‘DISTURBING VIDEO’ SHOWS COPS FORCIBLY DRAWING BLOOD OF DUI SUSPECTS — AND IT’S LEGAL

In some counties in Georgia, drivers suspected of operating a vehicle while under the influence might be forced into submission for a blood draw as evidence — and it’s completely legal.

Back in April the Supreme Court said if cops wanted to forcibly draw blood from a drunk driving suspect, they needed a warrant. And police in Georgia are getting them to exercise this practice, according to WAGA-TV.

The outlet reported that the blood draws occur with a warrant after suspects refuse taking a breathalyzer test.

Ted Cruz Exposes The Amnesty Bill… $5000 Penalty For Hiring Citizens Over Legalized Aliens… SERIOUSLY!!!

We can’t possibly expect our Senators to read a 1200 page bill before voting on it. Can we? Well Thank God Ted Cruz read it. Not only did Cruz read it but he schooled anyone who would listen from the Senate floor on Tuesday. Cruz found a loophole that actually penalizes an employer $5000 for hiring a citizen over a legalized alien. Seriously. You can’t make this stuff up. Senator Cruz was quoted as saying:
“I filed an amendment that would have corrected one of the most egregious aspects of the gang of eight bill as it intersects with Obamacare legislation, namely a penalty imposed on U.S. employers for hiring U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents. This bill says if an employer hires a citizen or a legal immigrant, the IRS can impose a $5,000 penalty on that employer. But if the employer instead hires someone with RPI status, that penalty will go away. That is utterly and completely indefensible.”

“Nobody in this body wants to see African-American unemployment go up. Nobody wants to see Hispanic unemployment go up, youth unemployment go up, union household unemployment go up, legal immigrant unemployment go up. Yet every one of those will happen if this Gang of Eight bill passes without fixing this problem. If that happens, all 100 members of the U.S. Senate will be accountable to our constituents for explaining why we voted to put a federal penalty on hiring U.S. citizens and hiring legal immigrants. I hope this body will choose to pass my amendment and fix this grave defect in the Gang of Eight legislation.”

Charge Dismissed Against Student Who Refused To Remove NRA Shirt

The West Virginia eighth-grader arrested after refusing a teacher's demand he remove a National Rifle Association T-shirt he wore to school won't face criminal charges after all.

Jared Marcum, 14, was charged with obstruction following the April 18 incident after police who were called to Logan Middle School school said he refused to stop talking. The case generated national headlines, as Marcum's family and attorney, Ben White, claimed the demand that he remove the NRA shirt violated his right to freedom of speech. On Thursday, Logan County Circuit Judge Eric O'Briant signed an order dismissing the charge.

Marcum's mother, Tanya Lardieri, told WOWK that she was overcome with emotion after signing a dismissal order relating to the charge. The boy’s father, Allen Lardieri, said the couple is just glad Eric’s legal troubles are behind him.

Genie

A Husband takes his wife
to play her first game of golf. Of course, the wife promptly
hacked her first shot right through the window of the biggest
house adjacent to the course.

The husband cringed,
'I warned you to be careful! Now we'll have to go up there,
find the owner, apologize and see how much your lousy drive is
going to cost us.'

So the couple walked up
to the house and knocked on the door. A warm voice said, 'Come
on in.'

When they opened the
door they saw the damage that was done: glass was all over the
place, and a broken antique bottle was lying on its side near
the pieces of window glass.

A man reclining on the
couch asked, 'Are you the people that broke my
window?

'Uh...yeah!, sir. We're
sure sorry about that,' the husband replied.

'Oh, no apology is
necessary. Actually I want to thank you.. You see, I'm a
genie, and I've been trapped in that bottle for a thousand
years.

Now that you've released
me, I'm allowed to grant three wishes. I'll give you each one
wish, but if you don't mind, I'll keep the last one for my
self.'

Wow, that's great!'
the husband said. He pondered a moment and blurted out, 'I'd
like a million dollars a year for the rest of my
life.'

