nation that introduces chaos into the world for its own ends.
“As U.S. politicians of both political parties are still shuffling back and forth between the White House and the Capitol Hill without striking a viable deal to bring normality to the body politic they brag about, it is perhaps a good time for the befuddled world to start considering building a de-Americanized world,” writes the Xinhua News Agency.

PENTAGON’S STUNNING ADMISSION: GOV’T HAS HELD ‘PHONY’ CEREMONIES TO HONOR FALLEN U.S. SOLDIERS FOR YEARS
The Pentagon has admitted that dramatic repatriation ceremonies held at a Hawaii base have been fabricated to make it appear as though flag-draped coffins holding the remains of fallen U.S. soldiers were arriving that very day from old battlefields, NBC News reported.
In reality, the remains had already been sitting in American labs for months. The planes were also defunct and non-operational, so the notion that they carried the bodies back to the U.S. is an impossibility.
These controversial staged events have been carried out for the past seven years by the government’s Joint Prisoner of War Accounting Command, known as JPAC, with the stated purpose of honoring the fallen.
After months of questions, the stunning admission was made in a statement from the Department of Defense to NBC News.
Officials said that these so-called “arrival” ceremonies began in September 2006. Rather than literal in nature, the events have been intentionally pre-planned to be ceremonial — but this hasn’t been adequately conveyed to the public.

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves.

Lindsey Graham to GOP: Don't Screw Up Obamacare Message
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., warned fellow Republicans Sunday that they need to strike a fiscal deal soon so the public's focus can shift to the glitch-filled roll out of Obamacare rather than a Congress consumed by the government shutdown and looming debt ceiling deadline.
Republicans can still avoid political disaster in next year's mid-term elections, he said, if Congress can end the government shutdown and raise the nation's debt ceiling by Thursday's deadline. After that, Republicans can turn to their top priority, defeating Obamacare, whose implementation is off to a rocky start.

It appears the message that it's not cool to smoke cigarettes is making inroads with America's teenagers. The same folks also apparently agree that it's totally cool to smoke pot.

Wicomico County Tiering Meeting
I just got wind of a meeting of which every property owner (or anyone who intends to someday be a property owner) in Wicomico County should be aware and plan to attend. What is most disappointing to me is that the format is reportedly structured to exclude active participation on the part of interested and concerned citizens. The recommendations that emanate from these meetings will be used to guide decisions made at the council and executive levels which will have long-lasting and potentially drastic effects on property rights, and the consequent ability to enjoy the use of, and derive future value from, everyone’s real property within the county. The meeting is to take place over two days and is scheduled for this Tuesday and Wednesday (October 15 and 16) at the Civic Center in the Midway Room. County Executive, Rick Pollitt, has authorized a hand-selected committee to meet to discuss the land use tiering of Wicomico county from 5PM to 9 PM both days. The tiering is a planning tool pushed on us as a part of the controversial “Septic Bill” (SB236). Every citizen who values having some advanced knowledge of and influence on what our planners have in store for us should be at this meeting. Don’t say you weren’t warned. See you at the meeting.

Next Scandal: Platinum EBT Cards
The next welfare scandal is going to be the huge balances on some of these EBT cards.
Wait until the Department of Terrorist Assistance (DTA) finally coughs up how much money is on these cards. And yes, Gov. Deval Patrick, this is another one of those “anecdotes.”
Last January a radio listener from Pittsfield sent me a receipt from a local convenience store. Some loafer had run up a tab of $3.28, so he whipped out an EBT card to pay for it. After paying his three bucks, he had $7,066.58 left on the card.
I kid you not. Over seven grand on an EBT card.
There aren’t too many ways to run up seven grand plus on your EBT card. Of course it’s easy if you never use the card while every month you’re getting a new direct deposit of taxpayer cash.
But the only ways not to spend down the balance are because 1) you don’t need an EBT card at all or 2) you have more than one EBT card.
It’s got to be one or the other, right?

