Salisbury News will provide three Posts tomorrow morning no later than 9:05 AM with photos of the Friday Night Fights.
I have received quite a bit of e-mail asking where the pictures are and quite frankly we have always provided the photos the Monday after the fight when we receive the most traffic.
While this may be a bit unusual, having a reputation of having the pictures out there first, I personally feel if you wanted to see the action and or photos you should have gone to the fights to see them.
On the other hand, we understand not every one can make it to the fights so we'll provide them the Monday after the fights.
Here's the funny thing. When your standing ring side and your friends are up there fighting, there are times when I'd get into the fight so much I'd even lay my camera down and start screaming with the crowd in support. The next thing you know you're thinking, what the hell are you doing, you're missing some great shots!
Fortunately I was able to collect myself several times Friday night and I did capture some great images to share. I'm confident everyone will enjoy what we provide and we welcome anyone else's photos if they'd like them published.

TWO KILLED IN EARLY MORNING CRASH ON I-70
(Woodlawn, MD) - Maryland State Police are continuing their investigation into an early morning crash on Interstate 70 in Baltimore County that claimed two lives and seriously injured two people who were transported to Shock Trauma.
The deceased have been identified as Mary-Kathryn Michele Abernathy, 21, of the 8600-block of Hayshed Lane, Columbia, Maryland and Jonathan Robert Henderson, 20, of the 1400-block of Redwood Circle, La Plata, Maryland. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The injured have been identified as Donneil Raeburn, 26, of the 4500-block of Dresden Road, Pikesville, Maryland and Paul Alan Duffy, 22, of the 8100-block of Sunrise Lane, Elkridge, Maryland. Raeburn was flown to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center by a Maryland State Police helicopter with critical injuries. Duffy was transported by ambulance to Shock Trauma with serious injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly after 3:00 a.m., a large group of motor vehicles were stopped along the right shoulder of westbound I-70, west of the Park and Ride located at the Baltimore County/Baltimore City line. Several occupants had exited their vehicles and gathered along the right shoulder. For reasons unknown at this time, a westbound 2009 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Donneil Raeburn went out of control and struck the rear of a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier owned by Paul Duffy who was struck as he stood outside of his vehicle.
The force of the initial impact caused the Chevrolet Cavalier to continue on and strike the rear of a 1995 Acura Integra owned by Jonathan Henderson, who along with Kathryn Abernathy was standing near the Acura. Abernathy and Henderson were traveling together prior to the crash.
Witnesses at the scene advised investigators that they had gathered in the area to witness drag racing when someone observed a Baltimore County Police vehicle traveling eastbound on I-70. As the police vehicle approached the Park and Ride, the individuals standing on the shoulder began to return to their vehicles and disperse when the crash occurred. Investigators are attempting to determine if Raeburn was drag racing prior to the crash.
Police are aware that motorist attempt to gather in that area of I-70. Frequent patrol checks are made to deter any types of illegal activity. Troopers made two checks of that stretch of I-70 less than an hour before the crash.
Troopers from the Golden Ring Barracks responded to the crash and requested assistance from the Maryland State Police CRASH Team. The CRASH Team will be conducting a detailed reconstruction of the crash. Alcohol is believed to be contributing factor.
No charges have been filed in connection with the crash at this time. The investigation is continuing.
Personnel from the State Highway Administration responded to assist with detours around the crash scene. Due to the extensive crash scene and the number of people injured, westbound I-70 remained closed for about five hours.
Salisbury Infrastructure Crumbles
These photos are just one street and one example of just how bad former Mayor Barrie Tilghman left the City when she chose not to run for Office again.
Developers got their multi million dollar reimbursements but citizens were treated to next to nothing and as a new Mayor steps in and the Daily Times asks if he's done enough in his short period of being in Office, many of us know what Barrie did and just how she left things.
It will take far more than 4 years to clean up the mess she left behind and with the financial disaster she, Mike Dunn, Lynn Cathcart, Shanie Shields and Gary Comegys left behind, let's just hope citizens are patient because there's a very big uphill battle to be fought.