'No problem,' said the
genie 'You've got it, it's the least I can do. And I'll
guarantee you a long, healthy life!'

'And now you, young
lady, what do you want?' the genie asked.

'I'd like to own a
gorgeous home in every country in the world complete with
servants,' she said.

'Consider it done,' the
genie said. 'And your homes will always be safe from fire,
burglary and natural disasters!'

'And now,' the couple
asked in unison, 'what's your wish, genie?'

'Well, since I've been
trapped in that bottle, and haven't been with a woman in more
than a thousand years, my wish is to have sex with your
wife.'

The husband looked at
his wife and said, 'Gee, honey, you know we both now have a
fortune, and all those houses. What do you
think?'

She mulled it over for a
few moments and said, 'You know, you're right. Considering our
good fortune, I guess I wouldn't mind, but what about you,
honey?'

You know I love you
sweetheart,' said the husband.I'd do the same for
you!'

So the genie and the
woman went upstairs where they spent the rest of the afternoon
enjoying each other.

The genie was
insatiable.

After about three hours
of non-stop sex, the genie rolled over and looked directly
into her eyes and asked, How old are you and your
husband?'

'Why, we're both 35,'
she responded breathlessly.

'No Kidding,' he
said.

'Thirty-five years old
and you both still believe in
genies?'

New Rules Rid Schools Of Junk Foods

Kids, your days of blowing off those healthier school lunches and filling up on cookies from the vending machine are numbered. The government is onto you.

For the first time, the Agriculture Department is telling schools what sorts of snacks they can sell. The new restrictions announced Thursday fill a gap in nutrition rules that allowed many students to load up on fat, sugar and salt despite the existing guidelines for healthy meals.

"Parents will no longer have to worry that their kids are using their lunch money to buy junk food and junk drinks at school," said Margo Wootan, a nutrition lobbyist for the Center for Science in the Public Interest who pushed for the new rules.

That doesn't mean schools will be limited to doling out broccoli and brussels sprouts.

Carnival Pulling Ship From Baltimore

The Port of Baltimore is losing some of its cruise business.

Carnival Cruise Lines announced today that the Carnival Pride will begin sailing from Tampa, Florida starting in December, 2014.

In an email to WBAL News, company spokesman Vince Gulliksen said that the cruise line, "routinely evaluates our itineraries and make adjustments as needed based on guest preference and overall financial performance of different itineraries. As a result, Carnival has decided not to deploy the Carnival Pride from Baltimore for the period November 2014 through April 2015. We have a great partnership with the Port of Baltimore and know many of our guests enjoy cruising from there. We will evaluate all viable options to return to Baltimore in the future."

The announcement leaves the Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas as the only cruise sip to sail out of Baltimore after November, 2014.

Md. Employers Getting Good Deal On Hospital Payments For Injured Workers Compared to Va., Pa.

Maryland employers who pay workers compensation benefits for employees are getting a good deal on their hospital coverage compared to their counterparts in Virginia and Pennsylvania, a new report shows. They are paying about the same amount as group health insurers for common workplace surgeries.

The workers compensation payment scale in Maryland greatly outperformed Virginia and Pennsylvania, where private group insurers paid significantly less for shoulder surgeries and surgery-related costs such as operating rooms and medications than their employer counterparts.

The Massachusetts-based Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI) just published a study that showed that Maryland workers’ compensation payments –the amount administered by the state government and paid for by employers–were only 3% above what private health insurers paid for common shoulder surgeries and 5% above for knee surgeries. (The study itself is proprietary, and can be purchased from the institute.)

Court Rules Hobby Lobby Can Challenge Health Law, Won't Have To Pay Fines

In a health care decision giving hope to opponents of the federal birth-control coverage mandate, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday that Hobby Lobby stores won't have to start paying millions of dollars in fines next week for not complying with the requirement.

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver decided the Oklahoma City-based arts and crafts chain can proceed with its case and won't be subject to fines in the meantime.