Wait until the Department of Terrorist Assistance (DTA) finally coughs up how much money is on these cards. And yes, Gov. Deval Patrick, this is another one of those “anecdotes.”
Last January a radio listener from Pittsfield sent me a receipt from a local convenience store. Some loafer had run up a tab of $3.28, so he whipped out an EBT card to pay for it. After paying his three bucks, he had $7,066.58 left on the card.

EBT Card Food Stamp Recipients Ransack Wal-Mart Stores
When the federal EBT food stamp system suffered a critical failure on Saturday, local retailers were disconnected from the federal food stamp database that keeps track of how much credit is left on each individual EBT card. Seizing the opportunity provided by the glitch, EBT card holders in Louisiana ransacked their local Wal-Mart stores, stuffing their shopping carts full of groceries and “paying” for them with near-empty EBT cards that essentially had unlimited account balances because all accounting was offline.
When the EBT database came back online and card purchase limits were suddenly restored, EBT card holders abandoned their full carts and just walked away, probably miffed that they missed out on participating in the felony theft of groceries.
This happened at Wal-Mart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA. As local news station KSLA reports:
Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits.
The chaos that followed ultimately required intervention from local police, and left behind numerous carts filled to overflowing, apparently abandoned when the glitch-spurred shopping frenzy ended.
The story goes on to report that one woman who racked up $700 worth of groceries had only 49 cents on her card. That’s $699.51 in theft.

Closing After 83 Years: Santoni’s Market Blames Beverage Tax For Drained Profits
An iconic family-owned grocery store in Higlandtown will close its doors by the end of the month. Santoni’s is pointing the finger at Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake for sales loss.
The grocer cites the mayor’s beverage tax levy on Baltimore City retailers as the sole reason for its business failure.

A Letter To The Editor: Million Vet March
Hey Joe,
I haven't seen anything on your site this morning about the Million Vet March in D.C. There are certainly plenty of them there and I have been watching them from a live stream. They cut down the barriers that were around the monuments and then they carried them to the White House as they said that is where they belonged, the barriers that is. I don't know how many veterans are there but there sure looks like a lot of them.
They have a facebook page called Million Vet March on the Memorials and then on that page they have a live stream called mlr 13 if you are interested.

Why The Federal Government Wants To Redefine The Word 'Cancer'
The federal government wants to reduce the number of Americans diagnosed each year with cancer. But not by better preventive care or healthier living. Instead, the government wants to redefinethe term “cancer” so that fewer conditions qualify as a true cancer. What does this mean for ordinary Americans — and should we be concerned?
On July 29, 2013, a working group for the National Cancer Institute (the main government agency for cancer research)published a paper proposing that the term “cancer” be reserved for lesions with a reasonable likelihood of killing the patient if left untreated. Slower growing tumors would be called a different name such as “indolent lesions of epithelial origin” (IDLE). Their justification was that modern medical technology now allows doctors to detect small, slow-growing tumors that likely wouldn’t be fatal. Yet once patients are told they have a cancer, many become frightened and seek unnecessary further tests, chemotherapy, radiation, and/or surgery. By redefining the term “cancer,” the National Cancer Institute hopes to reduce patient anxiety and reduce the risks and expenses associated with supposedly unnecessary medical procedures. In technical terms, the government hopes to reduce “overdiagnosis” and “overtreatment” of cancer.

Mautz to Run for House of Delegates
Johnny Mautz, a St. Michaels native, has officially announced his intention to run on the republican ticket for the Maryland House of Delegates on 2014. He seeks to represent District 37B, which includes: Talbot, Dorchester, Caroline, and Wicomico counties. The seat is currently held by Jeannie Haddaway who, in July of this year, was tapped to run alongside David Craig in his bid for governor.
“When Jeannie announced she was running for Lieutenant Governor and that her seat would be open in the House of Delegates, my first thought was that it is a really important position,” explains Mautz. “I thought of my family and friends and how they have struggled with the policies coming out of Annapolis.”
Mautz is no stranger to politics. He worked as a Special Assistant to Governor Ehrlich from 2003 to 2006 where he dealt with matters pertaining to the Departments of the Environment, Natural Resources, Planning, Agriculture, Transportation, Business and Economic Development. Mautz utilized his law degree in the late 1990s and early 2000s working as counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary committee. He currently is the Legislative Director for U.S. Representative Howard Coble, working on regulatory reform and intellectual property law as well as maintaining oversight of the Department of Justice and the federal Judiciary.