Brooke Mulford Update
Hi everybody this is just a quick informative update. I posted a few new pictures; I will try doing a couple every few days. Amy gave me some discs of pictures and there is a lot on them over the past few weeks so you can see what Brooke was up to when there were no updates. Brooke’s Spa Day was done on June 11th and she had her friend Ashley go with her. They had a mani/pedi done. Thank you so much to About Faces and to Brooke for making Brooke fell so special. Of course along the way in life we have road bumps and Brooke is no exception. On Friday the 12th we had to put Brooke’s kitty LuLu to sleep. She had been sick for a little while and we were trying to keep her going until Brooke left for Transplant, but it was not to be. Brooke is very smart and has quite a grasp on medical things. Amy felt it was best to tell her the whole truth and not try to hide or lie about anything. In the end that was a smart decision because Brooke knew LuLu was sick and was not feeling well. She handled it very well and will never have to wonder what became of LuLu. As a matter of fact she told LuLu to find Rocky in Heaven. (Rocky was Brooke’s doggie that past away this past fall, the first time we really ever heard Brooke laugh really hard was because of Rocky)
Hey, Brookie here! What happens when a cat eats yarn? It has mittens What dog is always on time? A watch dog Knock Knock Who’s there? Muffin Muffin Who? Baking a cake (Amy and I have no idea, but boy does she love it) I have to go my favorite show is on right now, ABC’s WIPE OUT. Opps, second favorite show. I have to be up every morning at 8AM to watch Disney’s Special Agent Oso! Daddy always misses it, silly Daddy.
Today was day 2 of Chemo treatments as we head to next Friday the 26th for the Transplant. Brooke was still feeling pretty good today. She was full of energy and very playful. Her appetite is still good, she ate a good dinner but at breakfast when her omelet arrived the smell made her feel a little sick. Her ANC count has already started dropping so everyone going into the room must wear a mask except Mommy. So far she is handling getting a shower every 4 hours fairly well. For the first 3 days one of the Chemo drugs secrets thru the skin and she has to get a shower every 4 hours, they do allow once a day to get it on the sixth hour at night time so Brooke and Amy can get a little sleep. The hardest part is that everything has to be washed and her favorite blankie has to be away from her for 4 hours. Grammy came by today and she got to open one of her special presents we had to get ahead of time for this trip. It was a playmobile ambulance to match her hospital she got. On this stay Brooke can have no stuffed animals or things with hair on it. Everything has to be sterilized once a day and she has to eat from a very limited menu. Miss Sara came by today as well and that always brings a big smile to Brooke’s face. Miss Sara has her work cut out for her on this stay with all the restrictions. That is about it for today, everyone getting settled in for the next 30 days. Many Many Thank you’s to everyone out there who have prayed so much to get me this far, please keep me in your prayers.
This time because of the extended stay and not changing rooms if anyone would like to send a card with words of encouragement and hi, Brookie and Mommy would love it. You can always include stickers, they are allowed and I can make cards with stickers on them all day long. I can not have a lot of things so it’s just not a good idea to send them to me at CHOP unless they are cleared thru Mommy. Daddy messes up a lot and would not like to get in trouble. Blognetnews Influential Ratings Skewed?
For many years Salisbury News has enjoyed being involved with Blognetnews as it allowed a sort of challenge to Bloggers across America but used a questionable rating system to Rank certain Blogs.
We put them to the test in recent months just to see how things would go and quite frankly they failed miserably. While Salisbury News watched Blognetnews ignore their Site for weeks on end and refused to answer e-mail messages asking them to update the Maryland Site and the Delmarva Site, the Editor of the Maryland Site continued to act like a jerk and we watched our ratings all of a sudden go down.
Here's what made things even more interesting. If you hadn't noticed, we've been averaging around 35 articles a day and we even posted a link daily to encourage our readers to go to Blognetnews and rate Salisbury News. Now some might think of coming back here under comments and say that perhaps readers didn't like what they read and gave you bad ratings. Well, maybe that's true. However, we've come to learn over the years that even a low rating is better than no rating at all, so that excuse doesn't fly.
No, the Editor of Blognetnews and I haven't seen eye to eye over the past 9 months or so and while we've had record visits to Salisbury News, record daily comments, Blogs that are getting 35 to 40 hits per day are now more influential, (according to Blognetnews) than Salisbury News. Perhaps Blognetnews should remove the INFLUENTIAL portion of their rankings as I have strongly suggested for two years now.
When a Blog like Salisbury News gets 400+ comments in one day and then ranks #6 and or now #8 for the week, these people are so full of crap it isn't funny. Mind you, there have been a ton of our visitors rating Salisbury News as well. Again, I'm not at all saying Salisbury News should be #1 all the time. There are several other Blogs out there that put a lot of time and effort into their Blog. However, still to this day they're not getting the recognition they deserve. Dropping well below Blogs not even reaching 100 hits a day is hardly more influential.