The reprieve gives Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. more time to argue in a lower court that for-profit businesses -- not just currently exempted religious groups -- should be allowed to seek an exception if the law violates their religious beliefs. The company had sued to overturn the mandate on grounds that it violates the faith of founder and CEO David Green and his family.

One Month Later, Authorities Still Searching For Woman

BERLIN -- Nearly one month to the day since she was first reported missing, the search continues this week for an elderly Berlin woman with dementia and short-term memory loss last seen at her residence near South Point on Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a fading memory and the Fourth of July is just around the corner as the summer races along and the search continues for Helen Stephanie David, 77, of South Point, who was reportedly last seen at her residence on Carefree Drive around 3 p.m. on May 27.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, May 28, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office received a missing persons report on David from her son, Ryan Putney, who told police he had last seen his mother at her South Point home around 3 p.m. the day before.

The Future Of Religious Liberty

This week should bring two significant Supreme Court decisions on the matter of same sex marriage, in the cases of Hollingsworth v. Perry (the California Proposition 8 case) and theUnited States v. Windsor (the DOMA issue). It would be a shame for the Court to hand down any sweeping ruling on the issues involved. Just like it did in Roe and Doe, the Court could stop the conversation, halting the ability of voices to be heard and for this to play out in a representative political sphere.
Representative politics ought to represent, and the people and their representatives should decide what marriage is, and whether they wish to change their minds on it, not the Court.

Art Exhibit In Berlin To Benefit Wounded Warriors

BERLIN -- A month-long art feature by local artist Bill Thomas begins this Friday at The Globe in Berlin, and the 10-year Army veteran has pledged to donate all of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The idea for the showing came through coincidence. Thomas’ day job often takes him to The Globe for deliveries. That meant that he went through the restaurant’s upstairs art gallery on a regular basis.

“He would come through all of the time and would have to come upstairs to drop off my invoices,” said The Globe owner Jennifer Dawicki.

One day Thomas approached Dawicki with the idea of doing a show where all of the proceeds would go to Wounded Warriors and the collaboration took off from there.

Student Loan Interest Rates On Verge Of Doubling

One of the main reasons the entire debt-fueled house of cards propping the western financial system, hasn't collapsed in a smouldering heap so far - a development that has stumped all those who think of the Reinhart-Rogoff sovereign debt matrix as one dimensinal with only debt/GDP as the key variable and completely ignoring the interest rate (manipulated or not) - is that the cash interest payment on the global mountain of debt has been rather tame, courtesy of all developed world central banks going all in with serial, or increasingly more, parallel monetization of debt. However, while the US Treasury has the benefit of the Federal Reserve (and its Primary Dealer tentacles) as a backstopped buyer of all the debt that's fit to print, individual Americans are not as lucky. And as America's massively overindebted student body may be about to find out, there is no surer way to burst a debt bubble than to send its rates soaring. Because unless Congress pulls off a miracle in the next 24 hours and passes legislation that delays an inevitable doubling of rates on the most popular Federal (subsidized) Stafford loans, the interest is set to double from 3.4% to 6.8%.

Hogan's Group Grows Larger Than O'Malley's - Change Maryland Blasts July 1 Tax And Toll Hikes

Change Maryland founder Larry Hogan fired up a sold-out crowd of several hundred at a fundraiser last night, "Your family trip to the beach just got a lot more expensive. On July 1 the second round of O'Malley toll increases will take effect and the gas tax increase kicks in at the same time. While you are sitting in traffic at the Bay Bridge for the 4th of July weekend you can thank Governor O'Malley and the monopoly in Annapolis for the 140% increase in tolls, and for giving us the most expensive gas in the region."

