  2. Thats a Pileated Woodpecker. They are North Americas largest woodpecker. They are a real treat to see. It appears that they are preparing a nesting cavity so you will be able to watch them raise their young. Cool!

  3. Not a Pileated, its an Umsuquah Woodpecker, very distinctive pattern and very rare.

  4. I have one the peck on the side of my house early in the morning. My siding is oak grain. I went to the window to see what the drilling noise was and there we were eye to eye. Cocky looking thing.

  6. I think 12:32 PM is trying to be either funny or crude, you decide. It is in fact, a Pileated Woodpecker.

Neither funny nor crude, I really do have a woodpecker drilling on the outside of my siding. He has returned for four years now. We named him fonzy.

  11. Joe, you sure you weren't behind the car with all the weed? First a drug bust, then "grass & weed" season now "knockers & peckers". You're too funny. :-)