Maryland Blognetnews Editor started changing things when I complained about The Carroll Standard copying and pasting AP Articles and giving absolutely no credit to those who wrote the articles in the first place. When I put up a Post about how they had removed The Carroll Standard I instantly received a nasty e-mail from the Blognetnews Editor for Posting an article about it. I responded with, it was the right thing to do. So what did he do. He instantly reinstated The Carroll Standard and and allowed them to copy and paste AP articles and our ratings started falling right after that. Even though Editor David Mastio agreed that they were copying and pasting full articles, even going so far as removing them completely from Blognetnews.
That's OK. We have watched Blognetnews continue to spiral downwards and their rankings don't mean much any more anyway. We know on our end that with the volume of hits, comments and respect we get from the MSM and political figures where we stand. Blognetnews needs to be replaced with a more respectable group that won't let personalities get in the way of their rankings, as the Maryland Editor David Mastio has done. Here's one of the messages I received from him. Mind you, no one was topless. It was ART, if you'll recall. An ARTIST made a motorcycle made of a woman's body. Rather than Dave sending me an e-mail to discuss it, he removed my Post and then sent the following message.
"Hey,
Today I got a couple complaints about a topless picture on the front page of bnn/md . I have taken the post from your site of the front page. I hope I don't have to do that again.
David Mastio"
Hey Dave, it wasn't a REAL WOMAN, it was ART! When I replied to his e-mail, he must have realized how stupid a move this was on his behalf because he refused to respond.
INFLUENTIAL, how abgout when Blognetnews invites Salisbury News to cover the Presidential Election?
"do you have any interest in coming to Dc to liveblog election night with a major national news organization and possibly some international ones as well?
David Mastio"
Oh well, it was enjoyable when it was legit. Again, I strongly request Blognetnews remove the word INFLUENTIAL if they're going to continue this practice and expect to be respected.

Somerset County Residents Seek Help
Hello Joe,
I have been a fan of sbynews for over a year now. I need your help with getting someone to notice that somerset county planning and zoning is trying to pull a fast one on its residents.
The critical area variances are normally done at 730 pm on the third Friday of every month at the Somerset County commissioners hearing room after being advertised in the paper, (Somerset Herald) for 2 weeks. People who have a problem can show up and voice their opposition or favor for a particular variance, now they are trying to make it an in house deal away from the eyes of the public and during hours which normal working people cant show up.
The biggest problem down here is people building in the critical area and buffer when the state says you cant unless you have 20 acres or more. It is designed to keep the bay area building impact to a minimum but as you well know Somerset County tends to say the hell with the state and do what they want in which i hear they are already in trouble with the state on some things.
I personally find that they let Paul Thornton get a permit for a deck then he builds a 3 story house right on the water. They back date permits for him when people notice, he is well known for doing this and having all sorts of favors done by planning and zoning and the people who approve percs and septics.
I have him stopped in court and I will see this over and done with if I have WBOC or WMDT down here. This man is also a non citizen--he is married to a citizen but rumor has it that he would have to pay taxes on his LLC and personal taxes and this is the way he gets around it. I have a hard time believing I, a veteran, have to defend against a non citizen.
Your sby news has gotten around here alot lately and people in Somerset County are watching and listening, heard that before Joe? If you can use your contacts to look into what Somerset County is up to I would be grateful. You seem to strike fear when you show up and I personally know some people hate you and fear your question asking who are high in the county hierarchy, I think its great and agree with about 85 percent of everything you do and say, the deadline or vote is 2 pm Tuesday and if Jack Willing, head of planning and zoning explained to you what their plan is I'm sure you could see what I mean.
Things are changing here but need more scrutiny and professional sh!tdisturbers like you come in handy, anything you can do would be helpful. Thanks for listening and writing your Blog.

Saturday At Sam's Club
Joe,
Couldn't believe my Eyes!
Walked into Sam's Club in SBY today at noon with mother, wife and kids.
There was a table in the entry where they check your club card and faster than I could get my card back in my wallet an employee was handing my two daughters actual prescription pill bottles with candy packed in them. What the ...???
Now my 3 year old thinks all prescription pill bottles are just tasty snacks...
What in the world are they thinking over there?
There will be some calls on Monday morning from SBY to Arkansas to be sure.
I'm pissed, really pissed, what kind of pharmacy marketing is this...???
Cemetery Escort Duty
I just wanted to get the day over with and go down to Smokey's. Sneaking a look at my watch, I saw the time, 1655. Five minutes to go before the cemetery gates are closed for the day. Full dress was hot in the August sun. Oklahoma summertime was as bad as ever--the heat and humidity at the same level--both too high.
I saw the car pull into the drive, '69 or '70 model Cadillac Deville, looked factory-new. It pulled into the parking lot at a snail's pace. An old woman got out so slow I thought she was paralyzed; she had a cane and a sheaf of flowers--about four or five bunches as best I could tell.