Change Maryland, a non-partisan organization, is the largest and fastest growing grassroots movement in the state made up of more than 46,000 people from every jurisdiction in the state. Nearly half of them are Democrats and Independents. The group's Facebook page includes 10 times more people than Democrat gubernatorial candidate Anthony Brown, and 25 times more than Republican candidate David Craig. In fact, the Change Maryland page has more people engaged on-line than the Maryland Democrat and Republican Parties, and all the potential Democrat and Republican candidates for governor, combined. As of yesterday, Larry Hogan's organization actually surpassed that of his frequent sparring partner, Martin O'Malley, the former Baltimore Mayor, two term governor and candidate for President.

Hogan explained that the impact of the 30% increase in state spending and the 40 consecutive O'Malley-Brown tax increases was that the state has gone from 13 Fortune 500 companies down to 3, we lost 6,500 small businesses, the unemployment rate has nearly doubled and 31,000 taxpayers have fled the state. Hogan then fired up the standing room only crowd with: "Governor O'Malley says he's ‘Moving Maryland Forward'. But if that's moving Maryland forward, I say maybe next year, we'll just have to take Maryland back!"

The bipartisan crowd at the Change Maryland event included many top Republican leaders, as well as a former Democratic Governor, a former Speaker of the House and a number of prominent Democrats from across the state. "This isn't just another fight between Democrats and Republicans. It's more important than that. This is a fight for Maryland's future, and it's a fight worth fighting", Hogan said.

In addition to being the founder and Chairman of Change Maryland, Hogan is a successful businessman, and a former state Cabinet Secretary. In 2010 he was the only serious candidate willing to challenge O'Malley, until former Governor Bob Ehrlich entered the race. Ehrlich called him "One of the only Republicans in Maryland who could win." Maryland's most powerful Democrat, Steny Hoyer called Hogan the toughest opponent he has ever faced in his entire career.

Ramadan Brothers Remain In Custody After Hearing

OCEAN CITY -- Two local residents indicted by a New York grand jury in May for allegedly being the ringleader and enterprise treasurer of a vast cigarette smuggling and money laundering operation remain behind bars this week after preliminary hearings in King’s County New York Supreme Court on Monday.

In mid-May, federal officials concluded an investigation into a vast, multi-million dollar cigarette smuggling operation with raids on two locations in and around the Ocean City area including the West Ocean City homes of local residents and business owners Basel Ramadan, 42, who has been called the operation’s “ringleader,” and Samer Ramadan, 40, who is being called the “enterprise treasurer” of the operation. Also indicted were 14 other alleged co-conspirators, from transporters to distributors to resellers, who were also rounded up at locations all over the mid-Atlantic region on the same day in May.

At an initial bail hearing on June 4, Samer Ramadan was ordered to be held on a $15 million bond and was remanded to the custody of the New York Justice Department. Basel Ramadan also appeared at the same hearing on June 4, but the hearing was adjourned before his bail was set and he remained in custody without bond.

The Criminal N.S.A.

THE twin revelations that telecom carriers have been secretly giving the National Security Agency information about Americans’ phone calls, and that the N.S.A. has been capturing e-mail and other private communications from Internet companies as part of a secret program called Prism, have not enraged most Americans. Lulled, perhaps, by the Obama administration’s claims that these “modest encroachments on privacy” were approved by Congress and by federal judges, public opinion quickly migrated from shock to “meh.”

It didn’t help that Congressional watchdogs — with a few exceptions, like Senator Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky — have accepted the White House’s claims of legality. The leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of California, and Saxby Chambliss, Republican of Georgia, have called the surveillance legal. So have liberal-leaning commentators like Hendrik Hertzberg and David Ignatius.

National Stasi Agency

A New Beginning Without Washington’s Sanctimonious Mask — Paul Craig Roberts
It is hard to understand the fuss that Washington and its media whores are making over Edward Snowden. We have known for a long time that the National Security Agency (NSA) has been spying for years without warrants on the communications of Americans and people throughout the world. Photographs of the massive NSA building in Utah built for the purpose of storing the intercepted communications of the world have been published many times.

