I went to the downtown post office this morning (first time in a long while). The building is in the last stages of neglect. Paint peeling...wood rotting...concrete cracking...marble steps loose...cement missing...doors almost inoperable...danger underfoot everywhere to the unwary ! PITIFUL !
Just one more building in downtown Salisbury that will probably fall down due to neglect. What a shame. Newer is not always better like "knucklehead at the helm" (Ireton) and others like him, seem to think. Salisbury continues on its downward spiral.
Do you think the bankrupt postal service has money to make cosmetic repairs?
ReplyDeleteNot going to get any better, that is what happens when you have no money.
ReplyDeleteStarve the beast remember?
Would the writer be willing to help make some repairs? I bet not.Just wants to complain!
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame, because the bldg itself is one of the best built in Salisbury.
ReplyDeleteJust try to make repairs to this building as a private citizen and see how quick you land in jail with a lawsuit against you for tresspass!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't need two poat offices close it to save money.
ReplyDeleteAND see what happens to you if you make your own repairs to the sidewalk on you own property without getting a permit and an "approved" contractor!.
ReplyDeleteWho actually owns this property, does anybody know?

ReplyDeleteUm, the owner of the building is listed in SDAT as "U.S. Post Office." 9:49, your comment is spot on.
ReplyDeleteIf the property is that unsafe, why doesn't the city inspector do something about it? Waiting for someone to be injured? or politics as usual?
ReplyDeleteCity dude can't do diddly against the Feds. Get with it.
ReplyDeleteShame. Historic building. Shouldn't go to the crapper.