I couldn't help myself. The thought came unwanted, and left a slightly bitter taste: 'She's going to spend an hour, and for this old soldier, my hip hurts like hell and I'm ready to get out of here right now!' But for this day, my duty was to assist anyone coming in.
Kevin would lock the 'In' gate and if I could hurry the old biddy along, we might make it to Smokey's in time.
I broke post attention. My hip made gritty noises when I took the first step and the pain went up a notch. I must have made a real military sight: middle-aged man with a small pot gut and half a limp, in marine full-dress uniform, which had lost its razor crease about thirty minutes after I began the watch at the cemetery.
I stopped in front of her, halfway up the walk. She looked up at me with an old woman's squint.
'Ma'am, may I assist you in any way?'
She took long enough to answer.
'Yes, son. Can you carry these flowers? I seem to be moving a tad slow these days.'
'My pleasure, ma'am. 'Well, it wasn't too much of a lie.
She looked again. 'Marine, where were you stationed?'
'Vietnam, ma'am. Ground-pounder. '69 to '71.'
She looked at me closer. 'Wounded in action, I see. Well done, Marine. I'll be as quick as I can. '
I lied a little bigger: 'No hurry, ma'am.'
She smiled and winked at me. 'Son, I'm 85-years-old and I can tell a lie from a long way off. Let's get this done. Might be the last time I can do this. My name's Joanne Wieserman, and I've a few Marines I'd like to see one more time.'
'Yes, ma 'am. At your service.'
She headed for the World War I section, stopping at a stone. She picked one of the flowers out of my arm and laid it on top of the stone. She murmured something I couldn't quite make out. The name on the marble was Donald S. Davidson, USMC: France 1918 .
She turned away and made a straight line for the World War II section, stopping at one stone. I saw a tear slowly tracking its way down her cheek. She put a bunch on a stone; the name was Stephen X. Davidson, USMC, 1943.
She went up the row a ways and laid another bunch on a stone, Stanley J. Wieserman, USMC, 1944.
She paused for a second. 'Two more, son, and we'll be done'
I almost didn't say anything, but, 'Yes, ma'am. Take your time.'
She looked confused. 'Where's the Vietnam section, son? I seem to have lost my way.'
I pointed with my chin. 'That way, ma'am.'
'Oh!' she chuckled quietly. 'Son, me and old age ain't too friendly.'
She headed down the walk I'd pointed at. She stopped at a couple of stones before she found the ones she wanted. She placed a bunch on Larry Wieserman, USMC, 1968, and the last on Darrel Wieserman, USMC, 1970. She stood there and murmured a few words I still couldn't make out.
'OK, son, I'm finished. Get me back to my car and you can go home.'
Yes, ma'am. If I may ask, were those your kinfolk?'
She paused. ' Yes, Donald Davidson was my father, Stephen was my uncle, Stanley was my husband, Larry and Darrel were our sons. All killed in action, all marines. '
She stopped. Whether she had finished, or couldn't finish, I don't know. She made her way to her car, slowly and painfully. I waited for a polite distance to come between us and then double-timed it over to Kevin, waiting by the car. 'Get to the 'Out' gate quick. I have something I've got to do.'
Kevin started to say something, but saw the look I gave him. He broke the rules to get us there down the service road. We beat her. She hadn't made it around the rotunda yet.
'Kevin, stand at attention next to the gatepost. Follow my lead.' I humped it across the drive to the other post.
When the Cadillac came puttering around from the hedges and began the short straight traverse to the gate, I called in my best gunny's voice: 'TehenHut! Present Haaaarms!'
I have to hand it to Kevin; he never blinked an eye--full dress attention and a salute that would make his DI proud. She drove through that gate with two old worn-out soldiers giving her a send-off she deserved, for service rendered to her country, and for knowing duty, honor and sacrifice.
I am not sure, but I think I saw a salute returned from that Cadillac.
Instead of 'The End,' just think of 'Taps.'

Bus Trip
Two bowling teams, one of all Blondes and one of all Brunettes, charter a double-Decker bus for a weekend trip to Louisiana. The Brunette team rode on the bottom of the bus, and the Blonde team rode on the top level.
The Brunette team down below really whooped it up, having a great time, when one of them realized she hadn't heard anything from the Blondes upstairs. She decided to go up and investigate.
When the Brunette reached the top, she found all the Blondes in fear, staring straight ahead at the road, clutching the seats in front of them with white knuckles.
The brunette asked, 'What the heck's going on up here?
We're having a great time downstairs!'
One of the Blondes looked up at her, swallowed hard and whispered...
'YEAH, BUT YOU'VE GOT A DRIVER!?!'