It is not clear to an ordinary person what Snowden has revealed that William Binney and other whistleblowers have not already revealed. Perhaps the difference is that Snowden has provided documents that prove it, thereby negating Washington’s ability to deny the facts with its usual lies.

Whatever the reason for Washington’s blather, it certainly is not doing the US government any good. Far more interesting than Snowden’s revelations is the decision by governments of other countries to protect a truth-teller from the Stasi in Washington.

Judge Holds Off Decision On Hudson Farm Legal Expenses

BERLIN -- A federal judge this week heard testimony but offered no decision in an attempt by the successful defendants in a civil suit filed against a Berlin farm family and Perdue over alleged pollution violations to recoup roughly $3 million in legal fees from their opponents.

U.S. District Court Judge William Nickerson on Wednesday heard testimony from both sides in the landmark Clean Water Act case involving Berlin’s Hudson Farm and Perdue and the Waterkeeper Alliance, an environmental advocacy group that alleged the defendants allowed runoff from the Berlin farm to enter the creeks and streams that feed the Pocomoke River and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay. Last December, the court ruled in favor of the Hudsons and Perdue after a 10-day trial and the plaintiffs are now seeking reimbursement of the roughly $3 million in legal fees and other expenses used to defend the case.

After hearing testimony on the legal fees issue on Wednesday afternoon, Nickerson did not make an immediate ruling and instead put the case in “sub curia.” Sub curia is a Latin term which literally means “under law.” A court will often hold a matter under consideration awaiting some other important step, such as the filing of a document or the writing of an opinion. There is no timetable prescribed for a ruling in the case under sub curia and the judge is likely forming a careful opinion after hearing testimony.

The Dark Side Of The QE Circus

There may come a day soon where the markets sell off if one of the whiskers in Big Ben's beard is out of place. Or perhaps if his tie is a bit crooked. Or maybe we end up with Janet Yellen as the next puppet in charge over at the local banking cabal and we fret about her hairdo. I don't know, but one thing that is for certain is that this central bank so wants to be loved and we are so under psychological attack with all of this QE nonsense that it isn't even funny.

QE is the endgame. ZIRP was only the beginning. QE, or monetization (which they'll never call it because of the negative connotations), is the heroic measure applied to an already dead system. Our system, for all intent and purposes, died in 2008. It ceased to exist. The investing, economic, and business paradigm that has existed since is drastically different than its predecessor despite all the efforts being made to convince everyone, including Humpty Dumpty, that it is in fact 2005 all over again.

Court: Starbucks Baristas Only Have To Share Tips With Shift Supervisors, Not Asst. Managers

In the fight over who gets to dig their hands into the Starbucks tip jar at the end of the day, everyone is coming out kind of a winner. Well, except for assistant managers, but they already earn salaries and have benefits, so that’s pretty winner-y. A court says baristas must share their tips, but only with shift supervisors.

While it’s not a total win for baristas who didn’t want to cough up any of their tips to shift supervisors, at least they don’t have to share with yet another group of people. And the shift supervisors who’d argued that they did enough customer service to warrant a little extra will surely be pleased with the New York Court of Appeals’ decision.

The Death Of Daniel Somers

I am reading the heartbreaking suicide note of Daniel Somers, a US combat veteran who spent several years fighting in Iraq. Mr. Somers was only 30 years old when he took his own life, after being tormented by the horrific memories of what he experienced in Iraq. He wrote:
“The simple truth is this: During my first deployment, I was made to participate in things, the enormity of which is hard to describe. War crimes, crimes against humanity. Though I did not participate willingly, and made what I thought was my best effort to stop these events, there are some things that a person simply can not come back from.”

Many who shout the loudest that we must “support the troops” urge sending them off to unwinnable and undeclared wars in which there is no legitimate US interest. The US military has been abused by those who see military force as a first resort rather than the last resort and only in self-defense. This abuse has resulted in a generation of American veterans facing a life sentence in the prison of tortured and deeply damaged minds as well as broken bodies.