Thomas Sowell: Who Really Shut Down The Government?
Even when it comes to something as basic, and apparently as simple and straightforward, as the question of who shut down the federal government, there are diametrically opposite answers, depending on whether you talk to Democrats or to Republicans.
There is really nothing complicated about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going — except for Obamacare.
This is not a matter of opinion. You can check the Congressional Record.
As for the House of Representatives’ right to grant or withhold money, that is not a matter of opinion either. You can check the Constitution of the United States. All spending bills must originate in the House of Representatives, which means that congressmen there have a right to decide whether or not they want to spend money on a particular government activity.
Whether Obamacare is good, bad or indifferent is a matter of opinion. But it is a matter of fact that members of the House of Representatives have a right to make spending decisions based on their opinion.
Obamacare is indeed “the law of the land,” as its supporters keep saying, and the Supreme Court has upheld its constitutionality.
But the whole point of having a division of powers within the federal government is that each branch can decide independently what it wants to do or not do, regardless of what the other branches do, when exercising the powers specifically granted to that branch by the Constitution.
The hundreds of thousands of government workers who have been laid off are not idle because the House of Representatives did not vote enough money to pay their salaries or the other expenses of their agencies — unless they are in an agency that would administer Obamacare.
Since we cannot read minds, we cannot say who — if anybody — “wants to shut down the government.” But we do know who had the option to keep the government running and chose not to. The money voted by the House of Representatives covered everything that the government does, except for Obamacare.
The Senate chose not to vote to authorize that money to be spent, because it did not include money for Obamacare. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that he wants a “clean” bill from the House of Representatives, and some in the media keep repeating the word “clean” like a mantra. But what is unclean about not giving Harry Reid everything he wants?
If Sen. Reid and President Obama refuse to accept the money required to run the government, because it leaves out the money they want to run Obamacare, that is their right. But that is also their responsibility.
You cannot blame other people for not giving you everything you want. And it is a fraud to blame them when you refuse to use the money they did vote, even when it is ample to pay for everything else in the government.
When Barack Obama keeps claiming that it is some new outrage for those who control the money to try to change government policy by granting or withholding money, that is simply a bald-faced lie. You can check the history of other examples of “legislation by appropriation” as it used to be called.
Whether legislation by appropriation is a good idea or a bad idea is a matter of opinion. But whether it is both legal and not unprecedented is a matter of fact.
Perhaps the biggest of the big lies is that the government will not be able to pay what it owes on the national debt, creating a danger of default. Tax money keeps coming into the Treasury during the shutdown, and it vastly exceeds the interest that has to be paid on the national debt.
Even if the debt ceiling is not lifted, that only means that government is not allowed to run up new debt. But that does not mean that it is unable to pay the interest on existing debt.
None of this is rocket science. But unless the Republicans get their side of the story out — and articulation has never been their strong suit — the lies will win. More important, the whole country will lose.

Want To Get Into The Fire Boat Business?
Well, for $149,000.00 and a good paint job you to can go into competition with local Fire Departments. Think about it. You only have to go to work, oh, let's say one day every ten or twenty years. Benefits, great salary and a retirement to boot.
Heck, the local government will probably throw in a few SUV Chase Vehicles to run around in as well. You know, for those calls you get so often making sure you can cut through traffic and get to the Marina in no time.
If you'd like to learn more about this Boat, GO HERE.

Congressional Reform Act of 2013
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/31/13. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.
Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time?