The numbers sadly tell the story: more military suicides than combat deaths in 2012, some 22 military veterans take their lives every day, nearly 30 percent of veterans treated by the VA have PTSD.

Navy Report on Maryland Drone Crash: ‘Disastrous Results’ Averted

As U.S. skies have opened up to drones in recent years, concerns about civil liberties have come to the fore, but as the fiery crash of a mammoth unmanned Navy surveillance drone in the Chesapeake Bay a year ago demonstrated, safety is cause for concern as well.

A Navy investigation, reported here for the first time, has concluded that the June 11, 2012, crash was caused by a combination of a mechanical failure and pilot error. A breakdown in the aircraft's rudder mechanism compounded by the failure of a civilian pilot to follow emergency procedures sent the Global Hawk drone, with a wingspan of 131 feet, spiraling into remote wetlands in southern Maryland.

The Global Hawk, a 22,982-pound aircraft, spiraled downward at a 55-degree angle reaching a speed in excess of 2,000 feet per minute. Carrying more than 11,000 pounds of fuel, the drone burst into flames upon impact. The crash destroyed the $176 million vehicle, but caused no property damage or injuries and caused "minimal" environmental damage, the report found.

YouSSR, MeSSR

How does one tell whether one is living in a dictatorship, or almost? The signs need not be so obvious as having a squat little man raving from balconies. Methinks the following indicators serve. In a dictatorship:

(1) Sweeping laws are made without reference to the will of the people. A few examples follow. Whether you think these laws desirable is not the point. Some will, others won’t. The point is that they were simply imposed from above. Many of them would never have survived a national vote.

Start with Roe vs. Wade, making abortion legal, and subsequent decisions allowing late-term abortion. Griggs versus Duke Power, forbidding employers from using tests of intelligence, since certain groups scored poorly. Brown versus the School Board and its offspring requiring forced integration, forced busing, racial quotas, and so on. The decision that Creationism cannot be mentioned in the schools. Decisions forbidding the public expression of Christianity. The decision that citizens can be stopped and searched without probable cause. The opening of the borders to mass immigration.

These are major, major laws grossly altering the social, legal, and constitutional fabric of the country. All were simply imposed, mostly by unelected judges against whom there is no recourse.

The Other (Worse) Side Of The PRISM Scandal

The fallout from the PRISM scandal has reached Stage Two, where faces in front of television cameras promote memorable slogans to give people reasons to accept their abuse and to pretend that everything is okay. And, overall, these slogans and their promoters break down into to two primary models – predators and battered women.

Let’s start with the predators.

These abusers – who are building the largest blackmail archive in all of human history – keep coming back with the same old hateful slogan:
If you don’t do anything wrong, you have nothing to fear.

Understand this clearly: these are the words of a predator speaking to his hostages.

The Public Doesn’t Believe the NSA … Knows What’s Really Going On With Mass Spying

72% of Likely U.S. Voters Know the NSA Has Monitored the Private Communications of Congress, Military Leaders and Judges

The government keeps on lying about how it's spying on Americans without authorization from a court.

It keeps lying about the scope of its spying.

It keeps lying about the need for mass surveillance (and here) and the way that the information gained from spying will really be used ... to harass political opponents.

Indeed, NSA whistleblower Russel Tice – a key source in the 2005 New York Times report that blew the lid off the Bush administration’s use of warrantless wiretapping –recently said that the NSA illegally spied on General Petraeus and other generals, Supreme Court Justice Alito and all of the other supreme court justices, the White House spokesman, Barack Obama, and many other top officials.

The mainstream media will not interview Tice about this explosive issue. (Tice made his revelations to former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds - who has been deemed credible by the Department of Justice’s Inspector General, several senators free subscription required, and a coalition of prominent conservative and liberal groups - and to James Corbett. Edmonds and Corbett have small, alternative media web-based radio shows.)

And yet - in very heartening news - a new poll by Rasmussen shows that the American public understands much of what is really going on:
